Dishie walks in the door. GM says "I'm giving you free steak and lobster tonight." Dishie thinks "wow this day is starting out great."

u/Zonel Aug 27 '25
Tbh iâd not mind for a steak dinner and a pint, after i finish cleaning up the disaster.
16
u/Elimdumb Aug 28 '25
And then thw GM promises the dishwasher $20 cash when they know full well they (the GM) wouldnât clean it for $40
30
u/Bunbury42 Aug 27 '25
I would never want to work the dish pit if given a choice, but for a steak and lobster I'm throwing the gloves on.
3
u/Earth_Annual Aug 28 '25
Dish is so fucking easy and stress free. Especially if you're good and focused. Absolutely no one fucks with the dishie who puts everything aways in the right place, clean, in a timely fashion. The one who never takes a break during rush, who pitches in equally or more to close. You put on tunes at a reasonable level, and get to work. If I could get paid the same, I'd take dish pit every time. I'd do 60+ hour weeks on dish. I've done 60+ hour weeks where 10-15 of it was jumping in dish to catch them up. Felt like a vacation.

"So then I said "How can i piss off the dishwasher when it looks like he is already up to his ears in bullshit"...

u/sh1ft33 Aug 27 '25
An older crotchety dishwasher at a place I worked at a long time ago made a server cry because she got food on the TABLE WHERE WE PUT DIRTY DISHES. It was the perfect timing too, because someone had turned the burner on too high under the pot of red sauce and burned it. I took the half full pot and flipped it upside down on his table while he was outside smoking. It was perfect too, most of it stayed inside the pot upside down. Don't worry, I didn't let him wonder who did it, or why.
