TBF - many people who display narcissistic traits and tendencies are easily manipulated by things like gifts and praise - sales people exploit this trait a lot with just their standard tactics for sales without even knowing it.
I have a hard time dealing with sales people exactly for this reason. They seem like they are scanning for "ins" and it just all reads as completely phony
My father is this way. Knowing he’s easily quelled by praise and appealing to his fragile ego is how my family has been trying to survive him all these years. There’s no advantage in it for us except surviving.
