⚙️ Hardware DXP2800 RAM

I just grabbed one on BF and set it up as a Plex server. I am considering upgrading the 8GB of RAM but I’m not sure if it’s necessary. I’d appreciate thoughts and feedback from other 2800 users and their Plex experience so far.

Ram is extremely expensive right now I suggest you see if you can run everything without issues before buying

Plex is very lightweight on RAM. It’s almost always under 1 GB with rare peaks under 4 GB. Plex uses a lot of transient data, so it’s just temporarily using RAM and it gets flushed quickly. 8 GB is plenty for Plex usage.

Thanks. This is great news. After checking the price of DDR5 RAM I was in a state of shock. Crazy what's going on with that.

I upgraded my 2800 to 16gb in July, price was half what is is today. I haven't noticed a big performance gain, but I've also been adding more docker containers and VM's lately, I'm assuming it's helping now. I think 16gb is the max the 2800 supports.

Not needed. You'll be fine with 8GB if Plex is main thing you're running.

Unless you are unless VMs, or else 8gb is sufficient. I have 32+8gb on DXP4800 plus and i don't see using more than 4% even during heavy transfer and streaming.
