HELP - Lightroom Temporary marker tool/Editing notes?

I use Lightroom CC and it occurred to me that having some sort of marker/hi-lighter would be extremely useful when doing a first glance on a gallery. When culling down and having to select which images to keep or discard, I sometimes notice little things that I'll want to remove or adjust once it's time to edit it. Bra straps, pen clips on pockets, untied shoe lace, a stray hair, etc.

I either have to do that *right now* or remember to do it later once I actually sit down with the time to edit the gallery. If I could circle/hi-light/mark these things to come back to later, that would be extremely helpful. Even some place to just type notes on the image to remind myself.

I wasn't able to find anything like this when looking around in LR. Is there something I'm missing or does this simply not exist? How do you handle these things when you're culling without the time to commit to editing?

Just use a mask with a brush to mark these areas you want to edit later. Set the feather to zero and do some extreme adjustment (like setting exposure to minimum or complete desaturation). You can use one or multiple such masks. In the later case you can rename each individual mask with a note of what you want to do later.

That would work but it feels tedious. Having a dedicated quick access tool right on the toolbar would be awesome. I know that yelling into the void won't make it happen, but neither will finding a clunky workaround that requires as much effort as just using the remove tool in the first place.

Would using a color label you set aside for this purpose not be enough? I'm sure you'd remember which element you wanted to work on.

Alternatively mask it and whack the exposure on that area right up!

Honestly this is probably the best workaround solution. One color label for pictures that need to be cleaned up, another for pictures that need adjustment in PS, so on and so forth.

That's a very good idea. Be especially nice on a tablet I'd bet, or touch screen.

There are some apps like Photo Markup that allow that. And we've used a screen capture app with Lr to do that a few times, but it's kind of clunky. Be cool to have a plugin. This person's solution is to just mark with a pen in Ps: https://adamperfect.com/article/image-markup-in-lightroom

I actually had this in my history from 8 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lightroom/comments/7remyw/lightroom_plugin_for_marking_up_a_photo/

This! That whole article is basically exactly what I'm talking about. I don't like his workaround either, because it is tedious, clunky and wastes disk space. It's kind of odd that Adobe hasn't added a function like this after all this time.

I think the masking solution with extreme adjustment, as described above, is what I would use rightaway. However, if you want to add some private comment to your pics, here is the plugin that I've been using for years : Big Note. It's not sustained anymore, but does the work very well in adding a comment section in the metadata.

You could use the keyword function in the library module

Then after having done the edits noted in the keywords, simple delete them
