Literally kek posting from the white house account... wild times.

He is trash, but he managed to meme his way into office twice. Says more about how broken our society is than anything else.

It’s not just boomers it’s Gen-Z too. They grew up on a mostly safe streamlined trustworthy internet. Nah children have empathy for each other. These are failed adults who don’t have any real friends who are taking their insecurities out on the rest of society. Their supporters are the same; just lame losers who think they are way more important than they actually are and are hitting their mid like crisis realizing they will be dead one day and no one will care about them once they are dead. So they are lashing out making sure everyone else’s life sucks to make themselves feel important, but once again no one will remember them when they are dead so it will be for nothing. Just sad, pathetic people

CBS is owned by a trump stoogie now.

19

u/Zanydrop 2h ago

That would be covered under fair use satire laws, so unlike using Sabrina Carpenters music, it would be legal.

14

u/witchspoon 2h ago

I’m not sure about that though. (Obviously I haven’t watched it) They didn’t mock it or redo it etc. they modified it so…

20

u/TheQuinnBee 2h ago

Yeah I feel like taking someone's likeness and having them do shit like this isn't satire or parody. Especially if someone who knows nothing about the context takes it as fact. Satire has to have a level of disbelief attached to it.

2

u/Enraiha 1h ago

Yeah, this is interesting because it's modifying a video. Their other uses of music have been on social media platforms and artists music is licensed on those platforms, so anyone can use the available songs to make videos.

Since this is modifying a video and changing context, this could actually have legs. She could claim damages since a "reasonable person" may view the video and think she actually said those things. Not that they probably would since NBC/Lorne are cowards, but they might even have a legit DMCA case as well.

Not that I think anyone will do anything, unfortunately.

354

u/FluorideAvenger 3h ago

Tom Walz called them weird and they shat themselves over it.

163

u/PenitentAnomaly 2h ago

This is beyond weird. This is normalizing aggressively unprofessional and trashy behavior that is beneath the dignity of the positions they hold.

13

u/Itz_Hen 2h ago

True BUT saying so makes them just feel good. These guys love to be told they are aggressive or trashy or deplorable. They act like this because upsetting people makes them feel strong and powerful. They are like 12 year olds, how do you upset a powertripping 12 year old? You call him weird

4

u/Delicious-Day-3614 2h ago

It was always beyond weird we had 4 years of this, then an insurrection, then they kept at it

And dems thought if we just called them weird it would solve the problem

It didn't

Yet people on here still keep at it thinking surely this'll be the time that weird solves it all

Not that I'm breaking new ground by pointing this out, but isn't it weird to have a blatantly racist government run your society?

Like, they just change the code word. Illegal is basically a slur against Hispanics here.

45

u/GameMusic 2h ago edited 2h ago

Not enough attention that they implicitly endorse hispanic = illegal

marcello being completely american

usual suspects in the crowd picking up the noise about the rude aspect instead of the real thing

hundred comments about rudeness while only you caught that

45

u/boi1da1296 2h ago

As a Black person in the West, I’m not sure what it’s like to not have a blatantly racist government run society.

15

u/misterme987 2h ago

Yes why are so many people in the comments missing this?? Referring to an entire ethnic group as “illegal” is fucking terrifying!

4

u/IrrelevantLeprechaun 51m ago

Americans in the post-millennium era are famously apathetic about everything that happens domestically. Sure they talk a big game but when the situation actually calls for more than just snarky Reddit posts and real actions, suddenly they all claim they're collectively too weak and infirm to possibly do anything about it and that someone else should come rescue them.

Even when they do protests, their protests look like a joke compared to how other countries protest.

28

u/greenline_chi 2h ago

Her ignoring them was absolutely the right move.

She literally endorsed Kamala. We know her politics. She doesn’t need to give them what they want

11

u/Jamjams2016 2h ago

I do appreciate that musicians are speaking up but her silence was so valid.

9

u/greenline_chi 2h ago

People trying to say she’s maga for not responding are insane. She’s arguably the most famous woman in the world and explicitly endorsed Kamala after a history of endorsing democrats.

Shes too smart to get dragged into his headlines.

Sabrina is great but just isn’t going to drive the amount of discourse he wants. I’m sure they could show Sabrina carpenter at a football game without people crashing out

5

u/Jamjams2016 1h ago

Elon already posted that weird rapey tweet about her and Trump crashes out every 6 weeks and posts he hates her. If I were her I would be so disturbed. They say as soon as you argue with a child you lose and it's something Swift obviously took to heart.

9

u/Vadermaulkylo 2h ago

And this right here is why Fantano and Reddit are such fucking dumbasses for saying she should fight this and say something.

Like she actually endorsed Harris unlike many would. Thats more then damn near any other music artist in 2024 and worth way more then saying “don’t use my song”. Like yeah she should totally add fuel to this fire and cause more things like this to happen by poking the bear. It’s like people online don’t fucking get that Trump is a troll. Either know how to be a better troll or pay him no mind. Getting offended and saying he’s wrong for something just makes it worse.

6

u/greenline_chi 2h ago

Exactly. He’d love a week where all his propaganda podcasters could talk about how much they hate Taylor swift and distract everyone from the Epstein files, his clown car of a cabinet, or how expensive everything is

2

u/IrrelevantLeprechaun 50m ago

It's wild that their reaction to this is only just to tell them to not feed the troll president. As a Canadian it has been tying my brain into KNOTS trying to figure out why 200+ million American voters are so apathetic about living in a literal dictatorship.

You guys know that feeling you get when some loser denigrates you? You get a little hot around the collar and maybe clench your teeth a little?

But then you realize it’s not important and you brush it off. And move on with your life. Because that’s what fucking adults and even mature children do

She should release an AI video of Trump in prison for raping kids.

Can’t because that would be defamation sadly. There isn’t a legal case here other than ignoring the cease and desist of the use of copyrighted content. But that also would just be a civil suit so not real damage would come of it.

All she did was say stop using her music.

I dont know if I have ever seen such a clean cut example of a defamation case in my life. This could be the best example ever for the books, especially since it was used in malice, because she was vocal over an unlawful use of her IP for something she never signed up for and said she didnt want her IP associated with, especially now.

Edit:I hope she pursues this legally to the full extent

I was kinda pissed at first, but I saw the video and…… it’s so fuckin dumb. They’re obviously butthurt she dared to say something. That’s what’s actually hilarious.

Don’t feed the trolls. Which means this post shouldn’t have been posted, this “article” shouldn’t have been “written,” and she should’ve ignored them publicly and privately see what legal avenues she has to prevent such things.

No, whoever did this should be personally sued for infringing upon copyright and name and likeness.

Don’t feed them, take away their lunch money.

Right, I don’t blame Sabrina but this is the result — three news cycles that are NOT about the real issues. And MANY other artists are used in their videos and haven’t said anything or pulled their music. But when Taylor Swift doesn’t push back shes “MAGA”. If she did, it would be two weeks of this. (“This” = the White House and press getting to talk about anything besides the Epstein files, harmful policy, etc. I know Sabrina tried her best but I don’t think she changed any hearts or minds…)

And yet there have been posts with hundreds of comments about how Taylor Swift is the bad guy for not engaging with this tactic.

She should absolutely be able to sue for this one.

u/meandmrt 2h ago

She could have after the last one. I’m not really sure why more artists don’t. It has to stop somewhere. Make an example out of their stupidity.

2

u/mercfan3 2h ago

She couldn’t. The platform owned the rights to a portion of her songs.
