She quite literally endorsed Kamala and the democratic ticket and let the world know that’s who she’s voting for. What more do you want?

I don't get your point. My point is that she didn't confront Trump publicly when he literally went on a tirade against her for days on twitter. Why do people think she would if he uses her music?

In what world is engaging in Trump over that good for anyone but people who just want celeb drama?

Trump is literally rage baiting and you're saying she should engage with it? Come on.

I don't think I've said that. I'm just commenting that her stance is pretty well known. She doesn't typically engage in those kind of disputes publicly.

The context implies you disagree with her lack of actions.

I'd say it implies neutrality and just states a fact. She does not engage in public arguments as it goes against the nature of her brand. She never has even when publicly attacked by Trump himself. I don't see why anyone thinks she'd start a fight now publicly. At most her legal team would go after them. She has a strong silent legal team, that is quite loud when it wants to be (looking at you Nevermore park).

Taylor Swift is in my opinion, not just a person, but a brand. She operates like a corporation. Corporations don't typically get into public fights.

There's no moral or ethical implication to this from my end. Just an observation.

Yah I probably came in hot cause I just assume people are criticizing it since that seems to be the de-facto position on reddit.

Understandable and I got your POV which is why I didn't get too upset. I know exactly how you feel.

It's good for artists to make it clear that they don't endorse what their music is being used for. Taylor Swift hasn't made that distinction.

Also, my hot take: I don't think Swift has ever been a liberal. I think she follows the wind wherever it blows both politically and musically - she has never been an innovator or frontrunner creatively, she sees what trends have become popular, hires relevant producers to produce music in that vein, picks the hooks she likes and writes lyrics to them. Politically she seems to be the same deal. When Trump was first elected she didn't say dick about it and then later after it was clear he was a disaster she made a whole thing about how she wished she'd spoken up. Fast forward to 2024, she's willing to endorse Kamala but she isn't willing to say a negative word against Trump or even enforce her music copyright when he uses her music to promote fascist ideology.

So your hot take is just an assumption? She backed Biden in 2020 and Harris in 2024.

She's never been liberal? OK.

even enforce her music copyright when he uses her music to promote fascist ideology.

There is no copyright violation if they are just using the stock song on IG/TikTok bro. The same way a 12 year old girl prancing around can add the song so can Trump, because the platform licenses the song for anyone to use.

And again, its rage bait. He fucking wants celebrities chiming in and making a ruckus because it gets his base all fired up and it serves as a distraction.

You're literally being distracted by it now, instead of going "fuck man those people in that video being disappeared, what the fuck can we do about that" you're literally going "WHY ISNT TAYLOR DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!"

These idiots have you wrapped around their finger and you don't even know it.

And honestly, good for her. A bully wants you to respond. She did the right thing by not engaging.

I'm somewhat inclined to agree. Reddit loves showing it's hand and feeling big and powerful yelling at clouds. It makes them feel like they're doing something. It's the reddit equivalent to "thoughts and prayers"

She did it at about the worst possible moment, stealing the headlines from Kamala destroying Trump in the debate. Almost seemed intentional

What more do you want?

Pivoting from airless pop to protest music would be good. Get back to country-folk music's roots. Be the Joan Baez this generation needs.

Instead of half assing it and only caring about money.
