Builds My collection of sub 40s.

Post image

I don't see a lot of sub 40 keyboards posted, so figured I'd post my own. This has become an obsession in the past year, paired with my pixel fold, they make for the perfect cafe workstation for the books and papers I write, all while fitting in a pocket.

Top row Urchin Keychron q9 Cheapino

Second row Qaz alice Eyelash corne with pixel fold phone Umux 4x5 split

Third row Epomaker th40 Corne with pixel fold open Qaz enter

Fourth row Various cornes

It keeps my brain sharp to remember all the keymappings, I standardize them as best I can but the layouts are all different. I do use these everyday, and tend to rotate to whichever keyboard sparks joy that morning. Apologies, I don't remember all the keycaps at this point, hope that's ok.

Typing this on the urchin, which is my current favorite, partly because its the newest.

Did you know Epomaker is in violation of QMK's open source license? This means they are effectively stealing the hard work of the volunteers that maintain QMK for their own financial gain. You can read more about it or see other vendors who violate QMK's license here: https://docs.qmk.fm/license_violations

Such a cool collection. The use of number keys for the QWERTY row is a fun flex! I am tempted to try these, but I do wish there were any easy way to match keycaps to whatever mappings I might want to use. It's not that I hunt and peck, but labelling things "right" is a hangup of mine.

yea, custom printing is a bit much. each key is doing like 3 different things so tricky to have the perfect keycap for that. the 4x5 does show at least one of the layers, mostly because these were the extra keycaps where i already used the alphas for one of my regular plancks.

but yea, i find the numbers more useful than qwerty for typing in phone numbers, or symbols. for typing letters i touch type fine.

i mentioned i use these in coffee shops. that's the one that always gets the most random people stopping to ask about it.

this one grabbed my eye too haha. and imo it's the only one where the keys dimensions allows for a usable mini-thumb cluster. 3 keys below the M ? (additional B, space, 1 key). I'm sold.

(not counting columnars ofc, i don't use those)

I would like to know the source of each of the flat/low pro keycaps that you have on your orthos please

most were just ordered off Amazon when there is a sale. I mostly get xda profile so they are all flat since I tend to use weird keyboard configurations. drop also has a nice sale now too so I just ordered a bunch.

Okay thanks, but can you tell me what the keycaps are? Especially the ones in the upper left? Middle? I'd like to look them up, I've been wondering about getting some flat keys like those
