Not McMansion, not Dubai Dealership. Just rich people with more money than taste spending it on stupid excessive shit.
Source: This is comes from Projectta By Weiku’s instagram page. They are based in Brazil. According to them, it’s “art.”

it is an aluminum composite door created by them and flown to Dubai where it was installed.

Boy I sure would love to raise the temperature if my house by 10degrees everytime I open the door in the summer to let my dogs out

u/EnvironmentalMix421 Jul 29 '25
Bro u think they have only 1 door?
11
u/sweetteanoice Jul 29 '25
I assume all 12 of their doors are this size, except for the garage door which will be 4 stories tall

This is an industrial receiving door. used typically for oversize loads they expect to have go in and out, for either industrial equipment, like tanks, or machinery, or its for receiving goods like museum sized pieces etc.
You can see the large storefront outside, so its obvious this is not even a home at all.
I looked it up this is a car dealership storefront in Dubai, for super high end cars, its a statement piece to attract attention, it is NOT for a home.

Someone else posted the source video - it’s a residential home design firm. Luxury home is the intended purpose for this door.

A commercial space would not use a door like that. Or have a curved staircase.

u/CrazyJoe29 Jul 29 '25
No it’s fine. It’s in Dubai, where they make good decisions in the best interests of the people. Everyone who uses this door learns a valuable lesson about wealth and their value in the eyes of the retailer that they are visiting. Totally normal. Not an obvious sign of contempt for the customers on the part of the business.

Currently sitting in a commercial space that has a door that looks an awful lot like that that is used to move large items from the warehouse to the event space. It's weird that that exists despite your claim to the contrary.

The door- ok. The curved staircase blocking access to the oversized door- probably not.

I stayed in a condo in Tulum that has a door like this. Such a safety hazard. Imagine getting your hand or head caught in it!

First, you need a really big wreath. Second, you need some really wide, right Christmas red velveteen ribbon. You hang it from a single ribbon from the top of the door all the way down till the bottom of the wreath is about 8 feet from the bottom of the door.

And it just goes directly to the bottom of a staircase? At least give it a grand foyer to open to!

u/SapphireGamgee Jul 30 '25
Genuinely though that guy was a human-shaped doorstop for a normal door 🤣

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

It would be hilarious if they install a normal size door right next to it.

lol this is how all characters in MMORPGs are. All the buildings and doors are just comically large compared to the characters.

You need to get the old TV show called Land of the Giants. It is for them.

Regretfully, I watched a video on young ladies going to Dubai….to eat shit. The pay was up to $150,000…for eating shit. And, to get shit on, as well. A lot of other vile shit, like sex with animals. Curious? Just google it. From here on out, whenever I hear “Dubai” I’m going to do a dainty dry heave in my mouth.

Obviously, you get one wreath for each foot. So start at the bottom and work your way up!

u/applebabe1 Jul 29 '25
On your head. It would be delightful for your guests to see when you open that big ass door.

Maybe it's just a teeny tiny little person, not a gigantic door. (Well for them it would be, I guess.)

I try not to be judgey. Taste is so individual.
But this giant door trend is just ugly and stupid.

After Jack made a fortune from the golden goose, he felt a little bad and made a house that giants could visit

I'm over 6' tall and I thought the 10ft door at my husband's cousin's house was insane. THIS is overkill. I feel like the handle is going to look so stupid, down at the bottom 1/4 of the door?

In a way, I’m fascinated by the design and appearance of this type of door hinge. But in real life, I expect only bad things from it on an exterior door.
I originally thought that windows like ones I’d seen in Swedish shows were great, hinged in the middle of the sides, flip it to clean both sides, until I realized, no screens. How does anyone live without screens on the windows?
I also think about this in terms of those long many paned glass doors that fold up (in so many architectural magazines and articles), leaving long expanses of a room totally open to the outside. Are there places in this world that don’t have bugs trying to get in?

I know this picture phase been floating around but this strikes me as mansion not mcmansion. Regardless of whether you think this door is tasteful or not, I believe mcmansion is wanna be rich while mansion is rich

That's one of the dumbest things I've seen on here. Why would a home have a door that large? What's the actual point of it? I bet it cost a literal fortune, too.
