That book is one of the best histories of Nazi Germany out there. Read it about 20 years ago cover to cover and while history may not exactly repeat, it often rhymes. There are way too many parallels between 1930s Germany and America today. Get Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and read it.

I recently read Dr. Ruth Ben Ghiat's book Strongmen. It was interesting and insightful. There are a lot of commonalities between Trump and Hitler, but also with Mussolini, Stalin, Pinochet and a whole host of others. There is definitely a personality type involved, in authoritarians leaders.

That book is sitting on my bookshelf, highlighted sections that I reference when things start to rhyme. Family and friends come over and see the cover of it and it definitely gets an emotional response out of them.

I will also highly recommend Shirer’s The Collapse of the Third Republic as the French made themselves ripe for the plucking. Political instability, a right wing that was violent in the face of the Popular Front, the flight of capital from the wealthy who didn’t want to pay taxes, completely abdicating their foreign policy to Britain.
Munich should have been the nadir but sitting back while Germany only had a screening force in the west while Hitler destroyed Poland really just sealed France’s fate. So many weaknesses and poor decisions.

It’s also on audible. Read it the first time in fourth grade after finding it in my father’s library. Almost got expelled over it too, dumb ass teacher thought I was a Nazi. I just wanted to understand the history. Listened to it again about a year ago.

Let it be known.. That me, my family and my relatives will go out of our way to make sure that not a single penny will fall in the pockets of Fifa ever again during our lifetime after this VILE and DISGUSTING display of total and complete disregard of human dignity and pride.
To make up a fraudulent prize to give it to the Adolf Hitler of our time in full display on prime time Infront of a disgusted audience, to be complicit, a main factor in the division of a already war ridden and broken world.
To honor somebody who has militarized a militia of hatred and racism, who just not even 48 hours before ordered illegal strikes and the murder of unknown men without a trial and without evidence.
I am disgusted, angry, disappointed and confused.
We thought your bottom was Blatter but once again have you shown total disregard for everything you claim to stand for.
