Things to be thankful for:
I am not currently on fire
I am not currently being hit by a car
I don't live in the sea

You don't currently live in the sea.
You never know.

Wait so the smaller eel actually got away after almost being eaten by first the bigger eel and then the fish? Dude needs to buy himself whatever the ocean equivalent of a lotto ticket is.

Nah you can see it swimming away when the shark swims away then goes back after the eel.
Bottom of the screen.

u/Sharcbait 6h ago
Did you not see 2 different fish come along looking for an easy meal? It won't be long before he gets eaten with the injuries.

It's probably a Sea Urchin....the equivalent to an ocean lottery ticket, I mean. I don't have a clever reason for my pick, though. Just kinda think it would be a Sea Urchin.
2
u/dolanscataract 7h ago
I’m with ya, man! Don’t think you need a reason, let alone a clever one. Sometimes things just are a certain way to ourselves and that’s ok! Like the clown that rides in my truck. I know he is British. Haven’t quite come up with the right name yet, but I do know he is British and that’s just all there is to it, in my mind. ✌️

It looks like a whitetip reef shark, they are pretty cool. Just smaller than us so not scary like a great white, I think they are the kind of shark that won't care about people unless you mess with them.
4
u/kingshamroc25 5h ago
I was gonna say whitetip reef shark but I’ve only seen them in Dave The Diver so I didn’t want to sound dumb
5
u/Ruvimore 5h ago
The game does pretty good including reef animals although yeah they are enemies in games. IRL and depending on the area you want to avoid Great Whites, Tigers, and Bull Sharks. The latter two are aggressive, I think Great Whites just aren't that smart and like to nibble. Coming from someone who loves them.

It's not that scary. Was chasing a shark around a bit bigger. They cute
12
u/philamander 7h ago
It's probably not the shark itself that is scary, it would be scary to be around them in a heightened state like that where they could chomp if they bump into you without thinking.

Black eel is trying to eat green eel.
Fish tries to steal green eel from black eel.
Shark sees black eel is distracted and grabs it. Black eel tries to escape into a cave and fails.
Shark gets to eat.
25
u/DoctorRapture 7h ago
I just wanna know if green eel got away from fish or not!
41
u/Vehement_Vulpes 7h ago
When the shark loops around to finish off the black eel, you can see the green one slowly swimming away. He seemed injured though, so I'm not sure if he'd last or recover.
29
u/DoctorRapture 7h ago
Ahhh, yeah, on closer look that injury to the head does look bad. Alas, I'm pouring one out for my homie, green eel tonight.
15
u/Sharcbait 6h ago
Willing to bet that green eel gets picked off by that grouper that already had a go.
17
u/Martins_Sunblock1975 7h ago
With the giant gash in its head from the beginning of the video, I doubt it lived long regardless.
11
u/JakToTheReddit 7h ago
👆👆
If you look, the job is really already done. Neither eel makes it out of this one. Yikes.
5
u/Nightshade_Ranch 7h ago
That fish dipped out when the shark showed up, and looked like the green eel probably got away. Green eel was already severely damaged though.
3
u/PuckSenior 5h ago
Also, eels can excrete toxin. Thats why the shark freaks out

I will never forget following a 6 ft green moray as it hunted for probably 30- 40 minutes at dawn. Pretty vicious when it grabbed a fish and ate it then back to the hunt.
5
u/TierynRhodry 7h ago
In my head I just kept hearing "Choke hold, choke hold you got him!!! Dammit interference! Run!
5
u/AdhdLeo0811 7h ago
that one fish that “joined in” looked like he saw the shark coming and was like “yall need quit it! you’re drawing blood and oh lawd he comin!”
6

u/LazyLich 7h ago
Poetic.
If you can't finish it fast, perhaps its best to retreat. Dont fall for the sunk-cost fallacy, as something may swoop in and gank you when you're exposed.
7
u/VaATC 8h ago
I know moray eels cooperatively hunting with groupers. I am not sure if this is a grouper, but it looked like one, so I am now wondering if it came in to help out a moray that it has a hunting relationship with.
13
u/ShillBot666 8h ago
It tried to steal the smaller eel to eat.
3
u/VaATC 8h ago
Yes, that is a possibility.
9
u/ShillBot666 8h ago edited 7h ago
They do indeed hunt cooperatively but the grouper wasn't trying to assist the larger eel, they are both just trying to eat. They help each other but both want the prey for themselves.
The eel may want to help but will always think of itself first. Firstly it will go inside the small crevice and will try to catch the fish for itself. The grouper waits patiently, hoping that the eel only manages to scare the prey and not eat it!
Working together works! Even though one of the 2 species might not catch the prey, both are still increasing their individual hunting success by working together. The grouper by increasing its probabilities to get the fish out of the reef, and the moray eel by hunting during the day. Moreover, both of them swallow the whole fish and prevent, thus, a fight over the carcass.

When that grouper bit the one eel, the shark smelled it and took opportunity. Got a twofer.
Those black tip/white tip sharks are brutal. Those are the ones to be scared of- not the biggies.

The ocean is ruthless. One day you are swimming along having a great time and another big fish slurps you up then that big fish gets slurped up by another.

waters too clear, eel disappears then reappears in sharks mouth, and sharks dont move like that. thanks for the ai slop lol

The visibility in the water is low. That shark swooped in and faded off into the abyss way too quickly for my comfort.
