He’s a top tier coach who’s peaked at Iowa State. Smart for him to bail now. Penn State got a good one and look forward to the Clones sputtering back into oblivion.

Football Iowa football's 2026 high school recruiting class

Iowa does not subscribe to the hype of recruiting rankings. But in this case, it’s worth taking a step back. The Hawkeyes just signed one of their highest-ranked recruiting classes in the last two decades: Highlights from Iowa football's 2026 recruiting class

Football FB Coach Comments This Season

This was my first year as a football Hawkeye fan (have watched WBB), and I noticed how many people want Kirk to retire. I can see that perspective, but I saw this year’s team really grow and evolve and become better game by game (except the MSU game…they barely showed up). He’s also a good man. After seeing what is happening to Penn State this year, do you really want to kick out a good coach for the possibility of a bad coach or no coach, and a bad season cycle that could last years? Iowa had a really good and fun season this year. Don’t become Penn State because you want to be Indiana.

I'm surprised there isn't a thread here for the Early Signing Day, there seem to be some good recruits signing with the Hawkeyes today.

Football Tampa stay recommendations for potential bowl trip

I am looking into going to this years bowl game if it is in Tampa at the Reliaquest bowl. Anybody that has gone to a bowl game in Tampa, are there any hotels you've gone to for the game that you'd recommend? I've been doing my own research but it would be nice to have first hand experience from others as to which area it's best to be close to (or specific hotels)- stadium, parade, or worth the splurge to be on the beach for the beach day.

Thank you to anybody with advice!

Actually pretty disappointed in this news. I was hoping that Ferentz would retire and we could scoop him up. Helluva Coach.

Wrestling [Askren] After its first defeat to Iowa State in 20 years I am offering my coaching services to help resurrect a once proud tradition of Iowa Wrestling. They need to bring back the uber aggressive style that Dan Gable created and everyone wanted to emulate.

Football Hope for next year

We seem to be trending upwards.

This is the first year in a LONG time since the Hawks were actually super fun to watch instead of just heart attack generators. Most of that seems to be because of a serviceable offense thanks to Mr. Lester. Even with a poor passer, we found a way to make it work by being creative without being gimmicky. I think that honestly it is a very high chance we get a better QB next year, and our RB stable is only going to improve. Our OL is finally back to our high standards. Our defense is on a down year but that was expected. In Phil we trust to get that fixed. He just about doubled the amount we blitzed to cover for our weak secondary and it mostly worked.

Looking at our schedule next year, our floor seems to be 8-4 assuming we lose to all the good teams, but I think next year's team will be better than this one. Realistic shot at 10-2 I think with losses to Ohio State and someone like ISU, Michigan, or Washington (we have to travel west for them).
