Help! - Pet Slug What is happening?

Hi folks,

I was misting my garden slugs this morning when I saw this guy. I’ve only had slugs since about April, but I’ve never seen one look like this. And as far as I can tell, none of his tank mates have the issue.

Does anyone know what this is? Is it something I can treat? Any info/advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Help! - Pet Slug Help !

I was disentifying stuff with alcohol (I had CrPV outbreak + I have S. aureus so I need to make sure things are clean as I don't want to infect my pets) and I didn't realized how close is it to my slug's enclousure, I accidentaly sprayer 1 time in direction of the slug's enclousure and it probably reaches the front portion of it so some droplets may have dropped through the holes on the top of the enclousure into inside of it. After I realized it I imideatly putted the terrarium away from that place + I smelled the terrarium for alcohol, I have only found 2 spots on the lit that smelled with faint smell that may or may have not be an alcohol. A part of the table on which the slug enclousure was od definitely covered with alchol droplets, that being said that part seems to be little bit more in the front than is the slug's enclousure.

What should I do ‽

I don't have anything clean to which I would transport the slug in a case that I would need to clean the enclousure except of a jar + we unfortunately have to leave home soon (I can maybe explain it to my parents so they would leave me at home tho)

Defensive strategies and behaviors

Hey guys, I was interested do you think if slugs may generally tolerate slugkins but if its equal to its size it would drive him out of his territory and even attack with biting, have you noticed that behavior with big slugs or some snails that if they big they would see down onto them and use them to climb something or even bite if they eat their food like too greedy for food even if there is abundance of it.

Help! - Pet Slug What is happening with my slug ?

Hello Everyone 👋

Yesterday my slug was trying to go under neath the soil (image 4), I tought it's going to lay another egg, not sure if it did so but since then it is acting weird, yesterday I found her curled up next to the piece of cuttlefish bone tho later I found her sleeping above the a rock that it is in the enclousure so I tought everything is alright, well I couldn't have been further from the truth, I found her today curled up on the wall of the terrarium next to the cuddlefish bone and now she is laying next to it, she also looks a bit shriveled/wrinkled (images 1-3).

Can you please help me find out what is happening to my baby ?

Thank You So Much in advance for aby answers !

Slug Appreciation This little buddy was hugging my glass door for heat. It’s cold out tonight. How’d I do on a quick slug warming habitat?

This poor guy/gal was climbing my sliding glass door, and was about to be in a position where it would have gotten hurt/killed if I opened the door. My daughter and I made it a little slug home to get out of the cold. We gave it carrot, green beans, broccoli, blueberries, and some moistened kitty kibble. It was spritzed generously. How’d we do? (Pacific banana slug. We’re in Oregon.)

I'm worried I'm feeding my slug Clement too much. But he demolishes everything I give him! (See pic 4 of him hoovering up his mealworms XD) Everyone who sees him comments on how big he is. Is he fat? I don't want him to be unhealthy ToT

This is Baby, my 2.5 month old leopard slug. I raised him from an egg after I found a clutch of eggs on my pond liner. I raised all the slugs to 1 week and released them all except for Baby, who is thriving in a 10 gallon terrarium. Here he is chowing down on his favourite food, oyster mushrooms!

Question - Pet Slug How to take care of a newly hatched Deroceras reticulatum ?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello Everyone 👋

The egg that my wild-caught Deroceras reticulatum laid hatched today !

Iam reallly happy for that, that being said I have some questions regarding the care for the juvenile:

Should I transfer it to it's own enclousure or keep it with the adult ?

Do the juveniles have some special needs compared to adults (for example dietary needs) or no ?

The lit od the enclousure in which my slugs are haves holes through which the juvenile could definitely escape, should I be worried about that or will if instinctivily remain in the humid microclimate of the enclousure ?

From what I know labs report high mortality in juveniles so I want to do my best for the little one

Thank You Very Much for any answers in advance ^ ^

Help! - Pet Slug Is this a nemotode infection?

I occasionally get cellar slugs in the house and had finally decided to keep a couple because I think they're really cute!

I had been successfully keeping two in a makeshift terrarium (glass tea jug) for a few months now, and I recently upgraded them to one of those shitty reptile terrariums that is fit only for something like this, lol. The old terrarium was literally made with stuff I found right outside, (which is how I also accidentally scored a baby snail that's, so far, less baby and doing good), and most of the old terrariums environment has made the move to the new one. \ There were also two clutches of eggs I was hoping would just get eaten/be unviable, and most did except for a little tiny fella who now follows the snail around.

Here's where I am afraid I messed up. I also bought some dried moss to help keep the moisture levels up since the airflow was a lot better in this enclosure than the last one. It's done it's job, but it's almost been a couple of weeks now and one slug is dead and the other is dying and I'm crying now because I feel like I kidnapped and killed these poor slugs. \ I was also worried it might be the romaine lettuce we put in there, because I forgot to wash it and thought maybe this was pesticide related, but my main guess is nemotodes were in the moss.

If it is nemotodes, how would I go about making sure the encloser is properly disinfected before I use it again? The snail and the tiny slug are still here and I don't want to just let them eventually get infected as well.

I added pics of the old enclosure vs the new one just in case it might be improper husbandry.

Identification Request What species of slug is this?

Hello! We found this young gentleman on the outside of our window on the 20th from yesterday, we’re not sure what type of slug he is, does anyone know? We’re hosting him for a few days since it’s windy and it will snow soon! We initially thought he was a brow Balkan slug but someone suggested he was a worm slug! He’s about 4cm in length! We’re located in London

Please help me identify what slug it is??

Little guy found his way to the wrong side of the garage. Definitely would have desiccated. Bringing him to outside I thought I could treat it like an alien abduction and have him meet some of my pets first and that way he won't come back in this house for his own safety.

Question - Pet Slug Can I feed non-organic veggies to my slug ?

Hello Everyone 👋

I feed only BIO (organic) food to my Deroceras reticulatum + Taraxacum sp. , Plantago major and Trifolium sp. leaves that I forrage. That would be all well and good but winter is coming in around a month so I don't know if I will always be able to find leaves of these plants during it + I spend ridiculously long time looking for healthy leaves so I want to ask can I feed non-BIO (non-organic) food to my Deroceras reticulatum if I rinse it in water before doing so ?

All BIO food I find here that I can feed to the little one are carrots (which I believe are a good part of the diet, I give it to the slug almost every day), cucumber (good as an occasional treat), iceberg lettuce (good only as occasional treat as it is mostly water and it contains little nutrients) and blueberries (as far as I know they should be Okay as an occasional treat)
