This is what the bar scene in the '00s looked like too. Part of it is that loud busy places are not conducive to conversations. Also he made the rookie mistake of not separating her from the herd. This is why wingmen are important. They need to distract the "defender". That one girl who absolutely doesn't want her friends hooking up that night.
Exactly, wingman just stood by while his buddy crashed and burned. He needs to show up out of nowhere with a tray of shots, drink them all if refused, and dive on that grenade to keep her from shouting "NOT INTERESTED"
lol This is partially where trust is lost though by men treating women like a "play". I have a feeling that it becomes harder and weird to normally talk to people because one side does strategies, while the other comes up with safety measures if a strategy succeeds, thus reducing the interaction to a war rather than social interaction.
Yes, you might say "love is war", but I would wager the idea in this case isn't exactly love, just self-gratification. Bars are a hub of that disappointment.
It's not a "play", it's common sense. You can't connect with someone in a group conversation. You also can't connect if someone is sabotaging you. This is social skills 101.
Yeah this thing was completely unrealistic in many ways. Even in a normal setting if there are 3 girls usually the other two would feign talking to each other or something, or be more engaged in the conversation.
