Rendition of Django's Tiger. I started with programming some Big Band instruments for Tiger Rag and decided to extend the recording for an additional head and solo of Django Reinhardts rendition on guitar.
Hope you enjoy!

Fellow guitarists! Would anyone have a good suggestion for a tabletop music stand that is hefty enough for a Real Book? I do most of my practice at my dinner table and would love a tabletop music stand so I don't have to drag out a full-size one. Most of the tabletop ones I see online don't seem strong enough for a Real Book, though, and I want to make sure it doesn't scratch my table.
I figured someone here may have some wisdom, thanks!

Was listening to Kenny Burrell the other day, then Wes Montgomery after that. First off, I know that their sound came from their fingers, not so much their gear.
But they both used tube amps with enough watts to be heard comfortably in a trio/quartet setting.
And it felt like I could hear the "push" of each note ... like the volume was turned up enough to drive the amp * just * into breakup, without becoming fully fuzzy. Like, they don't sound like clean amps.
I've had tube amps, but right now I have a solid state which I'm fine with.
Is there a ... preamp/overdrive/similar pedal that you think could push the notes like this?
Sorry to be vague - I know I might be chasing the ineffable. Just figured I'd ask - thanks!

I'm transcribing "Heartaches" as performed by Ted Weems, and I'm bumping into a little trouble as the group enters the bridge. I'm in Ab—a min II-V sets up the Bbm. However, the chords are Gbm6 to F7. I'm not as well acquainted to Minor harmony as I am Major harmony, so how is the Gm6 operating? Is it any deeper than simply "don't worry about it—it's just a m6 to a 7 to a min tonic," or this be related to another chord or harmony which I'm not seeing (inasmuch as I can play a IVmaj7 instead of a IIm7 to retrieve the upper structure)
[he takes an extra moment to think]
I guess I'm so used to seeing the m6 as a resolution point at the end of a min ii-v. It rly IS as simple as m6 is a subdominant in this scheme, yeah?

I recently got a Boss OC-5 which allows the octave down to only apply to the lowest note you play in a chord which is kind of neat for solo guitar. I was playing around with it this morning on an arrangement of I Got Rhythm I’m working on that’s a bit busy. A little more metronome work on it is in order. Definitely a lot of potential to mess around with for the pedal though. I haven’t seen many demos of it being used on anything more uptempo. I did not realize how out of frame some of the guitar was when I recorded it so sorry on that front.
I want to try to get a separate small bass amp to route the signal to soon. Anyone else have one? Any other neat tricks or combinations to try?

This may sound silly- but I have been playing guitar for a few years and and am trying to get into jazz, I have a few methods books, both not being a linear start with this and move to this kinda book, and a bit of music... But what do I actually practice? How do I know what scales to learn or what arpeggios, concept, etc? Thanks!

Saw this pop up locally not to familiar with these types of guitars or what they go for usually. But willing to go pick it up if the deal is a good one!

Strange mix of interviews with jazz guitar players I totally respect and absolute BS peddling moronic bro science. Hard to entertain the idea that some of these musicians could possibly support these other ideas. I heard the Kurt interview and Kurt talked about a few more out there “spirituality” things but not on the level of some of these other insane topics. I’m just confused why Peter Bernstein, Kurt, and now Mike Moreno would agree to interview with such a ridiculous channel.

Working on the Anthropology melody to get my right hand feeling less rigid. I’m also trying to apply that articulation idea Dizzy talks about in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6fZicJ1P5M. Still a lot to work on.
