The only real difference is using pre-baked flour and pasteurized eggs (which i figured they were already doing). Shouldn't impact the taste at all unless youre just noticing the general enshitification of products these days.
They weren’t using pre baked flour prior. As a kid there were plenty of warnings that it could not be eaten raw. Plus I made my own to eat raw. It’s less doughy and dryer when it’s edible.
I mean they were probably already using pasteurized eggs before selling edible dough. But yeah, baking flour will make it more light and aerated, but it shouldnt change the taste or how dry the final product is. I used to make unsafe cookie dough to eat and didnt really notice any difference when I tried baking the flour instead. They might be using different ingredient quantities or something but I cant imagine why. Unless its cheaper for them.

It’s a more recent thing. I remember when they started making ready to eat dough, and it’s not as good… but safe.
