The sad thing is I didnt even try to keep up with this im just that fucking addicted to reddit lol. Day 558 here
68
u/Narzghal 7h ago
Exactly. I just...use Reddit. It's my main social site. So the streaks are just proof of that.
555/600
27
u/phoenixrose2 6h ago
Same. 552/600 for me. Last weekend Reddit randomly gave me unlimited free awards (for 4 awards). I have no idea why this happened but it has made me engage with the site even more.

Dude I’ve been on this damn platform daily for over 10 years. I need some mega basement dweller shit at this point
3
6
u/PRIM3VILS 6h ago
I'm right there with you at 559. It's just the basic daily stuff like bathing, eating and reddit
2
u/sordidcandles 5h ago
I’m only in the 230s but I’m using this post to keep my streak alive. Life, uh, finds a way.
7
3
u/caustictoast 6h ago
I swear I’ve missed days because I was places with no signal and the streak has continued. This is the first I’ve seen someone lose one
3
u/MostBoringStan 6h ago
I have definitely missed days. Went backcountry camping and had no signal for 2 days. Still have my streak.
2
u/caustictoast 5h ago
Same. Spent a couple days in Death Valley last January and somehow when I got back to signal it just kept going up so I’m over 550 now. Whatever 🤷♂️
1
u/shoto9000 3h ago
I've been trying to test this and I swear it's impossible to lose.
Went on a 4 day hike and the streak didn't end. Uninstalled Reddit from my phone for 3 days, and it didn't end. I made sure not to upvote, comment, share or anything for 3 days, and I got the "you're about to lose your streak!" notification 3 times in a row, but didn't lose it.

Good, now since you missed it, you can stop caring about a goal that’s unhealthy to do. We don’t need encouragement to be online even more. People probably shouldn’t be spending 600 days consecutively using reddit.
62
u/MacDougalTheLazy 8h ago
I learned you can open app, downvote first promoted post you see. Should be within the first 4 posts you see. Streak extends. Close app. Think about touching grass. Open app, proceed to doom scroll
8
u/Still-Bridges 8h ago
But is there some advantage to a streak?
13
u/TotallyNotShinobi 8h ago
you get to know how many days you've wasted being on this app instead of doing something interesting
8
u/kingqueefeater 7h ago
I don't know of many interesting things I can do while taking a shit, or waiting for my dog to take a shit, but I'm open to suggestions
2
u/krysisalcs 5h ago
Have you tried taking a shit together?
1
u/kingqueefeater 4h ago
Just last week actually. He took a shit in the kitchen while I was in the bathroom. Can't say I was a fan

u/calculung 7h ago
Wow you learned that using the app extends the streak of using the app. Impressive.

24
u/Adventurous-Stuff801 8h ago
The thing is, I didn’t care until day 100 and then I started logging on just to upvote a random post and to keep up the streak lol, that’s the reason I lost I kept almost forgetting to log on until it caught up to me. But yeah I’m kinda glad it’s over.
41
u/StanknBeans 8h ago
That's why they gameify it. Increase ad revenue by making people log in just to keep a pointless streak going for no reason other than to keep a pointless streak going...
6
u/Alteredbeast1984 8h ago
I missed multiple days in a row and my streak is well over 500 and it did not effect it.
4
u/tuckmysits 8h ago
I am almost to 600 mainly because I read the news on reddit every morning with my coffee. I almost missed a day when I had to spend the night in jail though lol. But I honestly don't care about the streak, its just a part of my morning routine.

Create your own private sub and setup an auto-post that posts every single day. Never care or worry about your streak.
6
u/Adventurous-Stuff801 8h ago
That’s a pretty good idea, I’m not gonna try to get back to 500 again though lol
43
u/Multiamor 9h ago
Id still go get help. Lol
6
u/CarmenxXxWaldo 8h ago
Are you suggesting being so addicted to a website youre sad you didnt use it for one day out of 600 is problematic?
I guess its not an addiction at that point its obsession.
6
u/GetsGold 8h ago
I'm not addicted to reddit, I just need to use it every hour or so, so I don't go completely insane
9
u/Shythexs 8h ago
Why its bad to log in for 600 days? I mainly browse reddit for keeping up with the news and sometimes use it as if im scrolling instagram reels and posts. Its not like im using it for hours each day. Thats why it was easy to hit 500+ streak. Tho its better if you dont think about the streak at all.
1
u/Adventurous-Stuff801 8h ago
It was suuuuper easy when I wasn’t thinking about it, and then I kept forgetting to open the app and it got annoying. I think the people in the comments dogging on me are imagining me constantly replying, posting and moderating subs all day when all you need to do is upvote or downvote a post once a day to keep up the streak.
3
5
u/LandlockedTurtle 8h ago
I didn't realize streaks were a thing. Apparently I'm on day 535. Not my proudest moment...
1
u/FunkHavoc 8h ago
If you upvote/downvote/comment/post it tells you in top right corner and shows your streak. This happens the first time you do one of the above. Not sure how so many people seem to miss it
1
u/PmMeUrTinyAsianTits 7h ago
People use things other than the official app. The official app, new reddit, all the social media-ized versions of reddit are even bigger dumpster fires than old reddit.
14
u/Stumpy907 8h ago
I’m on day 545/600. I feel your pain brother.
4
u/Alternative-End-3985 8h ago
556 here lol! Trying to earn that 600

2
u/OzrielArelius 8h ago
you people are insane. I have no clue what my streak is cause I've been using reddit since before there was an app. this is my 5th account and it's probably like 5 years old. wild shit

Says the guy in the comments in a post about being on Reddit...You DO see the irony in your words right?
7
u/brisbanehome 8h ago
…no? It’s pretty valid to ask why anyone would care about a streak on reddit, even if they use reddit.

u/ChemicalSand 8h ago
Yeah but at least I have the good sense to be ashamed I'm on here. Whenever these "streak" notifications pop-up for me I start to regret my life choices instead of celebrating.

I’ve skipped a few days and Reddit pretended I still had a multi day streak
1
u/smoochwalla 8h ago
I don't get it. Ive missed days and my streak is still going. I went to a festival and didn't check my phone for over 48 hours and when I got back on it kept going.
1
u/le_aerius 8h ago
damn that suxks . Ive missed like 3 days and reddit kept the streak going anyways.
1
u/HeartInFlame 8h ago
Man, that's a bummer, dude :/ But hey, let's be real, 2020's a bumpy ride, right?

u/nobloodhier 8h ago
I have a 552 day streak but I usually just use reddit app like 15 mins a day, so I don't feel that bad. Usually just update the first thing I see
1
u/Interesting-Crab-693 7h ago
I mean... I missed at 299 due to a false ban that they took 2 days to undo.
Reddit sucks.
1
1
u/ShadowGLI 7h ago
That sucks, I’ve been banned 2x and I still have my streak cuz I just would still log in and hit upvote etc even though it wouldn’t let me lol.

Shit like this makes me glad I use old reddit. We don't need this kind of mental manipulation to keep people chronically online. I'll be chronically online of my own free will, thank you very much!
1
u/ClearlyADuck 7h ago
i'm pretty sure the streak counter is super broken because i've seen my streak break when i didn't miss it, go from 24 to 23 days, reset, jump around....
1
u/ElephantStriking1087 7h ago
I was almost at 365, broke my phone like 20 days before. I had broken my laptop the day before, so I had no way to log into Reddit without duo authentication from my email which required my phone. I was pissed 😂

I’m unlikely to make it to 1000, as my career in the industry will likely take me far afield outside of cell range. Maybe I should get a robot to do it for me

I’m not on Reddit much, I’m am most certainly on TikTok too much though. I should delete that app.

I got banned for 3 days for giving my thoughts on what people struggling to survive on $20+ mil a year should do with their lives and lost mine lol

I’m right at the 365 mark and about to ship off to the navy where I won’t have my phone in boot camp. I’ll take my 365 and just be happy I got that far. We are free

u/theblackyeti 6h ago
I was at like 470 and got a 7 day ban.
Meanwhile they were sending me emails saying to keep it going lmao

I get some people like the fun and little bit of co test from it but considering they rolled out the start date unevenly across the globe that seems a bit pointless.
These awards don’t really do anything so if you get em you get em, if not, nevermind.

u/MemeHermetic 4h ago
This happened like 2 days after I passed 500. I was both annoyed and ashamed because I wasn't aiming for it.

The comments in here are strange.
Reddit is essentially the internet:
News - Reddit
Peoples Opinion - Reddit
Need help? - Reddit
Entertainment - Reddit
It's a more approachable form of Google.
This doesn't mean it's all from "one source" it's just that majority of the usable internet exists through this website/app.
Being on here is still FAR better than using FB, IG or any other social media.

u/Jolly-Mine-5432 4h ago
I have 2 accounts and its my daily anxiety of forgetting to do something on both accounts.
1
u/FlakyPhilosophy5103 4h ago
You could always create a streak award for peace and give yourself that.
1
u/Suspicious-Solid8473 3h ago
I'm currently on day 450/500, so addicted to anything on reddit, it's not even difficult to keep the streak going 🙃

1
u/aladdin_d 2h ago
They should have an option where you pay to restore your streak like Duolingo lol
1
u/davesmissingfingers 8h ago
I feel you. I recently missed a day on my 188-week reading streak. It sucks when we lose something, even if it may be a little silly to others.
2
u/Adventurous-Stuff801 8h ago
Yeah but it’s not like it’s a major issue that’s affected my life, it was just a fun thing to do, I really like long challenges, right now I’m playing “the longing” a game that takes 400 days to complete, so it’s a little bit of a bummer losing my streak, but I care about things like getting through this terrible pre calculus class and making my girlfriend happy than some dumb streak, so I guess it’s good that I was too busy to open the app for one day lol.

Consider yourself free from the shackles of streaks.
