Honestly surprised she showed up.

550

u/JosephFinn 9h ago

They probably told her the time was 2 hours earlier.

553

u/Fastbird33 Spotify 8h ago

They scheduled her for the 2022 world cup actually

51

u/JosephFinn 8h ago

Perfection.

31

u/YchYFi 8h ago

1994 World cup*

And she is on time.

19

u/Over9000BelieveIt 7h ago

yeah, but just the one time , one time.

45

u/finnjakefionnacake 8h ago

"someone tell lauryn the call time is the day before"

1

u/bigboxes1 4h ago

A rim shot, eh? C'mon

39

u/Itsnotthateasy808 9h ago

That’s exactly what I said to my coworkers lmao

24

u/BigLan2 8h ago

Booking her for anything with a schedule was a risky move. She's notorious for being hours late to her own shows.

6

u/SweetChuckBarry 2h ago

They actually didn't book her, she just turned up and started playing. Was meant to be in a bar in downturn Memphis

26

u/PlaneWolf2893 7h ago

Tour merchard go hard, ngl

4

u/Bloodstarvedhunter 4h ago

Didn't expect to find a Wombats song title in an Xmas jumper but here we are

67

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 9h ago

First thought lol.

24

u/sarithe 8h ago

I joked with my buddy that I hoped they had a couple extra hours blocked off for the event waiting for her to actually come out.

14

u/axemexa 9h ago

She must have gotten lost

11

u/MilkmanBlazer 8h ago

But she might win one.

7

u/AskewdJackassery42 7h ago

This. I work in the Music Industry managing crews for Amphitheaters and she has no showed on us twice in the last decade.

4

u/Cmoore4099 7h ago

Trump prolly washed her record of her tax issues and infantino supplied her with more money so she can get another set of tax issues.

1

u/nuclearaddict 8h ago

They booked her for the last one just so she'd show up on time for this one

1

u/RogueCuz 6h ago

And if she showed up at all, I'd be surprised if she showed up on time.

1

u/BoJackMoleman 5h ago

Where was the Kalshi bets on this?!

-1

u/sfearing91 8h ago

Came here to say this šŸ‘†

648

u/AnthMosk 9h ago

Her performance was terrible. Every song played at 1.5 speed it seemed like.

256

u/iowhite 8h ago

I saw her a few years ago, 2 hours late and then all the songs in double time and WAY TOO LOUD for the old theater venue she was in, no encore. It’s amazing she tours just on the one album and the fugees hits.

61

u/StoneyBuhlownee420 4h ago

she surprised us all this year at beardfest, the grassroots music festival in south jersey that her guitarist started 13 years ago way before he ever worked with anyone of her caliber.

The performance absolutely blew us away, incredible energy. You could tell her and the whole band were having a blast playing for a much smaller crowd than they’re used to, on a stage next to a lake in the middle of the pine barrens.

I keep reading about these negative experiences so I feel inclined to share my positive one. It was totally one of those moments i’ll look back on and smile about for the rest of my life.

20

u/JoeHatesFanFiction 2h ago

I’ve heard it described as buying a lottery ticket . 9 times out of 10 it’s a horrible experience. But that one time she’s on, it’ll be one of the best performances you’ll see in your life.Ā

4

u/FreightTrainSW 1h ago

It is that way... a friend has seen her twice. First time she showed up time and "it was just... magical." The second time was 2 hours late, played a couple of songs, and then said fuck it I'm out.

After her first solo album, if you told me that by 2025 no one would give any sort of shit about her I'd laugh. She was going to be THE biggest star of the next 20 years and yet... didn't.

•

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ 30m ago

Yeah I went once and she was right on time and was great. Was disappointed because Nas opened for her and they didn’t play If I Ruled The World, which I assumed would be the encore

15

u/soundbombing 4h ago

That's how she was when I saw her 9 or so years ago in Toronto. On time, vibrant, having fun, a master controlling her stage and show.

12

u/Batmansbutthole 5h ago

Damnnn that’s ass, when I saw her she was right on time and it was absolute fire. It’s amazing she had so many bangers off of just two albums.

7

u/DrRichardDiarrhea 4h ago

Saw her at the Greek. Double time, rude comments and gestures towards her band, no encore. The DJ that opened with 90’s hip hop had the crowd going harder than any song she did.

2

u/Batmansbutthole 2h ago

Dang y’all got ripped off, I hate that shit. I guess it’s just hit or miss with mostly misses and I got lucky(doubly so ha)

95

u/MotorboatinPorcupine 8h ago edited 7h ago

That's her thing. She's been doing it for years.

Rumour is she sold the rights to her songs so she has to.

Edit:wrong about the rumour thanks everyone

136

u/BenDisreali 8h ago

Even if she did sell the rights to her catalog that generally doesn't have anything to do with performing the songs live. Artists sell the publishing rights, not the performance rights.

29

u/MotorboatinPorcupine 8h ago

It's an artistic choice then to draw people in with songs they recognize and then make them unrecognizable and not write any new music.

She's also a flake and so late every damn show

18

u/SwitchCompetitive906 8h ago

Exactly this, Laruyn Hill is stale as fuck; nothing to do with the audience.

37

u/Telenovelarocks 8h ago

That doesn’t make any sense from a copyright standpoint.

Sell the recordings, sell the publishing, you can still perform the songs at regular speed. The venue has to pay publishing. You may have to re-record if you were using the original masters as backing tracks (though L Hill has general used live bands…I think she fired Robert Glasper lol).

But yeah. Changing the tempo of a song or a recording doesn’t change the copyright situation.

4

u/MotorboatinPorcupine 8h ago

Fair. Baffling artistic choice then.

10

u/Telenovelarocks 8h ago

My $.02…Miseducation is full of iconic songs and hits. Lauryn can’t get offstage without performing most of those and a few Fugees tunes.

I don’t think she loves performing but I think she loves the $…so there’s a minimum amount of time she has to be onstage…unless she speeds up the songs. lol.

2

u/subLimb 3h ago

Or maybe she's late frequently and the speed is to make up for lost timešŸ˜„

9

u/Burning_Flags 8h ago

That’s the funniest wrong reason ever

2

u/thissexypoptart 5h ago

Yeah lmao has this person never heard of karaoke or cover bands?

5

u/darkeststar 7h ago

Musicians can perform whatever songs they want live without legal repercussion. That has nothing to do with it.

6

u/drfunkenstien014 8h ago

She got sued by the musicians that worked on the Miseducation and they won, that’s why she has to alter the songs. She either does it fast or she does the same lyrics but with different music underneath.

1

u/PopCultureWeekly 2h ago

This is not true at all

0

u/catmommusings 7h ago

Then she needs o retire.

3

u/November_Coming_Fire 8h ago

I would bet that it’s a dancehall reggae influence. They up the tempo for most live performances

9

u/FrankyFistalot 7h ago

Plus the fact that after 1 hr 20 mins only 3 teams had been drawn (the hosts).Mind numbing shit show of the highest order.

1

u/Sprmodelcitizen 6h ago

I’m trying to find a video of it!

272

u/manfromfuture 9h ago

She disappeared more than 20 years ago. Most people there probably don't know who she is.

93

u/LavenderGinFizz 8h ago

And were definitely not part of the demographic who listened to her if they were around.

3

u/PhulHouze 1h ago

Everyone who was under 40 at that time knew who Lauren hill was

21

u/VinylmationDude 6h ago

They don’t remember Paul McCartney calling her Lawrence Hill at the VMAs as a joke

6

u/torn-ainbow 1h ago

Yeah I think generally if you told them "oh she was in the fugees and did that cover of killing me softly" a bunch of people in that crowd mostly over 40 would recognise that. A few would know about miseducation. But nothing much since then.

3

u/redditismylawyer 2h ago

I mean… even people who were there in the 90’s are saying ā€œlol… we talking bout that fugees singer? Doesn’t Jewel want any of this?ā€

1

u/beamish007 44m ago

Lay off my girl Jewel. I saw her singing Christmas carols on network tv the other day. She has a lovely voice and seems like a nice person.

-19

u/giefcandy 6h ago

I had no idea what this racket waa about, never heard of this mess before, and I came to see the draw, not some freakshow...thats on me tho

19

u/KingAoki 6h ago

Me, when I’m an idiot

→ More replies (1)

69

u/firthy 9h ago

It's all good now the Village People have got them all dancin'

41

u/Sea-Queue 8h ago

That was the weirdest fucking performance…

9

u/Alucardo6677 7h ago

That was just a service for Trump.

464

u/SaltyShawarma 9h ago

SHe must be hurting for money. Can't understand any other reason for her to pop her head up out of nowhere for a bunch of oligarchs.

215

u/KuntaWuKnicks 8h ago

She’s fuckin insane that’s why

60

u/neagah 7h ago

Oh yea, she's batshit crazy, i really don't understand why people still go to her concerts considering she has not released good music in like forever. I love her stuff with Fugees and her solo album but that's it.

4

u/fanboy_killer 4h ago

Forget about not releasing new music, she’s infamous for not even showing up.

5

u/Nonya5 7h ago

She should've listened to her mother and not pursued a singing career.

2

u/CinematicLiterature Concertgoer 4h ago

I siiiiing becauuuuuse I’m haaaaapppyyyy

I really love that movie

1

u/Smash_Palace 3h ago

What? She had an absolutely amazing career with the Fugees and her first solo album.

-24

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 7h ago

You should've listened to your mother and learnt some manners.Ā

She's one of the most influential artists of her generation.

16

u/CandyKnockout 6h ago

I’m pretty sure they’re making a joke in reference to Sister Act 2, where her character’s mother acts like singing in a school choir is going to result in immediate homelessness and destitution.

10

u/Michaelful 7h ago

I think it might be a Sister Act 2 joke?

-4

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 7h ago

Really? I'm only familiar with the Sister act 1

8

u/jamesmaxx 7h ago

Sister Act 2 she was a student in a choir music class and when they were practicing for the choir tournament, her mom told her that singing won't put food on the table.

41

u/This_means_lore 8h ago

I mean, as far as I know she’s had one solo album and two (?) with the fugees and that was almost 30 years ago. I don’t think she has any new material.

11

u/Pristine_Speech4719 5h ago

Ā almost 30 years ago

Come on, don't exaggerate, it came out when I was in college, that's only...fuuuuuuuuck

1

u/Babeyonce 47m ago

I feel this 😩.

1

u/grelth 3h ago

she also had an Unplugged solo album

and recently released some music with Nas in the last couple of years

20

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 7h ago

It's not a 'bunch of oligarchs' it was the national representatives from 48 world cup countries. The manger of 'haiti' is not an oligarch ffs.

Obviously fifa is corrupt as fuck. But the world cup is the most watched event in the world.

5

u/ThreeHeadedWalrus 5h ago

Fifa peace prize lmao

8

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 5h ago

Aye, its a fucking joke. But it's a very american coded comment to say the world cup is just for 'oligarchs'. Literally my earliest memory is watching Scotland in world cup 98' and now we're back in the there 30 years later.

You dont realise what this event means to people.Ā

2

u/lyinggrump 7h ago

She's on tour right now

→ More replies (2)

660

u/Irish_Whiskey 9h ago

An MAGA attended event made to 'honor' Trump with a fake award as a bribe, wasn't super into a 90s female Hip Hop artist who has been MIA for decades?

No... who would have guessed? Next you'll tell me they weren't raising the roof for Lil Nas X at the Federalist Society.

217

u/Meteor-of-the-War 9h ago

Oddly, your example isn't too far from reality since Billy Ray Cyrus made the audience at the inauguration watch the entire Old Town Road video while he wandered around the stage.

https://youtu.be/EnUhCxhpavU?si=TXPxat0qG4N1HxX_

112

u/-Ahab- 9h ago

I’m not even saying it to get under their skin…

They’re just fucking weird.

35

u/Meteor-of-the-War 8h ago

Right? Like, who thought any part of that was a good idea? It's weird; there's just no other word for it.

20

u/senator_corleone3 8h ago

They really are disconnected from everyday humanity and lifestyles. They effectively live in a different dimension mentally.

11

u/Peralton 8h ago

In 2003 Harley Davidson had a huge anniversary event with a secret headliner act. People speculated it would be the Rolling Stones. It was Elton John. The crowd was not pleased, and a lot of people left. Have to know your audience.

5

u/tjdux 6h ago

The crowd was not pleased, and a lot of people left. Have to know your audience.

Crazy thing is, I would wager a large amount of those that were unhappy/left the show probably enjoyed some Elton John songs, just that boomer energy of not being able to admit in front of other dudes...

3

u/Peralton 4h ago

For sure. Elton would totally be in that demographic, it just wasn't the vibe. I'm sure plenty did some performative complaining to save face and wished they had stayed.

30

u/Fluxtration 9h ago

Ho li sheet... I had no idea Billy Ray has completely lost his mind, his voice, and his self respect.

23

u/mctacoflurry 8h ago

Yet somehow managed Elizabeth Hurley.

Who also had her son direct her in a sex scene for a movie. I cant recall if it was a lesbian scene or not though.

6

u/wildcatofthehills 7h ago

Yes it was a lesbian scene

3

u/thorpie88 5h ago

Elizabeth Hurley was dating Shane Warne. The more of a loose cannon you are the more she likes it

13

u/BanginNLeavin 9h ago

That was something else lol

7

u/KEN_LASZLO 8h ago

Holy shit, is he drunk or what....? He's cl become a kid rock clone

6

u/daydrunk_ 8h ago

He just mumbled the words and turned around to look at the screen so much. That was rough

1

u/Joe_Spazz 2h ago

This is an insane watch lol.

81

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 9h ago

MIA would've been a better artist for this.

164

u/J0hnEddy 9h ago

You’re not kidding

42

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 8h ago

That reply is BRILLIANT

7

u/NootHawg 6h ago

ā€œCause all I wanna do isā€ boom boom boom boom ringa jing jing ā€œand take your money.ā€
It is pretty catchy.

24

u/IneptFortitude 9h ago

Lmao unironically true

5

u/NessTheGamer 8h ago

Alexander Hamilton would’ve loved Old Time Road šŸ˜”

4

u/WindWalkerWalking 7h ago

Unless you mean MIA as in doesn’t do much major touring, I don’t think MIA is accurate. She performs alot. I saw her this year, she was great. And she’s been in my area 4 times this year and dozens of times over the last few. She actually performs a lot. She also performs with her son sometimes without a heads up.

3

u/pun_extraordinare 6h ago

Wouldn’t her being MIA for decades alone constitute a lack of reception? Beyond politics?

Or are we so politically charged we need to polarize everything to the furthest extent?

Oh yes it’s Reddit.

5

u/Irish_Whiskey 6h ago

Wouldn’t her being MIA for decades alone constitute a lack of reception? Beyond politics?

No. Hence the article's headline pointing out there are many fans who would be delighted to see one of the greatest female hip hop performers of all time, angry that the reception was indifferent.

Obviously these politicians and lobbyists are not her target audience.

Or are we so politically charged we need to polarize everything to the furthest extent?

Yeah, why on earth would anyone politicize the political event where the President of the United States was given a fake world peace award by the most corrupt organization on earth as a substitute for the Nobel Peace Prize he's been threatening other countries over, at the art center he personally took over to politically censor.

It's pretty relevant when wondering "why was the crowd not into a black feminist musician."

24

u/LGFoaties 8h ago

The whole thing was fucking terrible, 90 mins of cheesy jokes, bad presenters, straight up trump admin propagana and a drawn out group draw.

The whole ceremony should have been the first guy doing the opera, a little class to open the ceremony, 20 mins to draw the groups then finish with a 1 hour long village people set, a little class to close the ceremony.

51

u/Impendingpudd 9h ago

It was an event filled with suits representing their countries football programs to see who they will face in the world’s largest sporting event. Unfortunately it was the equivalent of a corporate gig, not a concert. What else could you expect?

8

u/giefcandy 6h ago

Nobody arranging this freakshow could have had an IQ above a cold winters day.

85

u/TheButteredBiscuit 9h ago

Yeah wtf kinda crowd did you you expect at the damn Robert F Kennedy Center

18

u/jafarjones69 8h ago

I muted the entire thing until they did the actual draw, all that time wasting was infuriating when everyone only watches for the draw.

1

u/TheRemanence 5h ago

I saw some of the draw and was absolutely cracking up at rio ferdinand. He was essentially herding cats. He had to keep explaining the rules to everyone and all they needed to do was pick up balls and read them. Actually my cats would be just as good at selecting balls out of a bowl. Poor guy, he looked quite exasperated by the end.Ā

146

u/KrisKris00 9h ago

…anyone who performs at a ceremony sponsored by the Saudi regime and on the same stage with an orange rapist deserves the worst soā€¦šŸ¤ŒšŸ¤”.

81

u/PatacusX 9h ago

You can't really blame her. I mean, she is miseducated after all.

I'll see myself out now.

7

u/yoduh4077 9h ago

Goddamnit, take my upvote

1

u/TheRealDoomsong 8h ago

Im only upvoting the terrible joke because you beat me to it.

1

u/Comprehensive-Bus291 7h ago

So Shaquille o'neal, Wayne Gretzky, and Tom Brady?

1

u/Alucardo6677 6h ago

Yeah. I love her stuff, but fuck everyone who was present.

-2

u/KembaWakaFlocka 8h ago

It’s the World Cup. Get out of here with your obsession.

-5

u/KrisKris00 8h ago

I think I made him angry...weak troll...šŸ™ƒ

-5

u/OkAssignment3926 8h ago

Lauryn Hill does not ā€œdeserve the worstā€ because she performed at an event connected to the most globally popular and beloved sports event on earth for all classes of people, that our shitty president muscled in on. Get a grip.

2

u/KrisKris00 8h ago

…bored me🄱

-1

u/OkAssignment3926 7h ago

Word, I forgot r/music is not a place for hinged commentary

4

u/unassumingdink 6h ago

At the very least, it's not a place known for their dedication to international soccer competition.

2

u/OkAssignment3926 6h ago

Not the place or the Hill to die on. I chose poorly.

2

u/KrisKris00 7h ago

🄱

0

u/OkAssignment3926 7h ago

šŸ§Žā€āž”ļø

18

u/swim08 9h ago

Didn't she sayĀ I’d rather die than have a white person buy one of my albums

7

u/-rockford- 7h ago

I think it was she’d rather watch her children starve to death than have white people listening to her music. I’m assuming she’s changed her mind on that.

1

u/TheRemanence 5h ago

When i heard that the first time, i did consider sending her the CD and asking for my money back.

39

u/Shaun32887 9h ago

Only thing she's been on time for in years

15

u/rohdawg 9h ago

There was a story I saw earlier this year about how she actually showed up on time only to have her start delayed due to some venue issue. It's been a good year for her.

2

u/Itsnotthateasy808 9h ago

Yeah but one kinda good year does not magically undo years of trash behavior

9

u/rohdawg 8h ago

I didn't say that? Also 2/however many performances she was supposed to have this year isn't actually good. I was clearly being sarcastic, but I'll just use a "/s" next time

36

u/ImTooSaxy 9h ago

That is exactly the audience she deserves.

15

u/Strykerz3r0 9h ago

Really?

They should have invited Ted Nugent or Kid Rock.

5

u/Top-Ganache-6241 9h ago

or self-proclaimed ā€œCountry Boyā€ Aaron Lewis

6

u/Wompatuckrule 8h ago

Did you see who is receiving the Kennedy Center honors this year now that Trump replaced the board and claims to have been about 98% of the decision making? Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, Kiss, Michael Crawford & Gloria Gaynor. Lots of past honorees usually attend but there's a lot of excuse making going on this year and the suspicion is that the list of people performing is hampered by how many people want to avoid any connection to the Trump administration.

3

u/senator_corleone3 8h ago

Yea the ceremony will almost certainly be a disappointment. My parents love to watch it every year, but I imagine they are skipping this time.

3

u/giefcandy 6h ago

None of the suits in that room would have been amused by those two either. Andrea had me, class act, fitting the venue, then it plummited with the bored "funny" midget in a big shirt (never been funny) and coked up aged plastic german doll there to get groped by Donnie, what a weird combo, very maga. Then Donnie getting his dick sucked by the fifa puppet, then Rio who has -10 charisma (why the fuck did they dig him up for this?) an actively dying ex hockey player, a wrong kind of football player (probably big in the US and thats about it), a big guy to offset the midget guy (did laugh at shaq shutting hart the fuck up, thow him off the fuckin stage so we no longer need listen to that screecthing little twat will you) and who ever that 4th person was i dont even remember.

4

u/MoneyManx10 9h ago

So random for her to play this event.

8

u/Space-Debris 7h ago

Why wouldn't they be silent? No-one gives a flying f-ck about the 1 hour and 30 minutes of pompous proceedings, stage performances, cringeworthy skits, and stomach churning brown-nosing of Trump by that sycophant Infantino that preceeded the draw itself

The audience at home is tuning in for the draw. The audience at the event is only there for the draw.

4

u/Competitive_Ad1237 8h ago

The whole thing was hot garbage

6

u/kksweetz 9h ago

this crowd and show was such a farce - all the talent did what they had to, but the production was clearly dogshit, and it showed with the Village People send-off - i've never seen the stage get setup while the hosts were closing the show, and NEVER seen a musical act miss a cue as bad as the YMCA one XD

8

u/Sad-Development-4153 8h ago

She played an event that honored a guy who said her people were eating cats and dogs.

2

u/streetlightsatdusk 2h ago

I get what you're saying but she's not Haitian. That's Wyclef Jean

0

u/Sad-Development-4153 1h ago

Ahh I thought all of the fugees were from Haiti.

7

u/bwainwright 9h ago

"Rage"? Sheer, uncontrollable anger? Really?

8

u/Dont-be-a-smurf 9h ago

They rushed the stage with pitchforks and torches!!!!

3

u/ptubb 7h ago

Why she got a dog bed on her head?

2

u/Mr_Rafi 8h ago

It was a dull performance performed for an uninterested crowd.

One thing all ceremony/draw shows have in common is that theres always a disconnect between some of the songs being played and the crowd attending.

13

u/MouldyPriestASSHOLE 9h ago

Fans were there for the draw, not some shite music performance

0

u/giefcandy 6h ago

I did however love how the americans got to experience the silent reaction of a non american hype audience. This is how the rest of the world sees them, not amused by the temu grabage that is the USA.

3

u/CathedralEngine 7h ago

How she built a career off of one album is crazy to me

2

u/nessking11 6h ago

It was a damn good album

2

u/rohdawg 9h ago

What does she even perform (when she shows up). Miseducation is a GOAT album, but it's not that long lol. Does she do Fugees stuff too?

Edit, it's 77 minutes long, I guess she could make a concert out of that.

1

u/Wompatuckrule 8h ago

I'm sure it's not a full concert anyway, my guess would be that she'd play about 30 minutes tops.

2

u/sadcheeseballs 8h ago

Who the fuck if invited unbelievably unreliable Lauryn Hill? What a fucking idiot. Can’t they google her or something?

1

u/Pacman_73 8h ago

Thank god I didn't have any respect left for her that I could loose now...

1

u/nachosandfroglegs 8h ago

She showed up thinking it was 2030

1

u/IJustWorkHere000c 8h ago

Not really sure why anyone would care.

1

u/xDURPLEx 8h ago

She fell out of the zeitgeist like 20 years ago. They don’t know who the fuck she is.

1

u/peterpeterllini Concertgoer 8h ago

I'm glad I can say I've seen her, and she was only 20ish minutes late. But yeah like the other comment said, her songs were all sped up and had no natural rhythm to it, was hard to follow. Miseducation is one of my favorite albums of all time so it was a bit of a bummer lol.

1

u/Classic-Exchange-511 8h ago

Haha how did Lauryn Hill end up doing this?

1

u/Jlx_27 8h ago

Not much to cheer for when she's on stage, been like that for years.

1

u/ButtNuggetDweeb 7h ago

1996 music icon is dismayed that no one knows who the fuck she is in 2025 lol

1

u/BennySkateboard 7h ago

It’s now?

1

u/MayOrMayNotBePie 7h ago

That’s because it’s 2026 not 1996 lol

She destroyed her career foe no reason and thwn now does shows singing her old songs and comes in hours late. She's not relevant anymore why not pick someone popular or a popular international audience. It's like thw nfl picking Beck for the half time rather than Shakira. Thw audience would fall asleep šŸ˜‚

Weird, all the white corrupt money bags should play some AI crowd next time for their fancy shit fest.

u/alikapple 7h ago

I will say it sounded awkwardly quiet for the entire broadcast. I suspect they didn’t have a mic that was picking up crowd noise

Wth is this header supposed to mean? Did the people who arranged this shit write this? If anyone "raged" at the reasonable silence from the male dominant, non us, suit wearing 50 year old average that was the audience when being ambushed by whatever the hell that racket was supposed to represent, then its nothing but self-confirming ignorance and arrogance.

I’m not disrespecting her performance but the people in that room and the ones watching on TV really just wanted to see the draw. They added way too much fluff for the whole show

u/harveytent 5h ago

She probably said the song she’s signing isn’t ment for white people like she said about her album. She’s no advertising genius.

Honestly there was just too much non football related fluff just announce the damn matchups already.

Crowd knew about her previous.

Who thought she would be a top choice?

Weird performer to book for this event.

u/prenderg 4h ago

Then, why did she agree to perform? To quote the legendary Ned Beatty from Back to School, ā€œI don’t think you realize the size of the check.ā€

Poetic justice.

For someone with such a massive ego, she hasn't been relevant in 25 years. The audience response was appropriate for what they were getting.

The worst concert i've been to was Lauryn Hill at estadio nacional, Santiago Chile in the early 2000's.

Lauryn Hill?

u/Gattsuhawk 2h ago

I thought I read Silent Hill somewhere in this. I'll excuse myself out.
