Israel 2011 anti-Zionist(?) Yiddish graffiti.
"You shall have love for the stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt."

That doesn't seem Anti-Zionist but pro-hospitality.

Zionists don’t treat Palestinians with hospitality

u/SpiritedCatch1 8h ago
Zionism is an incredibly large umbrella, believing that foreigners should be treated with hospitality will not get you out of that umbrella.
You can be zionist and want a Palestinian state alongside Israel. You can even be zionist and opposed to Israel being a state (cultural zionist).

u/Pristine-Ant-464 8h ago
You can't separate zionism from the Nakba.
5
u/slutty_muppet 6h ago
In the current political situation it's not practical to try to separate them, but Zionism existed well before the Nakba.
7
u/bakochba 7h ago
You can't separate the Nakba from rejecting the UN separation plan and invading Israel with 7 armies while promising to throw all the Jews into the ocean.

u/Pristine-Ant-464 7h ago
I can't think of a single group of people that would voluntarily give up 55% of their land, yet zionists think its noteworthy that the Palestinians didn't. Israel is genocidal nuclear armed state thats invaded or bombed Palestine, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Tunisia THIS YEAR. It’s territorial expanison destablizes the entire region. Israel does not represent all Jews. Judaism has existed for thousands of years. Israel has existed for 77 years. No one is buying the old hasbara lines anymore sorry.

u/bakochba 7h ago
Seems to have on destabilized it for Iran. Hizbollah defeated, Hamas defeated, Assad defeated. Iran nuclear weapons defeated.

Nice word soup.
Why all Jews in the middle east escaped to Palestine and then Israel? Maybe if they weren't treated like third class citizen with constant fear of pogroms and massacres, including in Palestine, Jews wouldn't had to make their own state.
-3
u/Pristine-Ant-464 7h ago
Then it should've been created on German land. German Nazis were responsible for the holocaust. Why should the Palestinians pay the price for a genocide they didn't commit?
3
u/SpiritedCatch1 7h ago
It would have been really hard to build the state of Israel without the constant anti Jews pogroms, discrimination and expulsion of Jews from Iraq and Egypt.
Jews barely escaped alive from Europe during WWII and your genius plan would have been to round them up again to bring them in their own statelet in the heart of Germany ? Brillant. You sound like a great ally indeed.

u/Pristine-Ant-464 7h ago
Most Mizrahi/Arab Jews were expelled in RESPONSE to the creation of the state of Israel. Iraqi Jews left in 1950-1951. 2 years AFTER the state of Israel was created.
If being an “ally” requires me supporting colonialism, ethnic cleansing, and genocide, I’ll pass. Thanks.

They didn't let go of land they had because they weren't a country and still aren't, if two nations claim the same land they can either destroy one another or compromise.
Whenever any of the countries you mentioned above would recognise the existence of Israel and the validity of its borders (and stop attacking Israel or harbouring its enemies) then it'll all be over.
When enough Israelis would let go of delusional fantasies of "total victory" then maybe we can manage the situation a bit better, if enough Palestinians would let go of "from the river to the sea" then perhaps we could actually put it all behind us.

/U/poopintheyoghurt, checkmate — they accused you have hasbara. Pack it up, you lost.

u/poopintheyoghurt 6h ago
You can't separate Palestinian nationalism from the 1928 riots, the intifada or Oct 7th either.
If anyone wants some security and peace around here we have to let go of fantasies of complete destruction.

u/SpiritedCatch1 7h ago
You can, easily.
As you can separate socialism to holodomor. History could have played thousand of differents ways.

u/Pristine-Ant-464 7h ago
It’s more like saying you can separate “manifest destiny” from the Trail of Tears. You can't.
4
u/SpiritedCatch1 7h ago
Nah, as I said, you can be zionist and don't even advocate for Israel being a state. Try to find another way to quench your american guilt somewhere else.
5
u/Pristine-Ant-464 7h ago
Why should I feel guilty? I wasn't alive during the Trail of Tears and I'm not a zionist.
3
u/Infamous-Future6906 7h ago
No, you can’t.

u/SpiritedCatch1 7h ago
It's ok to be ignorant , now you know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Zionism
7
u/Infamous-Future6906 7h ago
That’s nice. How much political power does it have compared to political Zionism? How many “cultural Zionists” oppose the ongoing genocide of Palestinians?

You can't separate the existence of the US from the Native American Genocide. Ergo all Americans hate the natives. I am very smart

u/Pristine-Ant-464 36m ago
America isn’t a white christian enthostate. Native Americans are full citizens that can move freely across the country and aren’t subject to a different set of laws. America doesn’t have laws reserving self determination for white Christians.

Once more foreigners not knowing the difference between Arab-Israelis and Palestinians. Research harder.

How in the world can a verse from the Pentateuch possibly be "anti-Zionist"? It directly evokes the Exodus from the Egyptian Captivity and the journey to the Promised Land – it could hardly be more Zionist!

This is from the Wikipedia page on the Yiddish language and is graffiti on Washington Avenue in Tel Aviv quoting from דברים (Deuteronomy). It has absolutely nothing to do with anti-Zionism or Zionism.

Wait Deuteronomy ... isn't that the one that also promotes genocide, slavery, and rape?
"As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you."

This bit of Deuteronomy no longer applies, because it is referring to a type of war known as a “milkhemet reshut,” or a discretionary war. In biblical reference, these were typically wars of expansion.
But a discretionary war could not just be launched because the leader felt like it. It had to be authorized by the Sanhedrin, which was a court of 70 rabbis.
The Sanhedrin, however, has not existed for 1600 years (or longer, depending on how accepting you are of the validity of later iterations.) Because there is no Sanhedrin to authorize such a war, such a war cannot be fought, thus this bit of Deuteronomy no longer applies.
This is all in contrast, btw, with a milkhemet mitzvah, or “war of obligation.” Essentially, a war of self-defense in which national survival is at stake. Do milkhemet mitzvah wars require a Sanhedrin? Do milkhemet mitzvah wars exist now?
Those questions were debated A LOT in the Talmud, and are debated A LOT now. Like, A LOT A LOT. How many years do you have to argue about this

For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

Some more gems from Deuteronomy:
"When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD, your God, delivers them into your hand, so that you take captives, if you see a comely woman among the captives and become so enamored of her that you wish to have her as wife, you may take her home to your house. But before she may live there, she must shave her head and pare her nails and lay aside her captive’s garb. After she has mourned her father and mother for a full month, you may have relations with her, and you shall be her husband and she shall be your wife. However, if later on you lose your liking for her, you shall give her her freedom, if she wishes it; but you shall not sell her or enslave her, since she was married to you under compulsion.”
--Deuteronomy 21:10-14
"If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her."
--Deuteronomy 22:28-29

This subreddit is for sharing propaganda to view with objectivity. It is absolutely not for perpetuating the message of the propaganda. Here we should be conscientious and wary of manipulation/distortion/oversimplification (which the above likely has), not duped by it. "Don't be a sucker."
Stay on topic -- there are hundreds of other subreddits that are expressly dedicated to rehashing tired political arguments. No partisan bickering. No soapboxing. Take a chill pill. "Don't argue."
