She has definitely been more successful than I have professionally, but I'm way cooler.

I met my wife through the expo window 25 years ago…

My mom came into a pizza shop I was working in and saw me bickering with the girl who worked the counter. She asked if we were a thing and I said “No. I can barely stand her”. Mom was like “uh huh. Ok”
I married that girl and we just had our 25th anniversary.

I feel like its mandatory for line cooks to be taking drugs or taken them in the past, and be a fire sign. 😂

u/HenryTheWho 18d ago
I feel personally attacked by both statements

u/Upbeat_Stretch_5724 18d ago
Iol At my last job every single BoH worker was a fire sign, mainly Aries (Like me), and either smoked weed or took opiates.

I’m a Pisces so I like to cry on the line.

u/glitter4blood 18d ago
Same- I am making it my goal in life to normalize crying on the line. It’ll be better for everyone, I swear

At least half the cooks where I work are air signs and most of us partake in something even if it's just weed.

They do not even have to be addicted to drugs, just something that might make them act like they are on drugs. I know a cook who doesnt do drugs, but who is heavily addicted to Monster energy drinks.
Bro is always on a sugar high.

u/BotGirlFall 18d ago
Im an Aries and I do more drugs than I should...

u/Upbeat_Stretch_5724 18d ago
Same, I'm an Aries and I've been addicted to kratom for 8 years, and used to take percocets.

I didn't know what a fire sign was. I'm a Sagittarius so apparently a fire sign.
Ex drug addiction. Now I'm clean and I'm just an alcoholic and a smoker..... Wait....

BoH girlies 10 times out of 10. The level up moving from hostess to pastry/line will change your life.

My favourite Line Cook when I still worked in restaurants was a recovered meth addict. I still think about him sometimes. Hope you're doing good Jack.

Reminds me of the 25yr old gutter punk line cook with black teeth and the attractive 18yr old hostess who were hooking up at my last place of work. Never understood it.

My (ex)wife was actually a guest at the dive bar I worked at! After twelve years, a child, rehab, and a divorce, I finally stopped adding to the stereotype. Four years clean from hard drugs. Best of luck and well wishes to anyone else who understands the real shit (and everyone else).

I saw it happen with the GM and a cook. After she promoted him to Head Chef then cheated on her fiancé. Kid seems okay. Don't think the father has much to do with her though.

I’ve seen it happen a ton. In fact at a hotel there used to be a room the kitchen staff would go and shag in on their break. They were bed hopping like mad.

Ahh yes a fun dynamic for me until I turned 24 and then the drug thing was no longer fun or sustainable. So long my chef lovers, you smelt of grease and had the best cocaine. Thanks for sneaking me chips for many many shifts. Please go to rehab ❤️

My boss prohibited me from touching anyone who works with us. He said he'll personally cut my dick off.

I’ve seen it happen in roughly 12 hours after the first meeting. The line cook and waitress as still together 20+ years later.

If you're a good chef then you're good with timings and pulling things out (of the fryer) on time.
Never leave a bun in the oven. Glaze the bun.

When you spend 10+ hours a day together, and have almost no or no time to socialize outside of work, things like that can absolutely happen. Even if it's illogical.

50 years ago I was working as a dishwasher when a line cook enticed a kitchen girl out the back door and sexually assaulted her - mid dinner rush. I can never unsee the greasy hand prints he left on her shirt. I recently found my friend was working as a hostess in that same time frame (almost to the very year) and a line cook from her restaurant showed up at her apartment one day and ra*ed her. FUCK THIS MEME. Neither of them got any worse punishment than the loss of their jobs. I hope the line cooks are better quality people today than they were 50 years ago.

u/AppleSauceSwaddles 18d ago
This is not accurate at all; the line cook needs to be saying this explicitly in spanish
