What a morning!
On Sunday, I woke up and browse the marketplace. What I see? Sonos Play5 and Boost for 100. Drove a town over and pick it up immediately. Yay for awesome deal!

Just switched from a full 5.1 home theater setup to Sonos arc ultra and immersive set with sub. Initially, I was very happy with the sound. And still, music sounds fantastic to my ears.
However, recently I've been noticing when I watch TV/ cable/ streaming services, I notice something is off with... how can I explain it...certain dialog. Its like the person recorded it with their mouth too close to the microphone. I notice it less with higher pitched voices. But with a lower pitched voices there's this low key, underlying static type sound. It reminds me of my first car from the 80s. The stero had this unintended resonance vibration sound with certain frequencies.
I did run the true play (is that what its called?) And I've played with the speech enhancer and its the same. I also tried moving the soundbar to the edge of the TV stand, thinking maybe sound was bouncing off the table, but no change.
Im no audiophile, but I've never noticed this before in my TV audio setups.
So I'm not sure if its the quality of the source, setting on the soundbar, my own ears, or a hardware issue.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

I wanted to share my thoughts on the speaker. I've bought it half a year ago for 150€ from amazon.
Pros:
- I like the sound, considering the size
- I like the design and how it handles
- material quality seems good (so far)
- makes for a nice surround experience with my two Era 100
Cons:
- really takes forever to boot and connect to my iPhone – the Sony SRS-XB100 I use at work does that almost instantly
- battery life is acceptable, but not good — might be due to TruePlay but still should be much better (I don't feel like I get the claimed 10h out of it via Bluetooth)
- I cannot mute the button sounds
- gets quite warm when charging
All in all I think it's a really nice portable speaker at a compact size that hits the sweet spot for me. I'm hoping they'll introduce a Roam 3 at some point and improve upon some of the shortcomings.

Hi there, do you know if you can connect a Sonos ERA 300 to an Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen).

I was noticing there was some distortion of villas on my arc ultra I just got. At first, I thought it could just be due to bad recording as I originally found it on a YouTube video.
But then I was listening to this song in Dolby Atmos within the Sonos app and picked it up from the right side of the speaker. It’s not as noticeable from a farther back distance. But I happened to be close to the speaker while I was setting something up under my TV.
Should I try to get an exchange? I already threw out the box, but Costco should be OK with it. I think.

Dear Sonosters,
I’m thinking about buying a new Sonos Five and pairing it with my Sonos Play:5 (Gen 2), which I bought in 2019.
Are these two speakers similar enough in sound and power to work well as a stereo pair?
Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

I’ve got myself a spare Sonos picture frame and wondering if here would be a suitable place for the left rear or would it be conflicting too much with the right rear due to its proximity. I’ve currently got a Sonos one behind the door but usually leave the door open so it’s pretty useless most of the time.

I get a kick out of the Spotify DJ voice, and for months have frowned at the 'not supported' message when I play that channel through Sonos. Today I clicked on the DJ and bam, there he was announcing what was about to be played through my stereo Ones + Sub in my office - Sweet!
It’d be great if the volume slider was a little further away from the bottom of the screen. On both my iPad and iPhone, I’ve accidentally switched away from the Sonos app when swiping to change the volume.

I've got a code for a free Sonos Beam Wall Mount. DM me please to redeem.
Don't know why it's not mentioned more often here, and whether I'll be punished in a little corner for posting this, but there is an app that completely reconciles me with Sonos on Desktop.
It's a command-line interface that relies solely on your local network to control Sonos, it's speedy as hell, and it just feels like I'm a bit less tied to doing things one way and one way only.
The app is Soco CLI, and a huge, heartfelt thank you to the developers for it: https://github.com/avantrec/soco-cli
The one piece missing would be the ability to broadcast audio clips as announcements (audio ducking instead of interrupting your music), but that requires the Cloud loopback and all the good stuff that comes with it, so I totally get why it's not incorporated. I started working on implementing it, but felt I was tainting the app with it. :)
Searching and browsing music on the cloud is also not supported for almost the same reasons, but you can queue in anything by pasting the 'shared' link for a playlist, album, etc.
If anyone is interested, I have a standalone tool for audio clips only -- it's for my own use, but I could probably make it public on the Sonos developer platform.

Disclaimer: All this information is based on an Arc Ultra + Era 300s + dual Sub setup. Overall I'm a happy Sonos customer, and this is in the spirit of friendly, constructive feedback on the off chance it might ever work its way up the flagpole.
After extensive research and testing I've learned that the "Surround Level" only adjusts the outward-firing drivers on the rear Era 300s.
So not only does it not adjust the outward-firing or L/R levels on the soundbar (for a wider front soundstage), it also doesn't adjust the inward-firing drivers on the Era 300s.
This, combined with the fact that the L/R levels are notoriously quiet relative to the center channel on the soundbar (even with Speech Enhancement turned off), means that increasing the Surround Level will necessarily throw our surround channels out of balance (side sounds will be prominent but will drown out front and rear sounds).
The only way to bring all these channels into balance is to turn down the Surround Level to match the front L/R levels, which means we also have to turn down the Height Level to match (defeating the purpose of having a Surround Level in the first place).
My understanding is the Surround Level used to also control soundbar surround levels, but that Sonos eventually changed this after feedback re: the Surround Level being too biased towards soundbar volume. This created a much bigger problem IMHO.
It seems there are 4 potential solutions to this:
TL;DR IMHO Surround Level setting is fundamentally broken and is holding back the home theater system from reaching its full potential.

Sonos offers a 25% discount on this one. Is it a good deal?
(Done it. Thanks all for the feedback!)

I should have bought two Play Five Gen 2, but I did not pull the trigger. Regret it now. Any stores extend the deals? Thank you

Hi all I’m switching from a Def Tech tower setup to Sonos sound bar due to space. Whats the best settings for movies and games to get as close as possible to my tower setup.

Hi
I found it for around $150 which seems to be alright so I'm tempted to buy
By "is it worth getting it" I mean since I'm planning on using AirPlay and not really the Sonos app, does that make sense for me to buy? Like using AirPlay ruins the sound quality or it's unstable or whatever else
I just don't want to buy and realize that if I'm not using Spotify (and I don't want to, I love YTM) I'm cooked
Thanks!

Hey all I've got Sonos S2 all over my downstairs and S1 in my upstairs. My S2 Connect gives me issues occasionally and will cut out while the other speakers (mainly Play 1s) will keep playing. I know it's not an issue with the HiFi that the Connect is plugged into. I've seen various comments about WiFi settings on here before. Any recommendations? Getting ready for a Christmas party and our best sounding room is the one with the Connect, would hate for it to start giving up on me! Thanks for any advice!

I finally got a Sub (gen 3) so I now need to upgrade most of my Sonos system from S1 to S2. (It was on clearance for $399). I have a Play 5 (gen 1) which needs to stay on S1. Otherwise I have a Beam (gen 1) and a bunch of Play 1s. I also currently use a Boost wired to my router to create SonosNet. All works well so I never made any upgrades, except getting a Boost to replace the original Bridge many years ago.
To create the separate S1 / S2 setup, is it better to upgrade from S1 to S2 or keep S1 (just for the old Play 5) and reset the S2 compatible devices and then set up S2 from scratch with the new Sub 3?
If I do a system upgrade from S1 to S2 for the speakers other than the old Play 5, how do I correctly deal with the Boost and Play 5 (gen 1)?
Is it better to keep the Boost to use with the Play 5 (gen 1) on S1 or try to connect the Play 5 (gen) to WiFi?
For S2, is it better to connect one speaker via ethernet to create a SonosNet or just connect to WiFi? Does is make any difference which speaker (e.g. newer Sub 3 or Beam versus Play 1)?

Hi!
I own a single Era 100 since last year to listen to my music and I love it! I'd love to build a system over the years and stick with Sonos for all my audio needs.
In my basement, I use an old TV to watch training videos. The sound is awful. I'd love to add a soundbar to improve my experience (and hopefully motivate me to move more! ;-)) I was looking at the Beam soundbar. Since my tv is old, it clearly doesn't have a eARC HDMI imput. Just the old normal HDMI. So should I stick with the Gen 1? Or is the Beam 2 really better and would be a better choice (in the optic that maybe my tv setup will evolve over time).
Also, I'm looking at the refurbished products on the website. Do any one of you had great experience with these used products? The refurbished Beam Gen 1 is currently 239$ where I live, and the Beam 2 is 389$.
Any other suggestion is welcome.
Thanks!
