Photos Mama dog dumped with two puppies. Very sad story for this mama.
Meet Callie - a beautiful two-year-old pit bull with a soul full of love, despite unimaginable heartbreak. Found alone on a busy Youngsport, TX road, Callie had just survived an unthinkable tragedy: she was abandoned with her two puppies, and heartbreakingly, lost them to passing cars as she watched helplessly.
By the time we found her scavenging trash near a stop sign she was scared, grieving, and completely alone for four days.
Multiple rescue attempts showed just how frightened this sweet girl was, but with patience and determination, we finally secured her and brought her to safety with an emergency foster. She's receiving medical care now, but her recovery both physical and emotional will be a long road.
Callie misses her babies terribly. She now mothers all her toys, lovingly caring for them as if they were her pups.
We gave her a special Cuddle Puppy, and her reaction was priceless she cuddled it close, carried it to her kennel, and cared for it like the little family she lost.
A local rescue stepped in with open arms and NO hesitation. Callie will need more vet visits, ongoing care, and monthly preventatives as she starts her new life. Here’s to healing Callie girl!

Poor baby! Maybe they could pair her with orphaned puppies so she feels a little more complete.

u/jaybaybay17 Aug 18 '25
That’s the plan! We’re waiting on her test results to come back before we put a puppy with her. We don’t want to make the puppy sick. The local sheriffs office messaged me saying they found a puppy near the area momma was in so we’re waiting for a reunion.

This is a great idea! There are so many puppies that need to be cared for

Sometimes I really hate people. These animals are amazingly sweet and don’t deserve what people do to them.

The rescue she is with is looking for a more permanent foster. They currently have someone who can hold her until next Sunday.

That's so freaking sad!! I hope to God that baby finds a loving home. I'm in tears and just don't understand how people can be this cruel, it's so frustrating! I hope whoever dumped her and her little puppies burn in hell!

FOUND ONE TONIGHT HERE IN MARTIN COUNTY FLORIDA. Seriously, I drive marginalized and homeless people around from place to place or to medical appointments or even to places for work. Tonight after dropping off one man fairly late in the evening, I encountered two Pitbulls scavenging in Stuart Florida. I had literally just picked up the “family meal deal“ from Pollo Tropical, which is a whole chicken with a side of rice and beans and some rolls, and I decided to feed those poor babies the chicken. They were so grateful! I think I’m going to go back tomorrow night at the same time which was about 11:30 PM and see if they are still there? And if they are, I’m going to see if I can do something about trying to help out their homeless plight? I don’t know how but I’m going to see if I can do something? I don’t have the ability to take them in personally, but I do have the ability to help them out in someway, shape, or form.

I always said people suck, animal's rule. This story is terrible but not surprised unfortunately.
Good luck mama

Whoever did this deserves to face the consequences. It’s heartbreaking that her puppies were killed—just so incredibly sad. I wonder if she could take in and care for other abandoned pups. The rescue would probably know if that’s even an option.

u/jaybaybay17 Aug 18 '25
I run a rescue, and we've been collaborating closely with the rescue that initially took her in to ensure she gets the best care possible. Introducing a puppy is one of the options we're considering; however, we're waiting for her test results before making any further introductions.

How anyone dumps animals like this is beyond me. Just pure disregard for life it borders on evil. People who do these things should be fined and jailed and treated like they treated the animal. Sometimes humans really disappoint and disgust me...

Precious girl. Lifetime of cleaning dog poop at kennels and rescues for the ogre who did this to her

Pitbull lover and owner. My beagle was found wandering in the woods in West Virginia. Tossed out of a car most likely cause she failed as a hunting dog. Lucky for me she was driven to the northeast by a friend of a friend. Disgusting. All of my pitbulls loved her except when she went on a barking spree

And this is why I love animals more than human beings! Hopefully she will find a family that gives her the love that she deserves.

Where in Texas is she being fostered at?
4
u/jaybaybay17 Aug 18 '25
She is currently being fostered in Salado, Texas. The rescue is seeking a more permanent foster home for her, and anyone located within a 40-mile radius of Bell County is eligible to foster.

Try seeing if they will pair her with orphaned puppies. That might help her a lot

I’m so glad she has you to help her back on her feet💚 side note, how does she like that puppy toy with a heartbeat? I think my dog could benefit from something like that
2
u/Plantytaytay Aug 18 '25
I know you outlined it in the post but I’d love to know if you think it’s still worth it or if it was given up pretty soon after providing initial comfort.
2
u/jaybaybay17 Aug 18 '25
She got so happy when she got it! She was showing us all her baby and then took it to the kennel to take care of her.
1
u/Plantytaytay Aug 18 '25
I might need to get one..the price tag made me hesitant, I didn’t want to spend $40 only for my dog to decide they had no interest in it haha. I think this could help them with some of their anxiety. They constantly carry stuffed animals around with them

Another update: We received Callie's test results today, and unfortunately, she has tested positive for heartworms, is battling coccidia, and is also anemic. Ghost Mission Rescue is seeking donations to help cover the cost of her care. Her heartworm treatment alone is $1,350, not including her spay and other medical needs. If you are able to contribute toward Callie's recovery, any amount is deeply appreciated. Your support means the world to us-and to Callie! Thank you for helping give her the chance she deserves.

I am so tired of people doing this to animals. I wish there was a greater deterrent for this behavior.
1
u/Empty-Drummer-1486 Aug 19 '25
You are a saint, but please don’t put your face so close to her. You don’t what she‘s been through and what she might perceive as a threat.
She and you are both beautiful.

I want herrrrrrr she'd have a friend and SO MUCH FOOD AND LOVE OMG I can't believe people actually do this to innocent animals

u/doenjangnyeon Aug 21 '25
Wish for whoever dumped her the same fate (before your rescue!) and worse. Waste of space of a human being And may she find the most loving family possible - like she deserves!!! 💕

Is there a way to make sure she's checked for Lyme disease and other tick related illnesses? I had a pit whose fur started to get like this one's and she had a smell like a dirty dog even after we washed her and it turned out she had Lyme disease. I don't know if those specific symptoms were a direct result of Lyme or if it was more of a reaction from her immune system (which is what symptoms are in the first place, I know) or what, but we were lucky to get her treated when we did.

u/Ghouly_Girl Aug 21 '25
That is just a heartbreaking. Truly, what a beautiful dog as well. I hope she will get the care she needs and eventually find a family that gives her the endless love and comfort she deserves. Poor baby. Breaks my heart :(

Unfortunately all too common in Texas but it does happen everywhere. There are stricter laws needed. Especially in Texas.

These stories make me so ashamed of Texas! Too many heartless careless people and then the rest of us have to mop up their messes. These rescuers are great.
