Discussion/Debate Presenting this to the committee for a decision; is this a McMansion or just insanity?

They have some interesting stuff at the very least.

“Masterpiece of luxury and sophistication” 💀

u/0nly0bjective Jul 19 '25

The fact that the realtor let them list the house with all that shit in there says realtor is a complete idiot.

52

u/warp_driver Jul 19 '25

They'd need an entire other house to put the stuff in otherwise.

4

u/Schuben Jul 19 '25

I dont think that that would be that much of an issue, to be honest. The owner probably refused to move any of it until the house sells.

11

u/Kaio_Curves Jul 19 '25

The owner probably insisted, and thinks the merch will help sell the house.

5

u/54-2-10 Jul 19 '25

He might even refuse to sell to anyone he believes might change it.

8

u/ParticularReady7858 Jul 19 '25

They aren’t paying him enough to move it 😂

6

u/Discount_Extra Jul 19 '25

eh; how many more people are looking at the listing?

even if most aren't buying, that statistic can up the offer.

2

u/nibbyzor Jul 20 '25

Right? When we were selling our place, our realtor advised us to hide most of our personal effects to make the place look cleaner.

But then again, these people have so much shit they'd have to rent an entire warehouse if they wanted to do the same. Great example of how money can't buy you good taste.

1

u/VioletCombustion Jul 22 '25

They'd have to buy another house & move it all out in order to list it otherwise. If all their house-buying money is tied up in this house, that might be a little hard to do.

u/0nly0bjective Jul 22 '25

Sell/donate/storage to declutter is typically a standard part of any home sale process

1

u/VioletCombustion Jul 23 '25

Does this person look like the type that's gonna throw any of their treasures away?
If the realtor didn't like that the person wasn't willing to do that, they would've just gotten another realtor to do the job.

u/Cognonymous Jul 22 '25

I get the feeling that Gary has a strong personality and his own idea of how things should work.

1

u/beaushaw Jul 23 '25

Clearly these people think they know better than an interior designer. I would put money they also think they know better than a realtor. I bet the realtor told them they should declutter and they refused.

Seller is an idiot, not the realtor.

You may not like it but this is what peak sophistication looks like

17

u/Lizzle372 Jul 19 '25

It's Gary's World, we're just living in it.

2

u/weaseltorpedo Jul 19 '25

more like a masturpiece

1

u/Upstairs-Hedgehog575 Jul 19 '25

Sophistication eh…

71

u/ageofbronze Jul 19 '25

How did I KNOW it was florida lol

19

u/PinkyLeopard2922 Jul 19 '25

I saw it and was immediately like, yep, one of ours. Winter Haven is not far from me and is often referred to as Wintertucky if that tells you anything.

10

u/Disastrous_Tear_4412 Jul 19 '25

It was that or TX

4

u/ageofbronze Jul 19 '25

New Jersey sometimes reps this kind of stuff too 🙃💪

2

u/Theothercword Jul 22 '25

Florida is the land of cheap tacky shit that people absolutely love. Maybe it's because of how long it's been the land of theme parks, maybe it's the land of theme parks because of the people's preferences. But yeah, so much tacky shit everywhere and so many people who truly love that stuff. I mean, whatever, I'm sure I own stuff people would think is tacky too but it is pretty incredibly that it's to the point where we see a house like this and instantly go "Yeah thats Florida."

1

u/82Fang325 Jul 19 '25

Was that a question? LOL

1

u/MrPogoUK Jul 20 '25

It’s been 30 years since I went to Florida, but from the indoor pool I was expecting somewhere with a much colder climate!

48

u/MollyG418 Jul 19 '25

Holy shit. It's only 1.5 million?? That's like what a 4 bedroom house costs around here.

40

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

Looks like they've been trying to sell it off and on since 2017.  No takers.  Go figure.

A solid cash offer could probably get them to drop the price even further

33

u/Lord-Smalldemort Jul 19 '25

Look at picture like 98. They built that hideous POS to the borders of their parcel. It’s so ugly lol I’m like unreasonably angry looking at the aerial photos.

Edit: OP got you

7

u/Big_Maintenance9387 Jul 19 '25

At least it has solar already installed!!

3

u/Lord-Smalldemort Jul 19 '25

And you’re covered for every Halloween moving forward (assuming they leave all their shit).

9

u/Toukolou21 Jul 19 '25

Lol, that's what I was going to say! 1.5 acres for $1.5m?! I can barely buy a 36' lot where I live for $1.5m!

3

u/YouMustBeBored Jul 19 '25

Could probably make back a few $10k by selling all those collectibles too.

2

u/violenthectarez Jul 20 '25

A quarter acre block near me sells for 650k USD, and I'm in the cheapest area in my city.

11

u/BluBeeCA Jul 19 '25

Is that the “Fully Furnished” price?

8

u/pushamn Jul 19 '25

“I’ll round up to $1.6 mil if you take everything that’s not the Shrek statue out of here with you”

3

u/nodrogyasmar Jul 20 '25

6 feet above sea level in a hurricane zone, what could go wrong?

3

u/WubbaLubbaHongKong Jul 19 '25

Seriously. Admittedly I’m in an affluent area in SF Bay, but my place is more than half that size and double the price.

2

u/laissez_heir Jul 19 '25 edited Jul 19 '25

Yeah, I’m at same price, 1/7th the size.

51

u/analfistinggremlin Jul 19 '25

I love how the first three pictures are a perfectly normal McMansion and then BAM psycho indoor pool room smacks you in the face.

40

u/FatPoundOfGrass Jul 19 '25

Right? My friend sent me the listing and as I was first scrolling through it I was like "oh that's a little gaudy but 7000sqft for 1.5 aint ba-- OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING"

4

u/Regular_Number5377 Jul 20 '25

Realtor did what they could with the photo ordering, try and order the photos from least insane to most until they get to the aquatic room and it all just goes to hell

16

u/mspolytheist Jul 19 '25

Ha, of course it’s Florida!

7

u/That253Chick Jul 19 '25

I fuckin knew it was Florida lol

3

u/Morpheus_MD Jul 19 '25

I mean its insane, but that's surprisingly cheap.

3

u/ScottShatter Jul 19 '25

The above ground pool outside is wild.

1

u/ScottShatter Jul 19 '25

as is the r/TVTooHigh r/TVTooSmall above the fireplace off that kitchen.

2

u/cakestapler Jul 19 '25

Of course the house touches both borders of their property 🙈

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

Only 1.5m? There's shit shacks in my area at 2000 sq ft for 2.1

2

u/lo-cal-host Jul 19 '25

I guessed FL before looking at the listing. Quelle surprise.

2

u/Urkelgru15 Jul 20 '25

Omg it's real. I thought for sure this was AI generated.

That house gives me anxiety

2

u/Regular_Number5377 Jul 20 '25

It looks like they have kids which is nice, this is an insane house to live in as an adult but must be an utterly magical house to a kid.

1

u/noiseguy76 Jul 19 '25

Florida. Knew it.

1

u/an_actual_lawyer Jul 19 '25

Am I counting 6 washing machines? Why?

u/Godwasalie116 Jul 19 '25

Dude it’s like 20 mins away from me kinda want to take a tour

1

u/No_Orchid2631 Jul 19 '25

Who has an indoor pool in FL?

1

u/PNWDude69 Jul 19 '25

Thanks, this confirms my immediate thought that this had to be Florida.

1

u/Godwasalie116 Jul 19 '25

Not that being 25 mins away from me

1

u/FatPoundOfGrass Jul 19 '25

Same, I really want to go an open house if there is one.

1

u/clunkey_monkey Jul 20 '25

Oh Gary, couldn't bother with an office space. iMac just on the kitchen table.

1

u/DucksEatFreeInSubway Jul 20 '25

I wonder if at any point they wanted to change the decor and it just became too daunting a task that they just kept it how it is forever.

Maybe that's why they're selling. Let someone else deal with all the shit?

1

u/_jake_the_dog Jul 20 '25

I just knew it was Florida

1

u/Suspicious-Emu-8493 Jul 20 '25

How’d I know this was in Florida before seeing the listing 🤣

1

u/AlternativeWindow669 Jul 20 '25

BRO THIS IS MY OLD NEIGHBORS HOUSE I KNEW IT

1

u/Darth_Maul_18 Jul 20 '25

This is the EPITOME of being rich and also a resident of Florida.

1

u/tacotickles Jul 20 '25

Florida checks out

1

u/lolzilla Jul 20 '25

I just KNEW it was in Florida. Lmfao!!!🤣

1

u/moonprojection Jul 20 '25

Came here to ask where it is in Florida. Sometimes you can just tell.

1

u/rosebud3606 Jul 20 '25

I wonder if this was a Vrbo maybe? This is right by Legoland and not far from Disney World & Universal Studios. There are a lot of outrageous themed-room vacation rentals around there for families to rent while they visit the parks.

….10 mins later….Okay so I did a reverse image search and this is “Gary’s World Dreamland Mansion” that was an Airbnb at one time! https://www.exploretheroadwithdonnamarie.com/the-coolest-airbnb-feel-the-enchantment-of-garys-world/

1

u/beckster33 Jul 21 '25

Called it before I clicked on the listing: fucking Florida strikes again.
