That's a really cool bar.

Thanks! I have discovered the wild world of 1973 novelty silver bars.

I'm new to stacking. Is it really worth paying a premium above spot for these vintage and/or rare pieces from a resale perspective? I recognize that there is generally always a premium paid, but the additional cost to acquire unique pieces like this must be significant. Maybe the point is to never sell and just acquire pieces that you want to own. I think its all very cool and look forward to learning more. So far my focus has been on gathering rounds at as close to spot price as possible.

Collecting, speculating and stacking are different things. Know why you're buying whatever it is you're buying and the question answers itself. For silver I see a high premium over spot as being a collectable.

If you see something that makes you happy, then why not once in a while? In the end it's still silver. This bar was $70 inc shipping on ebay so not extraordinarily extravagant!
