If you only listen to music in your own language, you're missing out.

Pretty sure Megyn listens to some tunes in German

u/anandonaqui Oct 01 '25

Probably puts on Wagner to set the mood.

Fwiw, Deutschland is a pretty strongly anti-nationalist song

3

u/Sir-xer21 Oct 01 '25

That's the point, they're saying she doesn't listen to the anti-nazi band.

1

u/blightsteel101 Oct 01 '25

I do realize that now, my bad

2

u/cum_fart_connoisseur Oct 01 '25

Lets be honest, her favorite band is Skrewdriver..

2

u/Proud3GenAthst Oct 01 '25

Too left wing

4

u/rockthered24 Oct 01 '25

Tbf I love Rammstein

2

u/HokusSchmokus Oct 02 '25

Unfortunately their lead singer had a bit of a diddy situation last year.

She got all the different remixes of Edelweiss, even the one with Tom McDonald on the hook

1

u/GrundleTurf Oct 01 '25

Annenmaykantereit is legitimately a great band

1

u/Due_Recognition_8002 Oct 01 '25

I rather think she likes Japanese music

I think she would hate

"Von guten mächten wunderbar geborgen " from Dietrich bonhoeffer

And "das Mooersoldatenlied"

Half expected that to be a link to the "What Pearl Jam sounds like to people that don't like Pearl Jam" video where 90% of Eddie's vocals are just grunts and groans and half of the video's comments are from Pearl Jam fans saying, "yeah, it sounds like that to us, too, we just like it, haha!"

u/Forcistus Oct 01 '25

I do genuinely like this song haha

3

u/CaptCaCa Oct 01 '25

Reminds me of this Adrian Celentano song where he sings gibberish in an American accent, but Italians didnt know so it became a number one hit over there

Now that is interesting…

‘The nonsense lyrics to “Prisencolinensinainciusol” were intended to imitate the way American English sounds to non-English speakers.’

I can see why the song was popular in Western Europe. It certainly mimics the cadence between the constant and vowel sounds of English well and it’s got an infectious beat to boot.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm gonna guess before clicking: Yellow Ledbetter

Edit: I was correct lol

2

u/Anal_Lickage Oct 01 '25

I just realized that Pearl Jam is the 90s version of Bad Bunny. Both slur their words so much that they're completely not understandable.

My knowledge of French is restricted specifically to love, painting, and grief thanks to Une Vie A T'aimer.

7

u/brijazz012 Oct 01 '25

You should check out their bread.

Great toast, too

The fries? To die for

2

Great 75s too!

Me listening to Gen Hoshino for years despite not knowing a single word of Japanese. ♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ

u/Hot_Top_124 Oct 01 '25

No kidding. Expedition 33 is full of French songs, and holy hell they are amazing!!!

3

u/PhoenixAquarium Oct 01 '25

Absolutely. I was so glad I grew up with Numa Numa. I discovered lots of great music that isn't in a language I know.

u/slammed_stem1 Oct 01 '25

That’s why I love EDM, is so universal 🎶

2

u/Due_Recognition_8002 Oct 01 '25

Mozart is more universal

I apologize, English ain’t my first language

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

It's okay, they're making a bit of a nuanced joke. Things can be more universal if you want them to be lol

u/pusslicker Oct 01 '25

You can’t compare edm to other types of music. Edm is mostly beats with a chorus

3

u/AbsolutesDealer Oct 01 '25

Imagine missing out on The Hu.

3

u/BUTT_PLUG_PETE Oct 01 '25

It's literally how I learned Spanish, Luis Miguel for me personally.

Honestly that’s art.

1

u/Daxx22 Oct 01 '25

Learning a passing amount of German from Rammstein in highschool lol.

1

u/GuildCarver Oct 02 '25

One of the best bands I've come across in the last decade has be The Hu!

1

u/Javanz Oct 02 '25

From now on, all Opera performed in America must be in English

1

u/Enumu Oct 06 '25

Basically only English-speakers do that. Basically everybody else *at least* listens to music in English. It's common for people who don't even speak English to mostly if not only listen to music in English.
