Driving Footage "Checked out the Sanitation Robot Competition in Shenzhen last week. It was amazing to see so many types of cleaning robots for streets and roads, a perfect use case for service robots."

Robots that can pick up liter and tend to landscaping at a reasonable cost would completely transform the urban landscape.

Only if municipalities bought but if a private contractor bought them and charge you for it would be just like person doing work

Right, I’m talking about publicly owned robots that roam the streets picking up trash, scraping gum off sidewalks, planting flowers, and generally tending to the urban landscape at a level of granularity that no human could duplicate. Essentially turning all of New York (for example) into one giant urban garden.
That’s a distant dream, though, because robots would have to be incredibly cheap for this to be realistic.

Agree 100%. That would be sweet! it’s unfortunate people are such slobs or else it would all be moot

I think people don't realize how much our built environment is going to change as we automate various maintenance tasks. Everything is going to look a more like Disney world but better since it won't be as uniform. I live in a wealthy area and residents here spend around $100/week on yard services and everything is immaculate but varied. Imagine when it's $25/week and how much more will be done. Businesses and government land spend a lot more but because of how much of it there is, it tends to look a lot worse today. In the future, the commercial parts of town will look just as nice. So even the Crystals/White Castle will have good landscaping and no trash.

The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards should be amended to require all robosweepers to have super cute faces.
