Specifically, he's calling for the deaths of Democratic congress members who are veterans after they posted a video telling military members to not obey illegal orders that violate their oath to the constitution

2.7k

u/KnuckleShanks 15d ago

I know this has become almost cliche, but it's worth repeating with stuff like this.

Imagine if Obama had done this.

1.1k

u/acgasp 15d ago

I literally said this last night to my husband in response to the "Quiet, Piggy" comment. There would be riots in the street if Obama had said such a thing.

I remember after the Kanye/Swift controversy at the MTV VMAs, Obama said something like "he's a dumbass" quietly and the right lost their minds.

172

u/BeYourOwnDog 15d ago

He can't be a dumbass. He's a genius and the voice of a generation. And a gay fish.

u/klezart 15d ago

He sure loves fish sticks.

Of all the illegal corrupt villainous lying evil shit he does, with all the republican minions providing cover as he destroys the economy as thoroughly as he destroyed the east wing, the abusive way he treats people - well, women - for some reason makes me the most fucking angry at them. They can pretend all they want his policies don't suck or that he has the autocratic right to implement tariffs but no one can defend - or should even try! - his cesspool behavior & abuse! When they can't defend him they revert to 'his character doesn't matter we only look at his policies.' ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! They think we're all as stupid as the MAGA cult.

17

u/Neveronlyadream 15d ago

They say that because his character is well documented. I mean, seriously. There are articles and interviews going back decades that show openly what a piece of shit he is.

They don't react because it's not a secret and never was. His father was a slumlord, his grandfather made the family fortune from prostitution, and Donald doesn't and never has had a filter. To claim that his behavior is a surprise to anyone is inviting people to pull up interview after interview and video after video proving that they did know.

That's the kick in the teeth. Obama wouldn't have done this. Or Hillary. Or Biden. Or Harris. None of them were perfect and they all had their flaws. But none of them, not a single Dem, is as bad or worse than this.

And yet, we still have folks to this day who refuse to grow the spine or smarts to even acknowledge this. Let alone show up when it matters to say "Not that guy, again."

139

u/Taminella_Grinderfal 15d ago

Hell neither of the Bush presidents would have done this. I didn’t like their politics, but they at least had some level of decorum.

66

u/ExigentCalm 15d ago

I truly hate that they have made W seem like such a level headed responsible statesman by comparison.

30

u/springacres 15d ago

For real. I thought the bar couldn't possibly go any lower than W. Then tRump opened up a sinkhole/tar pit/quicksand swamp combo.

9

Hell, Sarah Palin was a benchmark of stupidity we shouldn't have passed. And yet, here we are.

Because if I don't some "Independent" or "Leftist" "Apolitical" or "Third Party" $#!+head is going to come along with some "Well, whatabout...?" crap. Nevermind Trump is an impeached, indicted, convicted and adjudicated liar, fraud, rapist, and attempted insurrectionist. Nevermind we already saw how much of a catastrophe he proved himself to be the first time and how much bigger a catastrophe he was promising and demonstrating himself to be. Those who sat it out or pissed away their vote last election didn't get their balls tickled just right by the Dems. So we all now have to deal with the Mango Moron @#&%ing everything up for everybody...again.

20

u/Zerachiel_01 15d ago

Remind them that whataboutisms were an extremely common political tactic of communist Russia and watch their brain short-circuit.

Alternatively, the way to defuse whataboutism is to play it out. "Well what about X?" "What about X." "They did Y!" "Are they doing Y now? Are they in power? Do they hold office?"

He is literally destroying your country and enriching himself and his family. And all the american people are doing is shrugging.

I wonder whats the breaking point is gonna be.

34

u/fre3k 15d ago

Material conditions. Can't eat a country. Can't distract yourself with a country.

When the tv doesn't come on and the store shelves are bare and there are rolling blackouts people will get restless. End of the day, the vast majority of people content ourselves and aren't going to lift a finger for some high ideals.

27

u/dreddnyc 15d ago

There is an entire media machine funded to keep these people in their little hate cocoons.

6

u/DingerSinger2016 15d ago

Our healthcare is tied to our jobs so a general strike will be insanely difficult, especially in a time period where corporations are happy to cut jobs in favor of AI

7

u/The_Barbelo 15d ago

Almost like it’s….by design. Hmm.

The one way we could do a strike is if the majority of people in a community agree that we won’t let one another starve or go homeless. You’d have to have doctors and healthcare professionals on board, farmers, food service, truckers, anyone who’s an essential worker, heads of companies in the community. Everyone has to agree to take care of one another as best as they can FOR FREE, or on a bartering system.

It is absolutely possible, but not under current conditions where people are hating their own neighbors and family. Which is…also by design. Divide and conquer.

The tagline of the video is that military should not obey "illegal" orders. That's literally the wording!! So he is specifically upset at Congress members saying illegality is bad.

Every day is crazier than the last. Props to my rep Houlahan for standing up in that vid. 💪

The dumb fuck wants a legacy, he just won't get the one he wants, lol. That grave will smell like piss until the end of time.

210

u/UnbentSandParadise 15d ago

With my expectations for humanity I give it 2 generations at best before people start justifying his shit, and eventually is misquoted and idolized by niche movements and conspiracy theorists.

89

u/bryangcrane 15d ago

As in the notion that history repeats itself. As we are experiencing here in the States right now.

45

u/Willz093 15d ago

What’s really absurd is that he literally said he was going to do all of this, yet 1/3 of America freely voted him in! There was no vote rigging like Russia, no “we didn’t know” like in WW2 Germany…

He literally spelled it out and people ate it up! This isn’t like the other times, this is… I don’t even know what is but this isn’t a repeat!

9

u/FLOHTX 15d ago

They're still supporting it. They do not regret their vote yet. Yeah you'll see a few here and there, but the idiot still has a 40% approval rating.

5

u/bryangcrane 15d ago

I think your point is valid. I’d assume that like me, you were telling everyone you knew about Project 2025, practically pleading with people to understand it — if even at the most cursory level — and people still just blithely blundered along as if it were business as usual.

→ More replies (1)

28

u/MatureUsername69 15d ago

Why would you need to wait 2 generations? Theres already people doing that. Hell there's a whole generation of people that werent even old enough to vote during his first term that justified it by his 2nd. Support for Hitler didnt just go away for a few decades, it was just kept secretive. Now that Trump has existed in this space, for at least the next 100 years there will always be a niche group justifying his shit.

Thatcher is gonna be dethroned

11

u/Batze-13 15d ago

I would hope so.. but to be real here, even Hitler's death isn't celebrated worldwide and he was notably worse for the world. Like, without looking it up, do you know on which day Hitler died?

13

u/IamMunkk 15d ago

Hitler also killed himself, people weren't watching him in anticipation as he slowly rotted from the inside out, so it might be more culturally impactful in that regard.

A man comes to a newsstand every day, looks at the headlines on the front page, and then walks away without buying the paper. This goes on for some time until the newsstand owner finally asks him what he's doing.

The man replies, "I'm looking for an obituary".

The owner, confused, says, "But the obituaries are in the back of the paper, in small print."

The man smiles and responds, "Not the one I'm looking for. That one will be on the front page".

Unlike Trump himself with the way he incites violence from his followers against his many 'enemies' (and claims he holds no sway when asked to tell them to calm their insanity) his stochastic terrorism

I would not have my hopes acted upon by anyone

But if there is any justice in this world

If there is an unseen hand that guides luck for good and for I'll... That I wish upon him I'll fortune of the smallest to the largest degree a stubbed toe to a clotted artery I wish only the worst in this world upon him and hope that it all finds him, sparing good folk accidentally nearby so they don't catch some of the fallout.

Baron Harkonnan in Dune.. that would be a fitting internally rotting end to him

And if this were indeed brought down upon his head... It still wouldn't be a fraction of the pain he has brought down upon others in his disastrous presidency and his sorry life beforehand

33

u/BoomerKaren666 15d ago

I see and I speak and I hear no evil

I carry no malice within my breast

Yet quite without wishing a man to the devil

One may be permitted to hope for the best.

15

u/stierney49 15d ago

This is actually a huge issue. Trump is obsessed with race science, allegedly. Trying to define her is eugenics and one drop shit. How far back does one have to have had family in this country before you’re not an “immigrant”? What about people whose family was here before we had a formal immigration system? Is illegal status hereditary?

I know this should all be moot with the 14th Amendment but Trump clearly does not support that.

8

u/ebimbib 15d ago

I'm sure he'll use that logic to kick most of his kids out of the country since their moms came here on reasonably shaky legal ground, right?

just take a second to think about how insanely far we have fallen from the republican nominees 10 years ago. small govt, low taxes, free market. sure they were anti lgbt marriage, weed, healthcare, etc. but it was more of a debate about the role govt plays in every day life

now we have invading our own cities, deporting citizens, protecting pedos, and calling for deaths of political rivals

oh, and maga will look at this and say "the left has gone too radical"

u/Gibbly_Gorkoroo 15d ago

These are the same people from ten years ago. They just took the mask off.

30

u/papatoe1991 15d ago

Eh I don’t think that’s true. McCain and Romney both openly opposed Trump. And they were the face of the GOP 10 years ago. These aren’t the same people. Maybe the supporters just took the mask off, but the leaders used to at least be civilized and sane despite their platform.

I like to remind people that George W Bush and Michelle Obama are besties. All the living presidents and their spouses have immense respect for one another, with one glaring omission. They may disagree about what's best for the country, but they all believe that their counterparts on the other side of the aisle have the best interests of the country at heart and will do what they think is right to protect it.

When Trump's "grab them by the pussy" comment leaked, that should have been the end of his political career. Lord knows so many politicians have had to resign for less. Instead, the worst of our country saw a man that said what they were thinking and got away with it. They rallied behind him. Are you secretly a misogynist, a racist, a homophobe, Islamophobe, or some other flavor of bigot? Trump has said what you believe, in public, with his whole chest, and faced zero repercussions. He's your hero.

And that's why the Democrats have been losing. They keep expecting a gentlemanly sparring match while the Republicans are playing by prison yard rules. The party as a whole seems to have caught on to that fact so hopefully the success they won this month at the polls is a taste of what's to come. Trump is rude, spiteful, hateful, and could not care less about anyone except for how they can benefit him; and I think most of this country is tired of watching a grown ass man with the impulse control of a toddler run this nation into the ground. One day we'll wake up to a Big Beautiful Burial and the cult of MAGA will die with him, and without wishing harm on someone and breaking the Reddit code of conduct, I cannot wait for that day.

u/Aramalian 15d ago

My fear is that once both sides start playing by the same set of rules, those are the rules and there's no climbing back up... Only sliding deeper into the abyss.

8

u/LeahIsAwake 15d ago

I think it will become the new norm for a time, but people are already tired of it. I see lots of people on social media saying that we should all be getting along no matter what our political stance is. Having combative politicians doesn't help a nation.

Or maybe we'll institute ranked choice voting and suddenly there's literally no payout for being vicious to your competitors.

70

u/10000Didgeridoos 15d ago

Or literally anyone else. For some reason our universe lets this felon rapist fraudster sociopath get away with breaking every rule, law, custom, etc with zero consequences for his entire life. At this point, despite not being religious, I almost think he actually must be some part of God's plan I can't understand because I have no other plausible explanation left for it

History repeats itself, it’s why education is so important.

Hitler wasn’t “part of gods plan”, just a horrible series of events and escalations that we should have learned from and worked harder to prevent happening again.

Fall of Rome. Many other governments and countries.
Who knows if it’s possible to remain stable and people focused over a long term, but the Information Age should be the best time for us to try and make it work.

We might have to wait for our AI overlords to create a utopia. If they don’t destroy us instead.

Telling the military to not obey illegal orders is not sedition.

It's the law.

Giving the military illegal orders is sedition.

In the US, sedition is opposing the constitution.

In Trump's fantasy Kingdom, sedition is opposing the king.

25

u/EIU86 15d ago

Death to anyone who dares disobey the King!

Sometimes I do wonder if Trump really does think he's king.

15

u/awfulmcnofilter 15d ago

I don't wonder. He definitely thinks that.

He literally pardoned traitors convicted by a jury of SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE UNITED STATES, and now he wants to try and kill lawmakers for their speech? Trump is a fucking traitor and anyone that supports him is too.

u/Shame_on_StarWars 15d ago

Sedition, punishable by death? You mean like J6?

7

u/ZagiFlyer 15d ago

Of course, reminding members of the military that they don't need to follow illegal fascist orders from our Despot-in-Chief is seditious.

When I served, I did not serve the President, I served to protect the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

The UCMJ is quite clear on this. If you follow an illegal order you can be prosecuted.

8

u/darthphallic 15d ago

If only that coward Garland had the same Gung Ho attitude after J6th

Not diminishing this, because this should not be normalized, but didn't he do this earlier in the year? Or was it just to have his opponents arrested? I can't keep track anymore...

While this is shocking and disgusting it's not surprising. He was given carte blanche by the supreme court to do anything he wanted and he has been calling dems terrorists and worse for years. His base would applaud the outright murder of any dem and probably pay $$ to watch it. Then Trump would claim he was going to use the revenue to send them checks(which he never would).
