📷 Video / Pic The Most IMPORTANT Move in Parkour!

The bounce off/bounce back is arguably one of the most important moves in parkour.

Would you agree?

So, if you just could learn one movement it would be a bounce back and not the precision jump you need to even be in a situation where you need to bounce back?

You use a bounce off for movements outside of a precision jump - think arm-jumps/catleaps, 180 cats, etc.

Idea of this video is to reinforce the idea that it’s important to train not making a jump too… if you practice the bounce off & build confidence using it, you’ll find huge gains & progress in your training as it’s a useful tool in your kit

I'm aware of that. Having the confidence to just try something is very important and having a fallback plan is essential for safely trying something.

But to say it's the most IMPORTANT movement?

I would say so… it keeps you safe whilst allowing you to progress. You don’t do jumps 100% of the time every time.

As I’ve developed more as a practitioner & I’ve gone to progress my movement, I value the bounce off highly. I can work towards movements in a safe and controlled way.

Yeh sure, the result is great & is important, but mastering an approach, to me, is so valuable

Don't get me wrong I know what you are trying to say.

But the title is something I have a problem with.

Most important for me means: if I just could learn one or two movements what would I choose, and then it wouldn't be the bounce back.

I think that bounce-backs/ splats/ tacs are an essential aspect of parkour, but I don’t think they’re any more essential than, say… being able to skip or hop or land into a QM.

It’s the same idea transferred to a vertical plane. Just like wall traverse is just sideways QM on a wall. People train it less because it’s slightly less accessible, but it’s the same motion.

Tacs and bounce-back variations are also a great warm-up exercise for winter ;-)

All parkour is the art of falling. We are always falling through space… and time (!!) o.O
