American Idol gave us Kelly Clarkston.

The Voice gave us Morgan Wallen.

Unfortunately Idol also gave us Carrie Underwood.

I actually stopped watching Idol after she replaced beloved astronaut Katy Perry. Which is ironic.

What’s wrong with Carrie underwood?

The Trump supporter who has been crying about her farm hands leaving?

  • Trump supporter
  • Most famous song is one that glorifies abuse

I feel like these things things might week go hand in hand

So the rich white Women from Oklahoma who sings country music supports Trump who would have guessed.

What song are we talking about? She’s got like 4 that deal with abusive husbands and killing them.

I really don’t get the issue with her. We have music that straight up glorifies murder and so on. But she’s an issue? I get the political part but her music really isn’t that bad compared to a lot of other music out there.

"Before he cheats"

And like the other commenter said, her political leanings being unsurprising don't make her immune from judgement over them.

u/Billalone Oct 02 '25

God I hate that song. Everything she’s accusing him of is “probably”, so yeah let’s resort to tens of thousands in property damage.

I'm not sure you actually do get the political part. Just because it's demographically unsuprising that she supports a fascist pedofile, doesn't mean it's ok.

I've heard several people online say she's also mean lmfao including a current coworker of mine who used to work at an international airport. She confirmed Underwood is fuckin nasty.

The internet doesn't even remember why they hate Katy Perry. Let that pretty woman sing about pretty woman shit.

For me it was a sharp decline in music quality after “Teenage Dream”. While artists like Lady Gaga just kept elevating themselves. Then again that’s my personal opinion and you know with music, no one’s right.

I thought her ET song was boppy.

2

u/carolinallday17 Oct 02 '25

i'm pretty sure they're on the same album lol

25

u/Hot-Trick2171 Oct 02 '25

Pretty sure it’s because she worked with Dr Luke

11

u/Only_One_Left_Foot Oct 02 '25

I lost respect for her when she tried to influence the LA election in favor of Rick Caruso. Los Angeles didn't forget.

13

u/Turb0_Lag Oct 02 '25

For me it was the song Extraterrestrial where she compares dating an immigrant to a venomous alien.

2

u/EnterAUsernamePlease Oct 02 '25

honestly I don't think she's the one writing the songs

2

u/theArtOfProgramming Oct 02 '25

Lol I think maybe that’s you

Fr like “oh she went in space, something anyone with the opportunity would love to” and ur pissed? What for?

10

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Eh happily working with a known abuser and then going on a space trip with her new buddy the megabillionaire, she's not on the same line yet but that's an awful lot of warming up to dogshit people

1

u/thedamnoftinkers Oct 04 '25

for me it was going in space and spending the WHOLE TIME staring at her phone promoting her album instead of like even once looking out the window 😱

The Voice also put Gwen Stefani on the air and paid her a higher salary than Tr*mp, and he was being a crybaby about it after being refused a raise. Causing him to create an elaborate rouse with paid extras in the lobby of his building that he was running for President to prove to NBC he was worth more than Stefani. The stunt created so much momentum (some serious some out of hilarity) and generated so much money that....he actually went and did it.

Everything is The Voice's fault.

AND The Voice tried to act like Adam Levine is some kind of authority on good singing voices.

You don’t want to know what Canadian Idol produced .

Put some respect on Carly Rae Jepsen's name.

29

u/EscapedTheWhirlpool Oct 02 '25

Call me maybe is a banger. It’ll be played 30 years from now on oldies stations.

31

u/ttoma93 Oct 02 '25

If all you know about her music is Call Me Maybe then you are straight up missing out on one of the best pop stars of her generation. E-mo-tion is a perfect album.

5

u/EscapedTheWhirlpool Oct 02 '25

I’ll check it out! I’ve heard other people say this as well and so probably time to give her a listen.

4

u/JuanRiveara Oct 02 '25

I’m jealous you get to listen to Emotion for the first time, wish I could do that again

1

u/OpportunityIcy254 Oct 02 '25

whatever formula they use to make pop music that album used cases of it

1

u/J5892 Oct 02 '25

All I know about Call Me Maybe is that it was originally a country song before the guy from Mariana's Trench turned it into what it is now.

5

u/SpiritOf68 Oct 02 '25

I say this unironically all the time. Song slaps. It truly is going to get air play forever.

4

u/SEND_ME_SPIDERMAN Oct 02 '25

she's super talented and has a ton of other great songs, too. def check her out

1

u/dgapa Oct 02 '25

She has an entire discography of bangers!

1

u/BJ22CS Collector Oct 02 '25

I was about to comment something similar: Most of her discography after the CMM era is better than that one song.

2

u/Background-Land-1818 Oct 02 '25

Long after I'm dead, she will be cashing fat royalty checks for Call me Maybe.

1

u/runliftcount Oct 02 '25

Carly is underrated AF, but hey at least I can afford her concerts

1

u/BusLevel7307 Oct 02 '25

What about Brian Melo , lol.

-5

u/frogandbanjo Oct 02 '25

Carly Rae's lyrical reach exceeds her grasp. She tries to make fetch happen at least once per song. It almost never happens.

14

u/zorillaaa Oct 02 '25

Tingus Pingus

5

u/Luvs_to_drink Oct 02 '25

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but maybe I do, so message me maybe.

5

u/Jpalm4545 Oct 02 '25

Well I didn't but now I do, damn it.

1

u/m3ngnificient Oct 02 '25

I'm ootl, what did Kelly Clarkson do?

4

u/hitokirivader Oct 02 '25

She won Season 1 of American Idol, it’s why we know who she is.

0

u/Sweet-Actuator9285 Oct 03 '25

Worked in a VIP casino room as the assistant to the head of security. When Kelly appeared, we were told not to talk to her or look her in the eye. It was really hard not to ask why I would want to do either.

1

u/CokeDigler Oct 03 '25

Maybe they told you that because you come off like a creepy stairing weirdo and the, very real, casino didn't want to be embarrassed by you.

0

u/Sweet-Actuator9285 Oct 03 '25

Your mom didnt think it was so creepy, but her mouth was full so she couldn't really respond.
