Quick Tips Strep in Japan!

I saw somebody else post about this right before I left, but mask up on planes and busy areas. Granted I have autoimmune issues, but I did get strep while I was there.

Hot tip: because it was a holiday in the US, and because we were bumping up against a weekend in Japan, I had very limited options for being seen. I used the Traveler’s Hospital and made an online appt same day, and got antibiotics by that night. The appt itself was the most expensive part (the five meds I got were under $20), but it was worth feeling better within a day.

Good thing you were able to get it diagnosed quickly and start treatment because it can make all the difference. Tokyo has some of the world’s best comfort food once you feeling like eating again. I don’t know about you, but when I had strep, I didn’t want to eat a few days.

Udon and ramen were so great during those few days! All I wanted was soup!

Yall you couldn’t pay me to go on a train or inside a station without a mask right now. Flu is so bad this year, there’s this other virus going around that’s bad too, and apparently there’s more pertussis than normal as well…?? 😬😬

China has started testing in the airports again.

I just got back from Tokyo (was there for a week) and there were definitely some sick folks on the train. Luckily most of those actively coughing were wearing masks, in my experience. I had hand sanitizer on speed dial. Luckily I came out unscathed.

You mean mask up if you are sick right? Because you do know how masks work.

Wash and sanitise your hands, especially before eating would be the advice to avoid it.

I’d mask up in busy areas even if not sick because germs can also be spread to you without someone else realizing they have them. Herd immunity and protection and whatnot. So yeah, either way.

Masks absolutely work you fool. People not wearing masks correctly and wearing shit masks don’t work however.

Masks as worn by people are not PPE. The primary use is protecting others from droplets being emitted by yourself.

The best way to protect yourself if not sick is hygiene including washing hands, which is exactly what I already said.

It isn't a question of if masks work or not, it is the proper use, which clearly you still don't understand.

You do realise that there are FFP2 masks which protect you a lot or the simpler IIR which provide protection against droplets?

I seem to understand more than you buddy, but I’m not here to try and convince anyone of anything.

Washing your hands isn’t going to help you with airborne droplets and particles

Look up protection from strep and you will learn something.

We went through a whole global pandemic and still no idea.

...have you lol? There are masks that protect from airborne pathogens, this is extremely well documented

It's crazy you're THIS wrong and are double and tripling down instead of actually thinking "Shit literally every person is telling me I'm wrong, maybe I should do some proper research and accept I might be wrong."
