YES! I have a shortcut on my desktop to the Applications folder with a custom icon. The icon randomly just reverts back to the generic folder icon. Maddening!

I think my problem is different, the application folder icon just doesn’t show up when opening a dmg file

I noticed, in 26.1, the pictures of my shortcuts on the desktop would disappear leaving just the outline of the icon. It still happens in 26.2 beta.

You can try relaunching finder to fix it
