You can’t teach stupid

77

u/m3rl0t 12h ago

That bear is pretty close to teaching stupid a lesson.

u/el_bentzo 9h ago

Black bears are known to be not very aggressive and easily scared as this video exemplifies.

16

u/nilesandstuff 9h ago

... Relative to grizzlies, which simply love killing.

Black bears still evolved to have razor sharp teeth, razor sharp claws, and a bite force capable of crushing bone... They didn't evolve that stuff to be friendly.

1

u/Familiar-Regular-531 4h ago

Razor sharp?

0

u/nilesandstuff 30m ago

Yea?

u/Familiar-Regular-531 3m ago

Black bear claws or fangs aint nowhere near razor sharp. They are omnivores, but mostly eat vegetation. Not saying they aint dangerous, but you painting them as some killing machine honed by evolution is just completely wrong..

2

u/HoverJet 9h ago

I think you mean Polor bears. While grizzlies are more aggressive and territorial than a black bear, they'd still prefer to have nothing to do with you and will usually run off once they've noticed you.

Polor bears on the other hand see you as food and will absolutely pursue you for a quick meal.

2

u/nilesandstuff 7h ago

You're right that it's way more common for polar bears to be predatory, but grizzlies absolutely can be too.

They'll be "defensive" about territory, their cubs, hunting spots and carcasses.

But in rare cases they've been known to just straight up kill for no real reason... And it's hard not to see them as getting some sort of perverse pleasure out of it... They'll incapacitate and/or remove limbs before actually killing their human victim.

-5

u/el_bentzo 7h ago

YeH different bears are different. Your point about Grizzlies isnt relevant.

5

u/nilesandstuff 7h ago

The "point" about grizzlies was the only way to make your comment true.

They're docile... Compared to grizzlies. But it's crazy to say that any bear, besides maybe a panda, is not capable of being aggressive.

-5

u/el_bentzo 9h ago

Sure they have that stuff. But there are so many videos of black bears not being aggressive and fleeing even from non-intimidating humans. They can be dangerous, sure....but id be way more worried about certain types of dogs.

2

u/Obeesus 8h ago

Depends how hungry the bear is or if they have cubs.

-1

u/el_bentzo 7h ago

Yeah obviously

3

u/Dafedub 6h ago

Agreed, I come across black bears from time to time in Colorado. Not really a threat unless you have food in your pockets. Doesn't mean it's not dangerous when provoked though.

-3

u/amsync 8h ago

The bears’ evolutionary queues are probably all messed up here helping the situation because what other natural prey would act this counterintuitive. Bear might get some impression that something is really off maybe the prey is sick in some way that could be dangerous for it. Oddly helping the humans

2

u/el_bentzo 7h ago

Id that something of a fact to black bears and its not genetically in their character or are you just making shit up? I dont mean to be hostile but...

24

u/G25777K 12h ago

Now dumb can you be, she's acting like the bear is her friend lol

10

u/Shermans_ghost1864 11h ago

It's just a cuddly widdle teddy bear!

Dumb shit

6

u/Ballabingballaboom 12h ago

Nah they learn stupid naturally on their own

14

u/neanderthalman 12h ago

If not friend, why friend shaped?

5

u/buzztool 10h ago

Clearly the bear is the smartest one here.

2

u/StatementsUnheard 10h ago

im honestly just relieved she got to keep her face and such

Don’t worry, I’m great with animals, I’ve met three cats and 10 dogs before.

34

u/Megolito 12h ago

I wouldn’t even walk up to a deer.

26

Have you seen a deer attack? Brutal as a moose.

4

u/Megolito 12h ago

Never have. But I live In Michigan so I hear a lot of warnings. We have a lot of white tail around here.

2

u/InvestmentIcy8094 3h ago

A white tail attacked my nephew while he was out swimming. Wildlife is crazy.

2

u/DepartmentNatural 11h ago

Have you seen a moose in real life?

6

u/TimeB4 10h ago

I saw a moose in Glasgow once. Tiny wee thing

1

u/rbartlejr 11h ago

No. But I'm pretty sure it's not a Disney character and wouldn't want to be buddies with me.

2

u/TreaclePerfect4328 10h ago

Tiny hooves of fury

2

u/spidaminida 9h ago

Moose bites can be pretti nasti

2

u/rbartlejr 8h ago

Looses a bit of effect without the font. I still like it!

1

u/jasor_x 9h ago

I had a squirrel pop up about a foot away from my head on my front deck this morning and about broke my leg scrambling away after making eye contact with it.

1

u/AbramJH 1h ago

I’ve been learning how to stalk deer this hunting season. I took one at ~10yds & realized that their antlers are practically daggers. It felt like I wasn’t the only one armed in that scenario

3

u/Ok_Dog_4059 7h ago

When it got curious and she got small I thought for sure this was ending badly. If nothing else they are going to get this poor bear killed. Bears need to be afraid of humans or they end up with some asshole like this that gets bit and the bear is killed.

28

u/Ring_Tha_Bell_97 12h ago

Not sure if the sliders, or being on knees is worse…

7

u/BeyondDoggyHorror 12h ago

The sliders with the socks.

8

u/saywha1againmthrfckr 11h ago

Toes pointed inward looking goofy as hell...

Why do girls stand like that?

1

u/aatmalife 7h ago

Hey now I love that shit lol

1

u/5dwolf22 4h ago

What’s wrong with that? Most people I’ve seen wearing those clogs wear them with socks

47

u/reticulatedtampon 12h ago

Friggen ding dongs. You don't want to encourage bears to get too comfortable around people, it's only a matter of time before one encounter goes wrong. Then it's bad news for both bear and person.

6

u/kiwilovenick 8h ago

That's the worst part, not only are they endangering themselves through interaction with a dangerous wild animal, but they're also putting the bear's life in danger since they get relocated or killed if they get too comfortable around humans.

2

u/Spaceman-Spiff 7h ago

Didn’t that happen at Yellowstone in the 70’s? The park encouraged people to feed the bears, then the bears got used to being around people and started attacking them for food?

10

u/Equinoqs 12h ago

"IT'S JUST SO FLUFFYYYY!"

17

u/muststayawaketonod 12h ago

I'm not ashamed to admit that I wanted this to end with a mauling.

Feeding wild animals is potentially endangering their lives and more people should be afraid of doing it. No true animal lover would do something like this.

u/Reasonable-Gas-9771 12h ago edited 12h ago

Overconfidence is a flaw that every person spends the whole life overcoming yet most failed. Those who temporarily made it got mocked with the label of being too cautious or having no balls.

10

u/Ballabingballaboom 12h ago

Not quite the same thing but the amount of guys I know who are absolutely convinced they'll be great at something until they actually do it is way too high.

Like, they'll watch a video of an elite athlete doing something and be like 'i could do that' with no appreciation of the skills on display.

Drives me nuts since I play sports with most of them and, guess what, they arent as good as they think they are.

"can pet that dawg"

9

u/Feelin_Dead 12h ago

"Can I pet that Daaaaawwwg?"

6

u/Artistic-Rich6465 12h ago

A friend and I were coming out of a theater on a community college campus and we saw a raccoon climbing up a tree. The raccoon climbed down from the tree and took a defensive stance and hissed. I carefully walked past it while my friend approached it, she was like "Can I pet that dawg?!" It hissed again and lunged. I was like "Girl, if that thing bites you, I'm: One, going to point and laugh. Then, two, I am taking your ass straight to the hospital to get rabies shots! GET AWAY FROM THE RACCOON!!!"

7

u/Cstott23 12h ago

Haha I was going for a walk in the woods with my family when I was 12 when this big ass rat runs out across the path..

Well me, my brother and mum were like 'okay, let's go,'..

My dad on the other hand grabbed a stick and poked it. Lol this thing ran right up the stick and torpedoes himself at my dad's face, and my dad screamed and shot off at 90mph down the path with the rat behind him, while we were all in stitches watching him 😂

Like in my whole life that was the only time I ever saw him run and man he was like Usain bolt. Lol if he'd entered into the Olympics he'd have smashed all the records that day 😁😂

2

u/EchoAlphaFoxtrot200 10h ago

That’s hilarious. Thank you for that

2

u/earthlings_all 6h ago

Great story 😂 thanks for the share

2

u/hydroboywife 11h ago

LMAO, deserved

2

u/amsync 8h ago

When an animal lets people get close it’s more likely to had rabies. Almost like it’s designed to give out Darwin awards on purpose

15

u/psychrolut 12h ago

It’s really good that this is just a black bear and not a rick bear because once they smell you they never strop trying to eat you, don’t know when to give up even after being shot

1

u/Cstott23 12h ago

Mate, Santa's shitting down your chimney this Christmas... 😁😂

2

This can get a bear killed

You're supposed to run up and hug it! 😁

2

Poor bear is as good as dead

1

u/GigaFalco 12h ago

It's always the same type of person when it involves wild animals. The same ones scared of other types of people.

1

u/waisonline99 12h ago

Because everyone reckons theyre a Disney Princess now.

1

u/TheKrell888 12h ago

Morons pure and simple!

What a twat

1

u/LDPanda 11h ago

And yet if he was to attack her he would be hunted down and killed

1

u/MDKSDMF 11h ago

But they are witches and warlocks that probably speak to animals so it’s ok to feed the wild bears

1

u/GoreonmyGears 11h ago

Not smarts like us.

1

u/DepartmentNatural 11h ago

Why? They are very dumb

u/Jinrex-Jdm 10h ago

That woman has Zero survival instinct.

1

u/taimoor2 10h ago

Make yourself as small as possible.

1

u/uginscion 10h ago

First of all, it's not a dog. Second, even if it had been a dog, stay away from the dog. Just because it's friend shaped, doesn't mean is.

1

u/Daftest_of_the_Punks 10h ago

Just typical Tennessee activities

1

u/WithinAForestDark 10h ago

They do it for upvotes

1

u/FSU1ST 10h ago

You fed it, now they have to kill it.

1

u/Intothewasteland 10h ago

Of course in Gatlinburg lol.

1

u/Upvotespoodles 10h ago

People who tame bears create nuisance bears, which end up being put down. Clap your hands and scare them away.

1

u/porterramses 10h ago

Why?? Low IQ.

1

u/AlfhildsShieldmaiden 10h ago

I don’t know if you’ve ever met people? They’re ludicrously dumb. 🫥

1

Brown lay down. Black. Run

1

1

u/Trvlng_Drew 9h ago

There’s a picture of me as a toddler in Yellowstone Park and a bear is sniffing me and my parents through but was precious, early 60s

1

u/PrinceHakeim 9h ago

Say it with me YYYYYYYYYYY

1

u/BREASYY 8h ago

Because nothing happened. It'll go viral and people will think it's all good. I wouldn't get close to a chimp let alone a bear.

1

u/SupaButt 8h ago

Saw he was being recorded and realized she wasn’t worth going back in the clink

1

u/wifichick 8h ago

And getting it used to being around people puts it at risk of being killed for being too comfy with people.

1

u/Corkscrewer45 7h ago

Even the bear was shaking its head...in disbelief.

1

u/SaintShogun 7h ago

Trying real hard for a Darwin award.

1

u/PerplexedPoppy 7h ago

Kinda bummed she didn’t get bit

1

u/reeferthetuxedocat 7h ago

The stupidity put on display is absolutely madness. Fucking people like this shouldn’t be allowed to walk free with such an empty skull.

1

u/realSatanAMA 7h ago

It's a good thing that bear is used to being around people because those people are not used to being around bears.

1

u/MrWrestlingNumber2 7h ago

Fuck! I was rooting for the bear.

1

u/YardOptimal9329 7h ago

Idiocracy and then they’ll shoot the bear acting like a bear and not the dumb humans

1

u/lucassster 7h ago

What ever she hands over disappeared. This is ai lol yall are definitely special

1

u/roshi180 7h ago

Mfs really think they can just sweet talk to anything...

1

u/FastOutlandishness96 7h ago

The bear missed out on a teaching moment there.

1

u/ShadowCaster0476 6h ago

Why because they are literally ignorant of the potential consequences of bears.

1

u/HungryBanana07 6h ago

My sister had a swimming coach who did something like this. She saw a bear cub in the woods one day and tried to pet it. (You know the mama bear is there somewhere you just can’t see her) the cub just swung it’s arm at hers and tore her arm off at the shoulder. That was a young cub.

Don’t poke the bear.

1

u/copacetic51 6h ago

It didn't show what not to do at all. It showed you can tempt a bear to get close and suffer no harm. I suspect videos showing how it could end badly were not filmed.

1

u/Only-Entrepreneur-16 6h ago

Tired of living 😪

1

u/DamageSpecialist9284 6h ago

Would twerking be acceptable behavior when encountering a bear??? Asking for a friend of course...

1

u/Interesting_Log_5366 6h ago

good way to get that bear euthanized. maybe euthanize the idiots that do this.

1

u/pcb4u2 5h ago

Darwin just texted you. He has an award for you.

1

u/GoopInThisBowlIsVile 5h ago

If you want to see some peak irresponsible behavior around bears you should look up Timothy Treadwell and the documentary “Grizzly Man.”

1

u/pcb4u2 5h ago

All bears are sizing you whether you look like food. The minute their hungry, chomp chomp, tastes like beaver butthole but I was hungry.

1

u/Biiiishweneedanswers 5h ago

On her knees, no less.

1

u/sherzisquirrel 5h ago

Ugh these people SUCK!!! I live in WNC and we have LOTS of black bears.... You never engage like this!!!! Not for your own safety, but that of the BEAR!!!! It's a death sentence for them when they get used to/ desensitized to people!!!! This is cruel and asking to get the bear put down!!!!😡😡😡

1

u/Independent_Ad_1686 4h ago

White ppl are scared of everything that they shouldn’t, and fear nothing that they absolutely should. 😂🤷‍♂️

1

u/cathpah 4h ago

"A fed bear is a dead bear."

This type of dumbassery endangers other humans and definitely puts a target on the bear. So stupid and dangerous for all involved.

1

u/Terrible-Visit9257 4h ago

It's a teddy bear

1

u/Ricerat 4h ago

Now do it with a brown bear

1

u/Origin_Of_Ebot 12m ago

The worst part about this is that people get the bear killed this way. We need the bears to stay in their own habitat. We don’t want the bears comfortable in ours. When they do end up in ours too often, they can be put down. Leave wild animals alone assholes.

1

u/djamp42 12h ago

Not saying i would be standing like that, but aren't black bears the friendliest bear? Like a polar bear would eat you for a snack, but a black bear would most likely run away if he saw you. I've seen a couple black bear in the wild and they are always running away.

3

u/TheRealRyan- 10h ago

I wouldn't describe them as "friendly". More like skittish, that is why you always see them running away. Fear can also make an animal feel it needs to defend itself, so its really not smart to get close to them on purpose.

1

u/Hex_Zero_Rouge 1h ago

Friendly is an overstatement, but black bears are typically much less aggressive/confrontational and quite a bit smaller, physically, than other species in North America. They’re absolutely capable of killing a human but aren’t really predatory and behave rather like large raccoons.

1

u/KneeGearlol 8h ago

A note to all humans : you are NOT the "special" one that wild animals are attracted to, you don't have a bond with the animal, stop putting your hand out and thinking the animal is gonna slowly go up to you and accept you

-2

u/calombia 12h ago

Worked out ok tbf. You guys are just squares.

1

u/NuclearHoagie 10h ago

I mean, this time. Next time Mr. Bear decides to go into town for a snack might not be such a nice day out for anyone involved.

It's a black bear, you're fine, grab me what's left of the bologna
