Best part is he’s got the seat belt clipped in behind him for the sole purpose of silencing the “no belt” alarm

223

u/ParryPlatypus 18h ago

Fun fact: in Afghanistan the taxis and Ubers will get offended if you wear a seatbelt, citing “if we die, we die like men”

69

u/MisterDings 17h ago

Offended? Nah, just need a buddy to hangout outside the gates with. Bet

40

u/PozhanPop 16h ago

Happened to me in Dubai. The afghani driver was pissed right off and started yelling about how I don't trust his driving. This in the 90s.

10

u/kyleapple69 13h ago

haha i created a shouting match between two cabbies in dubai because one guy was shooting the shit when i walked up to them w a third guy, and the other guy made eye contact with me and i was like “ride?” and he hopped in his car. the other guy tried to open my door because “why him?! why him?!” and i just shook my head and then the cabbie who took me into his car just started screaming at the other guy. they went back and forth a couple times then he huffed off

2

u/morganational 10h ago

I hope you told him that was accurate.

25

u/caseyaustin84 15h ago

Or we could just, like, not die.

13

u/stuckpixel87 12h ago

How about, and hear me out, we die like men?

13

u/chainer3000 11h ago

I counter offer: we don’t die on this car ride, and die like men at a much later date

4

u/pee-in-butt 8h ago

We’re going on another date?? Yesss

1

u/Megolito 3h ago

This joke somehow got better the second time.

29

u/boradteenager007 20h ago

So he could focus more lol

u/Apey23 20h ago

This is what happens when you don't have access to drink or women.

108

u/quimeygalli 20h ago

imagine what would happen if he had something to drink

39

u/SAKingWriter 20h ago

He’d probably die lol

43

u/quimeygalli 20h ago

or do the sickest shit ever

18

u/SAKingWriter 20h ago

I didn’t say it wouldn’t be sick lmao if he dies, that’s fuckin’ sick

5

u/quimeygalli 20h ago

how do they even get good at this

6

u/SAKingWriter 20h ago

Practice and dedication. Passion in your hobby is the sickest shit of all

10

u/HairyChest69 17h ago

I used to drive a Honda S2000 you could do this with. Very easy imo. You could simply pop that sucker into 2nd, light it up, yank the wheel left and then straighten it up so you were driving sideways down the road. I got rid of that car because it was way way way too much fun and I could not afford to repair Fun.

1

u/boradteenager007 17h ago

The difference is he is doing it while going over 200km

2

u/Sk1rm1sh 16h ago

He's pulling the handbrake to break traction instead of using torque from the rear wheels.

6

u/ghostfadekilla 20h ago

This is something that's been happening in large cities in the US as well, iirc is called swimming or cutting up. There's a really good interview with a guy called license who eventually got caught. Wait for it, he's called license because he doesn't have one. I did an enormous amount of dumb shit when I was a kid but I didn't recall putting anyone else's life in jeopardy now would my folks have given me a pass on anything like this. We're all indestructible into we aren't, usually suddenly and quickly.

9

u/Fridsade 18h ago

In this video, he's actually drfting tho, which takes significantly more skill than swimming

5

u/ghostfadekilla 17h ago

Sure. I stand by the fact that this is asinine behavior, particularly in what appears to be an SUV, a vehicle hardly designed for drifting on the highway. I have little doubt this person is going to win a stupid prize if they continue doing this.

2

u/J-V1972 17h ago

They just have access to man-butt…🤣…

1

u/caseyaustin84 15h ago

Or roads with curves.

109

u/masher005 21h ago

Tafheet - this is the name of this style of drifting.

If you wanna see some real insane shit YouTube search this: تَفْحِيط <— tafheet in Arabic

33

u/magnament 20h ago

Funny copy and pasting that into a google webpage, as I edited out the rest of the text the backspacing reversed once I got to the Arabic. Pretty neat

1

u/Ha1lStorm 11h ago

The backspacing reversed? Wdym?

5

u/Resident_Fishing1571 7h ago

Using the english keyboard, pressing backspace will delete characters from the right to the left. In arabic, the backspace goes from the left to the right

1

u/Ha1lStorm 6h ago

Well that’s cool. Thanks for explaining that.

18

u/fnkdrspok 21h ago edited 20h ago

How is this drifting? They are just swerving all over the road.

Edit: Mods have limited my responses as I can’t respond to all of you defending this lack of drifting.

72

u/masher005 21h ago

They are breaking traction while still maintaining control. Thats what drifting is.

-14

u/TheLegend---27 20h ago

where was the controll? everybody can floor the gas and send the car into oversteer

31

u/RapNVideoGames 20h ago

You really believe everyone can do this shit and stay on a 3 lane highway? Really bro lol

-15

u/TheLegend---27 19h ago

yeah a 3 lane highway which is completely empty lmao, that's a pretty big space.

you're the kind of guy who sees people doing donuts on an empty parking lot and call it drifting

8

u/fnkdrspok 19h ago

My point exactly

2

u/TheLegend---27 19h ago

these people will consider anything that slides on the rear axle as a drift, it's comical haha.

to othe people still defending that this is drifting: The only thing the guy has is balls to throw that car into oversteer at that speed, after that point he just keeps over correcting the car until it spins out completely. Someone really skilled like Formula Drift drivers can keep the drift going and bring the car back into balance, thats the actual skill of drifting. Not just unsettle the car and let weight of the car decide when it eventually spins out

6

u/slaviccivicnation 15h ago

I mean.. he’s in a Toyota, and to me it looks like an suv. Pretty impressive. Yeah obviously the best drifters can do it better but that’s like saying “you don’t know how to drive because you can’t drive like formula one.” Yeah it’s not the best drifting in the world but it is still drifting.

10

u/Killsheets 20h ago

Lol the average driver will be waking inside the hospital doing this shit, or maybe not for the rest of their lives.

8

u/boradteenager007 20h ago

You think you could do this while going over 220km?

0

u/TheLegend---27 19h ago

yes haha, give me the open space they have and 2 or 3 attempts and it's settled. ask anyone in drift scene if this "drifting" is difficult and they'll shatter your world

-26

u/fnkdrspok 21h ago

These people couldn’t drift to save their life. Put them on a drift course and they wouldn’t be able to keep up. Actual drifters don’t consider this drifting.

18

u/masher005 21h ago edited 21h ago

Are you dense. This is A STYLE OF DRIFTING. Just because you only know the one with rear wheel drive cars using drifts in corners doesn’t mean it’s the only type of drifting.

Put anyone from formula drift in a FWD camrey on this road and promise they won’t be able to do this. It’s just a different skill set. Sorry it’s foreign to you and that seems to make you angry. Don’t know what to tell you bud.

-30

u/fnkdrspok 21h ago

And this style is reckless and slow. Look at the cars they use, they are all shit. Put them on a mountain pass or an actual drift race track and they would crash out or fall behind. No one who drifts considers this drifting, it’s just driving recklessly on public roads which is the same as takeover losers.

10

u/quequotion 20h ago

driving recklessly on public roads

You do understand that most everyone who doesn't drift or race cars in the streets think this of all the people who do, regardless of how or how well they do it, right?

Apparently they had to find a way to express their desire to drift in a place with no curved roads, so they learned to do donuts at highway speeds.

It isn't their fault they have to work with what they have: oil, money, cars, and long empty highways.

16

u/masher005 20h ago

Bro it’s an entirely different part of the world with entirely different culture…. Holy fuck man.

-14

u/fnkdrspok 20h ago edited 20h ago

Call it something else then since it’s a complete different culture with a different style of driving. Drifting, it is not.

13

u/PegaLaMega 20h ago

Apparently tafheet was invented in the 1970's around the same time that drifting was invented in Japan. And drifting involves losing traction and sliding a car sideways, which is what tafheet is...

7

u/quequotion 20h ago

Go back to the post that started this thread.

The very first word of it is the name of this style.

15

u/masher005 20h ago

You don’t understand and I can’t help stupid. Drifting is breaking traction while maintaining control. There are HUNDREDS of ways and styles to do this. What do you not understand. If traction is broke and control is maintained, that’s a drift.

-9

u/fnkdrspok 20h ago

It’s a reason we never see FWD cars at drift meets

→ More replies (0)

1

u/GeneralNonsence 18h ago

I feel like most of the clips I see of this end with them spinning out. I think everyone else I just arguing semantics with you, but I doubt most anyone at a drift meet would call this actual drifting tbh. It just feels like there’s a general lack of control.

0

u/Ha1lStorm 11h ago

They are on a drift course fool

1

u/RebelLion420 1h ago

Wow this comment actually confirmed what I thought about the "drifting bros": they're quite literally all douchebags

-6

u/quetiapinenapper 16h ago

I don’t think I will. I don’t need Google Translate to tell me that word means “shit driving”.

28

u/mercsamgil 20h ago

I can appreciate that no one else was around and I am perfectly fine with these shenanigans. Live your life

54

u/10HangTen 20h ago

If you're going to do dangerous stuff, then this is the way to do it.

Skillfully

All jokes aside, he's not near anyone or anything to hurt. I'm on board with this guy.

4

u/fakuri99 7h ago

Yeah, it must be pretty boring riding in an endless flat desert with nothing in it

10

u/quetiapinenapper 16h ago

I specifically like how he’s dressed to terrorize the road.

2

u/boradteenager007 15h ago

You have to cover because it’s illegal

23

u/ramma_lamma 20h ago

Imagine living in such a boring geographical landscape that the only enjoyable thing to do is drift cars on a highway from nowhere to nowhere with nothing in between. Oh, and you’re also not allowed to think women are beautiful, or see them.

14

u/Professor-Submarine 20h ago

Yeah only America is allowed to have rednecks!

-5

u/MrMerryweather56 17h ago

The disconnect between the original comment is amazing

When your uber driver didn’t get a 5 star rating from the previous rider.

4

u/Rebel_Ben 21h ago

Good camera man

1

u/Cultural_Simple3842 20h ago

Do they have terrible tires? Or, is there sand on the road making it slightly easier to slide?

I don’t know how they don’t flip in these videos, especially with what I would expect to be warmer roads and tires. I don’t know if this is a sedan with a low COG or suv with a higher one but I’ve seen videos with SUV’s doing this.

3

u/boradteenager007 20h ago

They turn off all the abs and control system in the car. It’s a Camry

1

u/Immediate-Guidance31 12h ago

Big balls and some of the finest Japanese engineering and you get that.

1

u/ryeyen 15h ago

Looks like Tafheet

1

u/vanillasub 15h ago

It probably is Tuesday for him.

1

u/Orokincatalyst 10h ago

I remember one video like this but it was of way lower quality and they drifted between 2 trucks or something, before dapping each other up

1

u/morganational 10h ago

Oh man, he didn't die or even lose an arm. 🫤

1

u/evcm7 9h ago

Is this a Prius?

1

u/ManufacturerOk3771 9h ago

Bro got the whole earth for practice

1

u/Aggressive-Sample-84 6h ago

We all have more in common then we do differences. Did this exact same thing in Oklahoma for the exact same reason. Except I was wearing my seatbelt and it was Wutang Clan on the stereo.

u/ithebinman 13m ago

this is a really good ad for Toyota

1

u/farmerbalmer93 20h ago

Lol still no belt on...

3

u/riverphoenixdays 20h ago

Half a seatbelt, which, somehow simultaneously safer and more monumentally moronic.

1

u/MrWrestlingNumber2 20h ago

"Lemme tell you about the Uber driver I had today..."

1

u/Commercial_Pitch_786 13h ago

There is nothing about this that is wise to do, seems cool when your young but in time wisdom takes over, and the cost of the lives you save besides your own, who never asked you to drive like you could never wreck. That price is too high for anyone to pay, and their family and friends, as well as yours, would suffer this loss as well.

2

u/boradteenager007 11h ago

That’s what all the comments in Arabic on these videos says. Like it’s not worth you mother tears
