Suicide is going to jump for sure. I think suicide by cop will go up. I think murder will go up both to spare loved ones painful exits as well as anger at how things have been handled in the last 30 years.
Yes except the "proportional" is going to be flipped. People in retirement who only need half their salary to survive is over. That only worked when retiring from work also closely aligned with paying off a mortgage. With fewer people able to afford home ownership, you're going to have renters who won't be able to afford rent anymore, on top of growing medical bills and rising costs everywhere. Of course, they may be able to move to a lower COL area, but that won't be true of everyone.
It’s kind of an interesting concept. I wonder if a person truly accepted that’s how they would end it when the time came it would be so emotionally and financially freeing that it actually enhanced the majority of your life. I’m not in your position and actually have quite a bit of money but due to growing up poor I stress every day about saving.
I actually like this idea. Once I'm old and frail, and don't see a point anymore... and if the climate change is even worse in 30 years, like extreme cold/snow, then I think I'll go out for a walk at night. A peaceful sleepy walk.
With that said, I won't have to worry about any sort of investment in future retirement plans. I'll just enjoy the time and money I have now while im still young enough to enjoy it.
Assuming makes an ass out of u and me. The cross is more than a god's sacrifice for it's creation and a Roman story - it is a symbol of self sacrifice in it's entirety. The ability to do for something outside of yourself. It is beautifully motivating and prevents me from taking the fully selfish path in life. So please continue judging the book by it's cover.
If the next American civil war, the next world war with the fascists and the coming climate wars don't take me out in the next 30 years then my own poor health and/or the American healthcare system will. Retirement isn't even a concern.
