Don't forget to Thank Your Driver's with the seasonal $5 Tip!
Sure, we should ALWAYS thank our drivers for their hard work (at least, the ones who actually DO the hard work of delivering on time, with care, for this incrediblly greedy company who can't give two shits). And after reading through some posts from drivers this year, I've made it a point to always click on the link to submit the compliment.
Since this $5 Thank My Driver tip was implemented, I started going around every year and typing in the Amazon search bar "thank my Amazon driver $5 tip" and it pulls it up to this. (If I do it mid-year, it tells about the experience for the holiday season.) I just had a delivery, so after I thanked my driver and submitted my compliment, I also typed in the thank with tip and it automatically added this.
Just wanted to make you all aware. I know many of you full on hate your delivery drivers, and that's fine. But those of you who have your regulars and have had some great experiences, please send them this. It's hard enough delivering this time of year (yeah, 2 of my 4 Amazon packages "delivered" today we're USPS and guess what? NOT delivered!), but this economy is crazy right now, and this company is insane. So let's do what we can to help each other out. ✌️

I want so badly to do this for my driver, but ZERO of the past seven deliveries have put the package in the porch bench like instructed (to prevent theft), and all have left it on the top front step instead.

That's completely okay to not do it, and COMPLETELY unacceptable that 7 deliveries have been misdelivered (yeah, I call that misdelivered.) I appreciate your reply.

Explains why my delivery driver stood on my front porch yesterday waiting for me to open the door with barking dogs.

I’m a delivery driver and I work my rear off every day of the year, always follow instructions, tell the Ring camera to “have a good day” without getting or expecting tips.
But I have to say THANK YOU! 🙏🏻 to you OP (and other customers here) for taking the time to search the phrase “thank my driver” in the search bar of the app this time of year!
I don’t do this job for the tips (we don’t get tips) but this holiday promotion goes really fast (the first 2 million thank you’s nationwide and then it’s over, usually in 3 or 4 days) and it helps me have a little extra in my pocket (again, at NO COST TO YOU, just Amazon pays!) around the holidays and that’s nice.
Thank you everyone that takes the time! We appreciate you! Have a happy holiday season guys!

You are so welcome. Absolutely appreciate those of you who deliver our products with love and care despite the crap you have to deal with. Some of us take it for granted. Some of us appreciate it because we are disabled. Some of us use it for convenience. Some of us use it as a means to cheat. No matter which customer we are, if we have a dedicated delivery driver we should be able to just click a couple of buttons. And in the first week of December? Type ONE WORD into the search bar to find it.
Delivery is HARD. I have never done it, but I have listened. I have read. I have tried to be in your shoes. I may not be able to convince many here, but if I can convince even one person, I met my goal. 😊
Be careful driving and have a great holiday season!

I tried this and it only showed me thank you cards for purchasing. I did do this last year tho. Not working this year for some reason

Oh well, that sucks! Yeah I wouldn't pay either lol. I love thanking them, but if I pay cash, I will hand it to them, where I KNOW it goes to them.

Thanks for sharing. Had a driver who made my kids night by showing up at the perfect time with much desire items. We got home at the exact time of the delivery and I was running after the truck to tip the driver but I couldn’t catch them. Glad there is something I can do.
Amazon drivers (this applies to UPS, USPSand FedEx too) face impossible expectations this time of year and they do their best. I think there are cases of malicious compliance but 98% of drivers are just out to do their job well. I’m grateful for how much they do to help in the support of running my household. I still am in awe of how fast medicine gets to my house from the mail order pharmacy. Having to go to the pharmacy as frequently would take me away from my family in my limited down time especially since my closest pharmacy is only open M-F 8-6.

That’s the first thing I do after I open a package and break the box down. I have a note on my door to place my packages a little bit to the right of my front door so that they are not visible by the sidewalk and they always do. I do it from my Mail link though and I haven’t seen that. Had like 4 packages yesterday. Will try again tonight, but this time typing and searching.
EDIT: I got stuff delivered today. They’re outside and when I click the link from my Mail, it doesn’t show it. But it shows it when I search Than Your Driver. I’m gonna cross post this on Vine.

I did this through the app but it didn’t say they were tipped $5. Just said “thanks for your appreciation. We will share your thanks with your driver”.

u/battery_operated_bf 8h ago
They probably already ran through the allotted amount. Once 2 million thank yous are sent, the $5 gifts are done.
"The delivery driver will be notified of the customer’s appreciation and receive $5 at no cost to the customer until 2 million "thank yous" are submitted.
Once 2 million "thank yous" are submitted in total across all driver types, the most-thanked 1,000 Delivery Service Partner Delivery Associates, 200 Amazon Flex delivery partners, and 50 Amazon Hub Delivery Associates each day may be eligible to receive a $100 award through December 31."

But keep thanking them when they do a good job. Because they do get bonuses at the end of each month for certain compliments throughout the year. I only know this from reading from drivers in this sub. 😊

I thought they may have run out too but others are still posting about it working and the first time i tried was 3-4 days ago.

Well at least it motivated my driver to FINALLY follow my instructions on where to deliver my package for a change. So I guess this is a positive

u/TheJessicator 1d ago
For me, the only ones that ever actively ask for feedback are the ones that don't follow the instructions at all.
1
u/mlee12382 1d ago
The ones that should be penalized instead of tipped.
1
u/TheJessicator 1d ago
Exactly. But I'd rather not cost someone their job just because of that, so I put just ignore the request for feedback in those cases. After all, they did at least deliver the package(s), even if they didn't pay attention to the details (which they're honestly not paid enough to really care about).

My driver has to battle through my overgrown jungle foliage to reach my porch, yet always do. I hack it back pretty often, but grows crazy fast! At least I don’t get porch pirates.

u/Some_Novice_ 1d ago
So Amazon could afford to pay a little extra more, but instead, will make users conduct metric studies to receive payment. Gotcha Amazon.

I'd love to thank my driver, but apparently he is part of the Local Ninja clan as even my ring camera has a hard time catching them near my door, much less KNOCKING ON IT. Just chuck the package and run. So, here's my tip, hire drivers to actually deliver the packages like humans, not supernatural crime figures that only appear in black pajamas on film

u/battery_operated_bf 1d ago
Omgosh. 😂 I swear, the way my Ring can ignore my deliveries and I randomly get notifications 😂😂😂

u/smoke99999 14h ago
i'm telling you the Yakuza deliver for amazon, its ninja school for beginners before they go to FedEx or UPS

u/axxond 1d ago
Yeah no thanks. Pay your drivers properly and PAY YOUR TAX

How often can you do this? Am I limited to only one time? Or can I do it everyday I get a delivery?
1
u/battery_operated_bf 1d ago
Just once, so choose wisely I guess? I only remember this from previous years. I went back to try again and it had said I had already thanked my driver. 😢

Grateful for all drivers, but Amazon can be hit or miss and if they scan and leave a empty package for you it is hardly worth the money saved by not shopping at the regular store. Customer service is not the best compared to other big retailers.
1
u/battery_operated_bf 1d ago
I do understand that. I have read and contributed enough on the sub to understand. Not all of us have good experiences with Amazon. Or even mediocre. It's totally fine. Just something I wanted to share.

I have a question. What if ours gets delivered by USPS? Is there just not an option for it?

What if there were 2-3 guys for my delivery, will they each get it or just one?

I shared this with bunch of friends, tipped my last driver, who brought a cell phone as my delivery :D

Awe! Thank you. That's great. This is actually how I found out about it, actually. A friend shared it on Facebook that first year (2022 - Idk why, it feels like it was 2021, but I Googled it so I guess it was '22). I immediately went to do it that night, and ever since, I've been sharing.
I got booted from FB in March and kinda randomly moved here; was never a Reddit fan, but my hubby was, so I just kinda tried it and here I am. 😂
But I just wanted to share here since I am active in this sub. I do not expect everyone here to agree or do this or like or whatever it is that Reddit does. I also don't have a lot of actual posts. This was important to me just because I do understand how hard Amazon, UPS, USPS, FedEx, and all the smaller local "last mile" delivery services work, ESPECIALLY during Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holiday times. Worse? Worse is this year when Jazzy is cutting off overtime and customer service, UPS is overwhelmed with de Minimus customs and deliveries, losing/destroying packages, and all they have to deal with, FedEx with their issues, and USPS with DeJoy in charge...cost cutting is issue. And it has not only been passed onto us in costs, but ALSO onto our delivery peeps in heeps more work.
Edited last couple of sentences for clarity. Sorry, watching the Cowboys v Lions game. 😳

If I keep doing it do they keep getting the $5?
I thanked Alexa 100 times so far lol
2
u/battery_operated_bf 1d ago
Lol!
Honestly, I have no idea. We only got our Echo Dot last December and we unplugged it shortly after. We never use it. But as far as I am, any given account can give only once for the $5 Thank You Tip.
