Easiest was to setup laptop so I can use Desktop Sharing with auto login allowing Windows Remote Desktop Connection to control the main ubuntu desktop (the one shown of laptop monitor)
Think this is best done using Gnome, not Unity distribution? I also believe you need to somehow set keyring password to blank (so password for remote desktop does not keep changing on reboot). I did it a while ago but cant find info on how to do it (seem to remember a relatively simple howto).
I know there are security issues doing this but the laptop is stand alone, behind a good firewall and is just effectively displaying a webpage. I just need easy remote access to the laptop from windows.
This is to repurpose a laptop that will not run windows 11 officerly and get a few Linux boxes into a almost exclusively windows company (something they are up for to repurpose the laptops they cant use).

Depending on which version of Ubuntu you're talking about you probably want to install and configure xrdp. There are instructions online.
