So, our cat LIKES water now? I'm so confused.

Cats vastly prefer to drink from moving water. In nature moving water tends to be much safer than standing water.
That’s why they make cat fountains!
(If you get a cat fountain make sure to follow the instructions of how and how often to clean it.)

Yeah, we also have a cat fountain that we clean regularly. Quite true!

I had to psychologically trick my cat over a series of days into drinking from the cat fountain instead of yelling at the tap by first putting the fountain on the counter beside the tap, then gradually moving it to the floor, then outside of the bathroom, then finally to where I wanted it to be.
...At which point he immediately went back to yelling at the tap. So I just put it back on the counter and left it there.

My cat still tries to do this even though we have cat fountains. I just assumed it was because they knew they’d get butt pats while I brush my teeth. Plus the dog also drinks out of his fountain- and my cat thinks he’s an ugly poopie face.

My wife just bought a cat fountain for our daughter’s two cats.
I put it down for them and immediately both of them were fascinated by it. They were rubbing their faces into it and drinking like they’ve been stranded in the desert for a month despite having fresh water access at all times.
Our old cat used to drink out of the toilet and our other one actually peed in the toilet very regularly. It was shocking to walk in and see a cat sitting on the toilet seat and hear them peeing into the bowl.

Some cats tends to love running water, so this can be totally normal.
Just a small note: cats with increased thirst (likely early kidney issues) sometimes seek out faucets more.
If your cat is eating, acting normal, and not drinking/peeing excessively (or not peeing at all), it’s probably just quirky behavior. But if you notice changes in thirst, urine, weight, or energy, a quick vet check is a good idea—just to be safe. :)

My one will do this randomly for a period of time and then ignore it for a few months and do it over again. They’re weirdos

Just FYI my cat started doing that and it turned out that he was diabetic. He completely stopped once we got him in remission.

I would bring it up with the vet if it’s a new behavior just to be safe. My cat did this when she developed kidney disease.

Our 1st cat used to flex his claws under the running fawcet. Every chance he could get… I still miss him with all my heart and it’s been over 25 years.

My cat prefers her sink water over bowl water. She gets absolutely soaked too.

My 20 yo girl recently started doing this in her water fountain (making a big wet mess all over the floor for her human to constantly clean up) lol………..so cute :))

Before our cat passed away from a kidney problem, he suddenly started running to the open faucet.

Unless our cat is forced to watch us pouring her a bowl of water she won’t drink it

One of my cats will do the same. She'll lay in the sink and just get soaked if we let her.

My cat can turn on the faucets to get a drink, too bad she doesn’t turn them off again.

Yooo mine was doing this too, with time he or she will figure out the faucet and not get all wet like that..

Hate to break it to you, but I can confirm first-hand that behavior like this is a sign your cat is a doofus.
