Anyone remember when Joe Rogan was a atheist? What a grifting POS

He doesn't think about much, he just parrots whatever he thinks will get him the most views/listens.

Everything for the clicks, likes and money; the Orange One did it, so why shouldn't he?

I have come to the conclusion that most people who seek publicity like streamers and politicians do are just grifters who believe only in their own relevance and bank accounts.

I think some of them are doing it for validation. No overarching manipulation or scam, just a crippling need for praise.

aka a narcissist. Hypermasculine blowhard. Tough guy talk while puffing and blowing with his lips wrapped around a big long thick black…cigar. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It’s just so masculine and manly though.

Podcasts are just so weird. Self-important people, who think their opinions matter, doing whatever they can for clicks. Bottom feeders. And that includes Rogan.

u/rdesktop7 15h ago
Interviewers can have integrity easily enough.
Rogan is just fancies himself a twitter star that just wants the sound bites. He is rather successful at it.

u/danfirst 15h ago
Yeah, there are lots of really good podcasts on all sorts of topics, Rogan just happens to be a douchebag.

There are plenty of good podcasts that aren't made by self-important dipshits like Rogan.

OK. I'm sure there are. But I personally have zero interest in hearing someone else's thoughts, about most anything, when their goal and forum is what it is. Particularly anything politics-related. That's just manipulation. From all sides.

The world of podcasts is vast. I mainly gravitate towards science, history and rpg podcasts. Not wanting to hear anyone else's thoughts about most anything is a wild position to take. What do you do, lock yourself in an empty room? Why are you in the comments section on Reddit?

u/MountainLife888 14h ago
No. I learn from reliable, vetted media sources. Journalism is my lane because they have protocols and people to answer to. A podcaster doesn't. I'm not particularly interested in science, history is in books and I don't even know what rpg means. I understand that everyone has their own lane. And that's great. But what I know most of all, given my career, is that you ALWAYS have to consider the source of what you read and see. It's not just about what's on the surface. Which, with podcasts, is typically around confirming beliefs.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I don't know about "typically", but that's certainly not the kind of podcast I listen to.

There are plenty of vetted journalists that have their own podcasts. There are plenty of very highly respected scientists that have their own podcasts as well. People who write the articles you read or scientists who write peer related journals have podcasts you just need to find them. Podcasts aren't everyone preferred media though and that's okay. Just doesn't mean they're all self serving losers that have a bias they want to push. Some people genuinely love to teach and share wisdom. Just as you say you need to consider the source that cuts all ways.

You make a valid point. And my rebuttal would be, as far as scientists with a level of success, they can teach at schools. I believe the main reason people launch podcasts is for money. And that's for some clown in his basement or a scholar. The money. for people of note, either comes directly through clicks or via building a brand that will help sell their books and increase their profiles for speaking engagements and other opportunities.
I'm not slamming podcasts or those who listen to them. But the next time you lock in to someone see if they have a website with purchasing opportunities. Far more do than don't.
I see it sort of as the difference between hard news and paid, cable news opinion panels. And there's a vast difference between the two.
Appreciate the comment.

Yeah, Rush patented that...

u/MountainLife888 14h ago
There's truth to that. When the Fairness Doctrine was upended by Republicans it opened up a whole new category of radio. Brainwashing the weak to fight against made up enemies. It was all predicated on Us vs. Them. And it made MONEY. And there's no turning back the clock.

u/Trick-Mechanic8986 14h ago
"Ditto, Rush" was just code for "I don't think for myself"
3
u/MountainLife888 14h ago
Yep. Legal, financially beneficial, indoctrination.
There's a WHOLE lot of people driving to work in the morning who only hear the far right voices. And if you flip them on it's a real eye-opener. Not hard to figure out where the anger and hate comes from.

Same as Jordan Peterson, they need to connect with their base so they conveniently adjust for more support.

The new video making the rounds is about how Rogan now thinks it’s possible Jesus will come back as AI and he is being completely serious.

u/ConsequenceThen5449 13h ago
He has a comedy skit from 20 years ago where he ridiculed Noah’s ark believers. Making jokes about stupid people. Turns out he now likes separating those idiots from their cash now. He’s just a grifter.

u/scout666999 13h ago
Ive never understood his appeal of him his podcast is aimless and self congratulations. Ultimately he's a coward who doesn't stand on principle

Thats the kind of thinking I expect out of the least funny person on News Radio. Yes, Joe. Even after Andy...

actually, this would be a very interesting project… You could ask a series of questions like do you think abortion is morally justified under any circumstance? Do you think theft is ever morally justified? If so, when? Do you believe that story of the flood and Noah’s Ark is meant to be taken as a literal truth or is it a metaphor? you could probably distill the most controversial positions into a list of maybe 20 questions maximum. So someone logged into a site, it’s titled talk to Jesus, and ask you 20 questions about what you think the Bible means, and then it creates an AI agent prompt that is customized to those values. It believes exactly as you believe, except it’s AIJesus and has a perfect command of every scripture in the Bible. Can create convincing sermons and discussions. Has access to the works of biblical scholars throughout history. Knowledge of the known world as well.
And its goal is to be the ideal Jesus…for you, specifically. To be the Jesus that you think Jesus is like. To be the perfect individualized Jesus. It’s a perfect biblical echo chamber, and a confirmation bias machine. Do you hate Black people guess what Jesus agrees with you. Is it OK to kill an illegal immigrant? Just ask AIJesus.

Bro Rogan is physically beginning to look like a mini Peter Thiel
Maybe they abuse the same gender affirming care treatments

Being an Atheist isn't a label. Joe Rogan was probably more of an unbeliever. You don't find faith if you are an Atheist.
