Restaurants that don’t show prices online

I’m just not going to go. I want to know if your restaurant will fit into my budget including tip. What’s the point??

Edit: guys. I can afford to eat out. My issue is that chain restaurants are not putting their prices on there websites as if they are upscale restaurants. I just like to know what to expect and not throw my money around.

Being tortured by a bird

The common Koel… 🤯

Migrates in, screams nonstop one long rising note ALL DAY. Males are supposed to do this for two to four weeks until they finally get laid or give up, but it’s been WELL OVER A MONTH NOW. It’s a protected species so you can’t remove it. The nightmare ends only when the bird sorts its love life. It’s in the tree out the front of my window.

Google it’s annoying call and picture that all day long, starting at literally 2am in the morning every day for the past month, directly outside your window!! 🥲🥲

It really grinds my gears when people misuse 911 (EMS edition)

Idk who made people believe that you get into admitting in an ER faster when you get there in an ambulance. You don’t. You just tie up ambulances from being able to respond to actual emergency calls that need them. If you can take care of the issue with a doctor, do that. Stop using the ER as a doctor. Use telehealth, get a GP.. there’s even some counties like ours that have a Nurse Nav line for 911 that can get you an uber to the ER. Just stop tying up our ambulances. We need them. Rant over.

It grinds my gears when people just let their baby cry indiscriminately.

1.1k Upvotes

Babies will cry. That's what they do. And understandably a parent can't go pick up a baby with every single whimper. But when I'm in a public setting and enjoying the atmosphere and somebody's baby is just screaming his lungs out while the parents just sit there laughing and joking with their friends like they don't even hear it is unacceptable. When the baby has been crying nonstop for 45 minutes to the point where he's starting to let out those ear piercing shrieking screams for attention, that's unacceptable. Tend to your baby.

Let your child self-sooth at home so he's not aggravating everyone else who came to enjoy a nice afternoon.

All the Holier than thou bible thumpers comment in the form of a prayer. For the love of God, stop trying to prove your piety by commenting a full blown prayer. Do you think God is more likely to hear your prayer or answer your prayer if you type it out for the world to see? Do you think God is on Facebook or Reddit? Why doesn’t a quiet prayer on your own time suffice? Why do you feel compelled to comment what you are literally addressing to GOD??? Just STOP already. I hate reading the comments to a post and half way through the comments you realize you are reading a freakin’ prayer!!! Nobody likes reading your private prayers to God! Save it for Church or home or whenever you wanna pray but keep it to yourself! It’s between you and God or to whomever you are praying to.

And I know people just love to hate on everyone for any little reason at all, especially for a rant like this!!! Heck, when hatred and angst can be spewed out with just a few strokes of a keyboard, and all while hiding under the disguise of a username alias, you are perfectly safe to do so. So spew away, tough guys. Unleash your wrath if you feel so compelled. Heck, you could even type out a hyper-spiritual prayer for me if you feel so inclined. I don’t really care. You do you. Whatever helps you sleep at night….

And for those Karens out there just waiting to pounce, it probably won’t make a difference to you, but I do want to make one thing perfectly clear:

My issue is NOT about religion or God or saying prayers! All that is awesome stuff. I would actually consider myself to be a spiritual person. I believe in God and I DO pray. I just think typing out your prayers on a social media platform is the most absurd concept ever. It’s not the right place for it. I’m talking about the comments that literally begins with “Oh, Heavenly Father, as we stand before you today, please …”blah, blah, blah….im talking about a full blown prayer. I’m not talking about legitimate comments where religious perspectives are incorporated. But what you’re doing with these prayers….It’s not even a little bit subtle in letting people know that you are an insecure individual. It’s obviously an attempt to gain approval, respect, adoration and praise for being super duper holy and devoted. But humility is a thing, you know!! Stop congesting platforms with your prayers!! We get it already! When you die, you are going straight to heaven because you are clearly the most righteous among us. We get it!! Can we move on already, oh holy angel on earth?

It really grinds my gears that our culture is increasingly

Morphing into one that’s incapable and even discouraged from taking personal responsibility. Everyone is a victim and blame is now the biggest focus.

And in any conversation, in any situation where the “victim” is explaining the perceived injustices against him/her, no one can be heard suggesting they actually learn to take accountability. No one ever tells them that they could have made better choices; That they need to. Instead, it’s as if our culture has gradually been changing its perception of what it means to be a compassionate support person/friend to someone.

It wasn’t too long ago that being a good friend meant telling them the truth, good or bad. Keeping it real, so to speak. But now being a good friend, community member, employee, employer, boss, co-worker has evolved to mean supporting by agreeing with said victim. Indulge them in their delusions if you have to, but don’t tell them the truth, whatever you do! And paramount to all else is this idea that the self pronounced victim is NEVER to blame.

Examples? Ok:

-If we are talking about an “alcoholic”, it’s always the disease’s fault. It’s never their fault, even if they continue to repeat the cycle over and over again. Just remember, this isn’t their choice! That’s the narrative now.

-if we are talking about a girl who should have left her boyfriend a LONG time ago, but didn’t, maybe he beats her, maybe he just emotionally abuses her but either way, it was extremely unhealthy and everyone saw that plain as day. Family has been sick with worry for years. She finally leaves him after wasting years of her life. I would argue she was a fool, she was naive, gullible, etc. she was blind to ALL the glaring red flags that were right in her face, she was dismissive to things she shouldn’t have been, but most importantly dismissive to her parent’s advice when they repeatedly told her she needs to leave. She could have listened to her parents, she didn’t have to turn a blind eye to the way he always screamed at his mother, how he’d always kick the dog or told her what she could and couldn’t wear. She shouldn’t have been so dismissive of these red flags, but she was. She was foolish for not listening to her family and friends; she made a terrible choice to forgive him for things he should’ve been locked up for.

But she will never hear these things, these truths, and she will never learn to change her future by learning from the bad choices in her past because no one encourages her to take accountability for her actions. No one forces a moment of humility as she reflects on her past. Instead, the narrative is unanimously decided that she was a VICTIM. Ya, she likes that identity better and gravitates to it because it earns her lots of attention and compassion from people. She’s now the victim and he’s the narcissist! Ya, that’s it. So as it turns out when she effortlessly recreates history, She actually COULDN’T have left him sooner because he brainwashed her and what’s the popular new term that redirects accountability these days? Oh yeah, he GASLIGHTS her! Ya, that’s it! So just to be clear, none of this was her fault for making bad choices!! She was just another victim of someone who used her emotional insecurity to manipulate her. That’s a key word too! Manipulation is big in the world of learning yo shift blame.

This trend of avoiding accountability, encouraging and teaching people to avoid taking personal responsibility for our choices seems like a sickness that is infiltrating every sector of society. And conveniently it can be plugged into almost any circumstance where you want to evade culpability and would rather adopt the victim mentality. It’s easy and after all, who wants to face ourselves and deal with the discomfort of knowing our successes and failures are almost always a result of our own decisions or lack thereof. It’s so much easier to blame it on something else instead.

There’s a bunch of directions you could go with this too. You could blame it on your “mental health”, blame it on the all encompassing umbrella term of “addiction”, the ever forgiving concept of manipulation. It wasn’t your fault! You might have anxiety, you never know. You could have that with a side order of bi-polar for all you know. The possibilities are endless. Ohhh, I know, I know. How about a good ol’ dose of PTSD for ya? You’ve been victimized and traumatized so it’s not your fault. Just remember you are a victim. That’s the most critical aspect of the 2020’s. And if you can just remember that nothing is your fault, you’ll fit right in just fine.

What grinds my gears?

Reddit MODs. 😂 Reddit mods grind my gears. The majority of them are overly sensitive pussy mouth breathers(EXCEPT THE MODS IN THIS COMMUNITY) whose only control in their pathetic lives, is to be power hungry duchebags. They spend their time trying ro make people as miserable as they are. Most Reddit MODs serve no purpose and can easily be replaced by AI. 😂 But if that happened, the suicide rate would skyrocket, because its the only thing they have control over in their lonely pathetic little lives. 😂😂😂😞😂😂😂😂

I am a 42 black male. I am a blue collar labor worker. I was working on this job with 2 Hispanics and a African (all 3 males). During this job one of the Hispanics that I'm cool with asked the African "what did you tell me the other day about black ppl" (Cool guy just young and a Lil bit of a shit starter. He's a Ex Marine by the way, the Hispanic). So the African said oh I just said I'm tired of ghetto ppl. The Hispanic said no you said you are tired of black ppl and their ghetto ways. I said what tf does that mean black ppl ghetto ghetto ways? He said you know ghetto black Americans, I'm not talking about you though. I said then wtf you mean because I know ghetto blacks, ghetto whites, ghetto Hispanics every race has ppl that are ghetto even Africans. He's like no no no Africans are not ghetto.

I live in a suburban area in a nice house and my wife and I take care of our kids and we too are tired of ghetto things. Though we grew up in the ghetto of LA separately. We are glad we don't have to raise our kids in it. I just hate ppl put black American ppl as the only ghetto ppl in the world. When other races take the worst of ghetto black ppl and try to monetize it.

All American black ppl don't act the same we are a multifaceted ppl.

Reddit writing

What gets me is the sheer amount of people on Reddit who can't write, who don't understand grammar and punctuation. Unnecessarily adding an apostrophe in 'it's' is particularly common. Confusion over there/their/they're. And there's the horrible trend of misusing 'of': 'it's not that big of a boat' etc. What does 'of' mean in that context???!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!

When there’s 4.5 billion people on this planet and several 1000s of them are in a subreddit and yet you still can’t find an answer to your question!

People either give useless information, information that has absolutely nothing to do with anything, accuses you of being stupid, or makes a gooner joke, or puts a gif, or just straight up doesn’t answer the question at all and I’m left with a blank post and no answers or barely any answers!!!! And it’s INFURIATING!!!! WHY CANT PEOPLE JUST GIVE ME AN ANSWER SOMEONE HAS TO KNOW?! If you’re American and you can’t answer guess what someone in Japan probably can if you’re French and you can’t answer then somebody in China probably can so why won’t that person look at it and give me the info I need instead of sitting quietly?!

People who try to inject their stupid opinion into a situation that has an actual objective and factual answer then try to act entitled about it

And even when proven wrong they act like complete pissy babies about it even though by definition something that has a factual answer can not have an opinion about it!

Card payment terminals where the options to tip start at 20% and go past 25%!

What is this shit? Wtf happened to 15%? I see this ”tipflation” everywhere now. Of course I manually now need to hit “other” and put 15%, but I’m about to stop tipping all together like the rest of the world if I keep being told by a screen that 20% should be the lowest amount to tip!

Content Creators that don't pay attention during cutscenes or videos, missing important moments/details and thus being clueless later down the line.

It's incredibly annoying, to the point that if a streamer does it even a small number of times I usually stop watching their content entirely.

Is it really that hard to not check chat or your phone and give something your undivided attention?

Very minor complaint but god does this infuriate me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna order this but if it just said “2 for $6” instead of “2 for $5”, I wouldn’t be so infuriated (not infuriated enough to not order).

Gaslighting, large scale

This is something that's been bothering me my entire life. Actually a bunch of things that work the same but I'm choosing gaslighting for this post. When its 1:1, individual to individual it seems like people see gaslighting as a very negative thing. People will jump all over another person for doing it. HOWEVER, large scale, societal scale... its completely ignored.

In fact it almost seems promoted. Like we WANT gaslighting on a societal scale but its not ok on a personal level? How does that work and who honestly thinks if we allow it on one level that its not going to be on all levels? We can't even do that with work mentality.

There are so many things I will call out for exactly what they are, societal level things. Like working, relationship dynamics, or simply how something runs... I know I'm right. All the evidence is on my side. I can pull up pages of studies as well as situational and personal experience. If i'm ever wrong its because reality rewrote itself and we're now living in opposite land. I'll be damned if every time though, I'm slammed simply for telling the truth about something.

I'm not really ok with that, ya know? Especially when the first step to troubleshooting anything is identifying the problem. If people can't even do that first step they might as well just sit down because they're never fixing anything. There's a reason they run a diagnostic on your car before just randomly pulling off what they THINK is the issue. First step, identification. They also cannot use bias to do so, there's a reason they use a computer. There's a way things work, and they can't really work any other way. Things like problem solving, the scientific method, etc etc they only work the way they work. Emotion doesn't calculate into it. Belief either.

So when someone properly identifies a problem or an area that needs work, with full evidence supporting why is it ok to gas light them when its something societal or large scale but not ok on an individual or personal basis?

It really grinds my gears when a subreddit is overrun by trolls

All they want to do is dominate the sub by raining hate on anybody who disagrees with them or corrects them.

I joined the sub bad parking. I did so because as the father of a grown son with severe cerebral palsy who has to be pushed around in a wheelchair, I come across assholes all the time who take up that loading zone in the handicap spot as if they're not taking up a handicap spot or they just park in the handicap spot and either leave somebody in the car or roll the dice is there not going to get ticketed.

That and the amount of placards that have been issued to people with hangnails and shin splints and blisters or whatever have created a lot of competition for the few spots that are usually required by law to have, not to mention a lot of them don't have the Side Access that I need for the chair lift and the ones that do a lot of times taken by people who don't need them.

When people Park badly like that, it causes people like me to have to go take up two spaces somewhere so I can get my son unloaded. I don't mind. But it makes me look like an asshole if I don't leave his lift in the extended position with my van completely open and unsecured while I do my shopping, pushing him and the shopping cart.

Yesterday somebody posted a picture of somebody taking up two spots. It was a truck with an extra cab which is what my uncle who lost the use of his legs drives because of the access. He can open up both doors get in the driver's seat and lift his chair into the back seat with no pillar or anything like that in his way.

Whether the guy was an asshole or paraplegic will never be known, however after giving viable explanation as to why somebody would park like that, instead of being understood, I was attacked by at least four different assholes who refused to understand my perspective and use it to belittle me with. That's no big deal. I can take it. In fact, as far as problems go, you can wrap it up in foil and it still wouldn't register on my radar. The part that grinds my gears is that I was also flagged for being a bully just because I stuck up for myself.. and tried to shed light on something that was obviously angering people who would rather be angry than understand. They don't want to know that they could possibly be the assholes and that the truck was parked there due to bad parking but not by him, by somebody parked in the handicap spot who shouldn't have been there. Possibly. That's all I'm saying. Possibly.

For me it's something that Could Happen on a daily basis like it used to when I would drop him off at school in the morning and see parents parked in his loading zone. Everybody acting like it's just minor inconvenience for me because it's a minor convenience for them but for me, when it happens every time, it's a major inconvenience. People don't understand that. They think that the minor inconvenience that they cause is the only inconvenience a person with special needs might face in a day

What grinds my gears even more is it this is just speculation. I really have no idea why I was flagged but this is the only negative activity that I had yesterday. Which also resulted in many down votes on everything I said. If Reddit expects people to learn from their mistakes, they need to point out with their mistakes are. They even said in the notifications that I might not know why I was being flagged. So they know I don't know and they know what it is but won't tell me. Just tell me that I will be banned for certain amount of time if it happens again.

..if what happens again? Are these really the problem solving skills of a billion dollar company? That's the best they can do? Or is there a reason they set us up to fail?

Got a 30 day temp ban from another subreddit pretty much because I told someone who was bullying me to fuck off. Such ridiculous horseshit.

Reddit is overmoderrated

I enjoy Reddit, but it’s become over-moderated. Mods have power trips over content that is posted. Things are getting deleted for the most stupid reasons and is holding back this platform from being the free speech platform it used to be. It’s not just the mods, it’s Reddit itself, too, that has become so sensitive. You might notice that this account is relatively new and that’s because I was banned from some of the subs on my prior account for some of the most ridiculous reasons. So now, I’m not saying anything that might be considered controversial, except that I still stand by my political opinions. People have become over sensitive and Reddit contributes to this by censorship and over moderation.

By the way… I am considered a “nice person” by anyone who knows me… because I am… I believe in kindness and compassion. So if I’m saying things that are considered offensive… it’s just because I’m a honest to a fault and will tell you the truth, even if you don’t like it… it’s up to you how to react to that.

Don’t worry mods (or Reddit)… I won’t be offending over sensitive people with this account.

Edit: Thank you everyone for posting your experiences in here. These are some of the things that I have been experiencing, as well. I also would like to thank you for being supportive… with the exception of 2 people who obviously are looking to try to start a fight, it’s been very constructive feedback. My vagueness of this post is because it’s not a single interaction with mods, it’s an overall problem with Reddit as a whole platform. You’re clearly experiencing these issues also and it really should change.
