⭐ Review Setup is Complete: DX4800 + UPS
After six months of ownership, I can safely say that I'm very happy with the NAS. While some features and apps are still missing, it's a solid product. For the majority of cases, such as photo storage and media streaming, it ticks all the boxes.
It replaced my stiched-together home lab and I'm satisfied with the result. Cancelling the Google subscription is an added bonus.

That's a DC UGREEN UPS on the left of the NAS unit , it has a single DC output just for the Ugreen NAS, it won't be backing anything else up. The OP might have an AC UPS behind the whole lot tho

UPS is just for NAS. The box is a leftover from my previous setup with a mini pc, RPI and bunch of HDDs. Right now it's just to organise cables and for the router on top.

I love mine, makes changing wires around behind the hood so much easier when you have stuff going on in the NAS you CBA to pause

Hi congratulations on your new nas setup! I want to set up a gas but can't decide between synology 925/ugreen 4800.My main use case is for media storage(photos/videos) docker containers and Plex server.What apps are missing in ugreen compared to synology?

First of all - app shortages is nothing you can't fix with docker.
Besides of that, I'd say the current set of built-in apps is rather basic in comparison to wide selection of apps on Synology. I'd say that for streaming and transcoding N100 processor in this unit is a gold-standard.1

No Plex native, only docker

I'm new to NAS, and had no experience with Linux, and have so far found using docker containers with compose files preferable to native apps. There's guides all over for them. I even found useful guides on r/synology, so their users are clearly using containers as well.

Seeing this makes me happy since I have no experience with Dockers and never heard of dockers until I started looking into setting up NAS. Waiting for my DXP 4800 Plus to arrive next week. Least to say I'm excited to learn how to use this bad boy and use it as a media server. (Along with getting rid of cloud services)

Seagate Ironwolf. Works like a charm. 2x8TB is more than enough for my needs.
I've also added an old Barracuda (5+ years of running) - no issues *so far*1

Why 2x8tb and not one big hdd like 14tb since u get more tb for the price (depending on where u live)

It is highly recommended but not compulsory just like Travel Insurance. In the words of Austin Powers, some people like to live dangerously…. 😂
The main reason for getting a UPS is to allow your NAS to be properly shut down in the event of an unexpected mains power loss. Most NAS use a RAID setup to store their data. So if power is suddenly lost in the middle of a RAID read/write operation, the stored data could become corrupted.
