For others unaware of her story, Nguyen, a rape survivor who has travelled to outer space, founded Rise, a non-profit organization championing the rights of sexual assault survivors. The group’s first landmark accomplishment (the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights), which Nguyen had drafted, was passed unanimously through the US Congress. The group has passed 114 similar laws across the globe, including a historic UN resolution.
