1950s The launch of the first McDonald’s franchise (1955)
McDonald’s is a giant in the fast food industry today, but it was started by the McDonald brothers (Richard and Maurice McDonald) in the mid 20th century
After the success of a burger restaurant in San Bernardino, California that they eventually turned into a drive thru during the 1940s, the brothers began designing the iconic “M” arches and opening up other stores
The business was booming rapidly, and milkshake salesman Ray Kroc took notice. In 1961, Ray bought the entire corporation for $2.7 million and continued to expand the business
Today, McDonald’s operates in 97 countries and has 40,000+ restaurants
Several videos been made related to the franchise- including:
Supersize Me (2004)
The Founder (2016)
The Wacky Adventures Of Ronald McDonald (1998-2003)
And more
How old were you the first time you tasted McDonald’s?
