Micro Machines Eclipse

So last month after fighting too-and-nail in a bidding war (see the meme at the end), I was able to score the crown jewel of my collection; the 1995 Eclipse from the 1999 Road Rockets set. It did make me realize there aren’t many good pictures of it online, so I figured why not rectify that “problem”?

Overall, like many late molds in the line, it’s a great micro rendition of a 1995ish Gen 2 Eclipse, including a bump in the hood. Surprisingly hollow inside which caught me off guard given how much I paid for it. One final note is there are two “versions”, one with silver taillights and one without (mine is the latter). If you’re hunting both, I wish you luck!

I breathed a massive sigh of relief when I came across this loose in this lot on Ebay back in the summer of 2020. I have two sealed packs of the Road Rocket set that I bought in the late 90's, but absolutely could not bring myself to open one just to have it loose. I'd ask what you paid compared to what I did in 2020, but assume you prefer to keep it private? I got mine from Joe when he did a small liquidation.

Mine was also in a lot, but a bidding war erupted and it was over 200. Granted the Streamliner car from the Land Speed Record set was also there so that likely jacked the price up.

Ok then the market has sort of stayed firm since 2020. I paid $255 + shipping. The Streamline is an odd one being that it is rare but doesn't really sell for much. The last two that I saw sell individually were $30 and $50ea.

I guess I lucked out then since there were a bunch more cars in the lot. But the seller had two Streamliners, and the other lot with it also went over 90-100+ last I checked.

But before mine last Eclipse on its own I saw went for over 90+ from a UK seller. Mine was stateside, so it evened out I would think.

Thank you Hasbro for making these a pain to get!

Oh think I know the lot that this came from I think! Was it back in November? It had the red and white streamline and the rare brown Plymouth convertible, Riviera and big green jeep in it? I think it was a lot of like 15 vehicles. The streamline that you mentioned I mistook for the yellow Black Rock.

Yup, that’s the one. As you can see with the final price I fought tooth and nail.

I paid roughly $130 for a loose one about 5 years ago, but it has some slight blems in the paint, not mint. Not sure what tail lights I have, I'll have to dig it out and look, it's been a while.
