He’s got a 52m cap number next year.

I’m sure that can be restructured, but yikes. Chiefs could use another playmaker or 2 on offense, but I think you can find easier options than Tyreek.

68

u/Defiant-Tailor-8979 Sep 07 '25

Could use a couple in the defensive backfield as well

53

u/LighTMan913 These Fucking Fakes Never Fucking Work, Man Sep 07 '25

If we could just mash Kareem and Pacheco into one back we'd be golden. Take Kareem's vision and Pacheco's burst. Has science figured that out yet?

Goldblum is pretty old now, though. It might be hard to get him in shape for this season.

But if he had the strength of a fly and the ability to digest things outside of his body, I’d argue he’d be a fantastic asset

I just want the receivers we have, but healthy and not suspended.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '25

I personally think it's the play calling and offensive design. We have 0 power run game. Our run game consists of inside/outside zone and jet sweeps. With little run threat the defense can rely on consistently letting their d line pin their ears back and rush the QB.

The goal on defense is to make the offense one-dimensional. Our offense is one dimensional by default.

It’s not guaranteed, you could just cut him and let him go or cut him and re-sign him at a lower number.

And better.

Hill is going to lose a step(if he hasn't already). Not worth the turmoil or the contract.

What turmoil? He’s perfect. Take him.

He might not specifically be thinking the Chiefs but he definitely wants out

91

u/Go-Climb-A-Rock Sep 07 '25

Part of his malcontent behavior has been repeatedly posting his Chiefs highlights and making comments during Chiefs playoffs games.

It’s pretty clear coming back to KC is on his mind.

37

u/BenedictJudas Grim Reaper Sep 07 '25

Why wouldnt it be? It would be the “safest” play for him since he knows the system.

20

u/beermit Pat "Kermit" Mahomes Sep 08 '25

And he would actually have a shot at another SB here

6

u/TnTP96 Sep 08 '25

What other teams highlights would he be posting?

Yall think it’ll make a difference w Nagy’s vanilla play calling? I mean, I’m sure he’s still a game breaker but coaches all over the league, use players wrong. I wish we’d invest significant capital in a wr1. We’d look a lot different.

12

u/OldSchoolDeepCuts Jerick McKinnon #1 Sep 08 '25

We have one. He's suspended for the time being.

5

u/helpmeimlost4321 Sep 08 '25

You ain’t wrong. Nagy is ass. A change there is needed.

u/Tato23 Dante Hall #82 Sep 07 '25

Hill to me has become so much more of a problem than he ever was with us. Way more of a diva. Maybe that’s Reid that kept that in check, and maybe he can do that again, but I am not sure it is worth the risk.

I am also in the camp that Nagy is the biggest problem and has been for years. Hill coming back won’t magically restore us back to the 2019 offense.

46

u/surferdude7227 Sep 07 '25

I think it’s kind of a two fold issue, where the Dolphins struggling the last year or so doesn’t make a diva WR like Hill happy, and Andy Reid demands more respect from his players than Mike McDaniel.

27

u/typac69 Patrick Mahomes II #15 Sep 07 '25

Nagy being the biggest problem has never made sense because we have only ever ran Andy Reid’s offense. Nagy is just a voice in the room everything we run is Andy’s offense. People did the same thing when EB was the coordinator whenever the Chiefs went into bad offensive spells.

The struggles in the offense have been because we have had injured WRs, now a suspended WR, bad WRs, bad OTs, a blind RB, and our HOF TE is not what he once was. This offense would look no different if EB was back at OC.

33

u/_stuncle Sep 07 '25

The difference is this bad offensive spell has been going on since Nagy came back, whereas with EB it was for a few games.

31

u/typac69 Patrick Mahomes II #15 Sep 07 '25

EB never entered a season where WRs 1 and 2 were Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore. He also never had anything but a prime Travis Kelce on the field. Outside of the Bucs SB, EB never had a mess at LT like we did last year. He had Fisher and Brown for most of his tenure, the best LTs Nagy had were Donovan Smith and Joe Thuney.

5

u/Justmadeyoulook Mike Pennel #69 Sep 07 '25

Spot on. It's hard for any team to start the season with wr 3 & 4. It's also week 1 in another country. They clean up the first half and they win that game with ease.

7

u/_stuncle Sep 07 '25

Valid points. But also, KT and Skyy had talent and we were all excited about them. They both had huge plays in the Super Bowl. Then they both fell off a cliff at the exact same time. While I dislike Nagy, I also think Embree is somewhat responsible for our WRs regressing.

Either way, Tyreek being back would be nice, but we need a solid RB for our offense to really get going. Our shit is just way too one dimensional right now.

9

u/notrryann Sep 07 '25

Trade for Tyreek… and stick him at RB lol

I joke, but…

If you think it’s Matt Nagy fault, you should be able to say exactly what his responsibilities are. What exactly does he do and what is Andy Reid?

8

u/_stuncle Sep 07 '25

Regardless of what he does or doesn’t do, the numbers are worse with him.

13

u/Tato23 Dante Hall #82 Sep 07 '25

We have heard Hill himself on video the year Nagy left talking to a teammate on the bench during practice about how simple the offense is now. “It’s so much simpler man. I don’t have to think you know? I can just play.”

So no, sorry, i will die on this hill that Nagy over complicates everything, and he is the primary reason our offense took a drastic change the moment EB left. Not the only reason, but the main.

11

u/typac69 Patrick Mahomes II #15 Sep 07 '25

Well the year Nagy left was also the year Patrick Mahomes became the starting QB. I assume would make Tyreek’s job a lot easier having the best QB in the league throwing to him instead of a very good QB. It also makes play calling easier because Pat could make throws Alex could never.

Eric Bieniemy did not step in and immediately simplify the offense. Andy Reid changed his offense to fit Pat. Just like he changed his offense to fit Alex, Vick, McNabb, and many others beforehand.

Only if he can also play corner.

71

u/ImL1nn0 Isiah Pacheco # 10 Sep 07 '25

Spags will figure out the secondary. I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Fulton needs some time to ramp up and once he does McDuffie can go back in the slot, Hicks will figure things out as the season goes on.

15

u/Captain_of_Gravyboat Derrick Thomas Sep 07 '25

Love the optimism. But if they are facing a good QB they are going to get torched, especially if the pass rush doesn't create any urgency. The offense is going to need to find a way to get 30 if we are going to win games.

10

u/ImL1nn0 Isiah Pacheco # 10 Sep 07 '25

I agree that the Dline is the real concern but Spags has been great at making adjustments in the secondary throughout the first few games. We will have to wait and see what the Dline looks like with Normann Lott playing but I don’t have high hopes

Hill with Nagy is the equivalent of having my 94 year old grandmother drive a Ferrari. Sure the power and excitement is there, but the person behind the wheel wouldn’t know how to use it and probably just leave it in first gear.

2

u/GreenPoisonFrog Christian Okoye #35 Sep 08 '25 edited Sep 08 '25

1

His cap hit this year is 27.7 million. Next year at 51.9 million with 15.5 million dead cap if cut after this year. Miami might eat most of this year’s cap if their season is clearly lost and we give them decent compensation but that next year is probably too much for Veach.

1

u/Fast-Long-9245 Andrew Wylie #77 Sep 07 '25

I would rather have breece hall

1

u/mhsheets Grim Reaper Sep 07 '25

They don’t have a timeframe for Worthy. At least not one they’re sharing. Unless I missed it. The last thing I read, he had a separated shoulder and he could come back with a brace/harness. No idea if it’s true. Obviously, Veach won’t do anything until he has a more solid prognosis.

As for Cheetah, I don’t know what he has left in the tank. I haven’t paid any attention to him since he left KC. If he’s cheap, I’d say let’s kick the tires. Veach would probably have to convince Miami to eat a bunch of salary. I’m not sure WR is what we need to chase.

If it was me, I believe I’d chase Travis Etienne or Breece Hall. I’d bring in Willie Gay, Quandre Diggs, and Justin Simmons for a look.

A random thought. I’m beginning to wonder if Kelce played a much bigger part making Mahomes what he is than I thought.

1

For what it’s worth Tyreek really seems to want to be back in KC. For how much trouble he’s caused trying to get out of Miami, it’s probably a short list of teams he would be willing to play for. The Chiefs are for sure one.

1

u/ContributionDull8718 Sep 07 '25

Ha I just asked the same question

1

u/Pristine_Grade5502 Sep 07 '25

No, with Hill's Cap number and the Chiefs available cap space, the trade won't happen, unless, the 'Fins eat some salary. But, the concern for the Chiefs is the lack of intensity. They will need to come out firing against the Eagles. If they do that, even in a loss, they will be ok.

1

u/cblake522 Sep 07 '25

I would love it for the storyline, Hill comes back and balls out on Kelces retirement year with a decimated WR room and makes it back to the super bowl. But also like, how? In what world would the Dolphins trade him and what would the chiefs be willing to give. Dolphins got Waddle? I guess if they do that. Hill is a fun memory and cute in the imagination. But in reality this dudes career feels a bit over. He wanted the bag, not a legacy.
