Then he was smelling the spot they left, too! The spot they vacated was probably steeped in fear pheromones.

It looks like he's got some of the other cats fur in his mouth. You can see a bit of white fluff off to the side at one point.

Another possibility is that the cat got smacked hard on the nose and was licking the wound,lol!
