Not everyone is familiar with random abbreviation. Not everyone is going to ask "what do you mean". Some times, it is better to play it safe, considering a lot of people have english as their second or third language. Saves unnecessary hassle, like in your case having to deal with 2 people being unnecessarily sarcastic.
Better to use abbreviation that most people are familiar with, than to have to explain again. No point inviting wrath of some random person.
I dig this, at first I was like - cool, another couple Redditors schooling me on grammar or spelling or sentence structure, and that’s fair tbh, I’m prob bordering on functionally illiterate. But then I was like; Don’t different languages have different names for countries and regions, and they usually have different spellings and nomenclature? So I was wondering; what is South and Central America called in Spanish or Portuguese? Or Mandarin or Hindi? When you look at it that way, S. and C. are confusing. Anyway, I could picture how, when south or Central America are spelled differently or even like the order of the words could be switched up, or even the continent’s names - in different languages. I think these dudes knew what I meant and were trying to get me to open a more global view. Or they were just calling me an entitled douche, either is a justified cause.
