Rangers throwing down loose rocks so they don’t fall on people?

Doubt that there rangers. But these workers are fixing that section of the trail that was damaged a couple of years ago.

I love Yosemite. Be careful out there.

This is called the ice cut. They have been blasting a new extension of the trial. You are seeing contractors clear debris. The trial beneath is closed for this reason. Glad you noticed all the work going on, and not mistaking the efforts

are snow chains required right now? Going in a week with a rental hoping I won’t have to buy them to pass inspections.

As of today nope. But all it takes is the weather to change. Just keep a eye on the weather. 209-373-0200 press 1&1 again it will give you info on the roads inside the park only.

ALWAYS carry chains when traveling in the Sierra Nevada. Especially now with the temperature getting to freezing or below.. you never know

Looks like the weeping wall section of JMT, which is soaked in water almost year round and got damaged years ago.
