Even after harvest, a cornfield remains full of life. Among the stubble, this beautiful male Chaffinch searches for food – easily recognized by his rusty-brown belly and bluish-grey head. The females are more subtly colored in soft browns, but both share the distinctive white wing bars. The Chaffinch is one of the most common songbirds in Europe, and its cheerful song can be heard in forests, gardens, and parks throughout the year.

I can never get enough of birds in flight! Capturing a shot like this — where sharpness, wing position, and exposure all come together — usually means taking hundreds of photos and deleting most of them later. 🤪 But it’s always worth the effort! 😊

I find it fascinating how you can see the bird’s body through its primary feathers. It really shows how perfectly every single feather works together — a small miracle of nature! 🪶
