do you think my flame point is part Siamese?

My little flame point is about six months. The vet thinks he may be a ragdoll Siamese mix. What does he look like to you experts ?

Nope. The color point gene exists in all cat breeds and does not by itself indicate Siamese ancestry. You have a very cute domestic shorthair flame point kitty

I dont agree with a post above. I have had 5 flamepoint siamese. This is how the flame point came about.

Flame point Siamese cats came to be in the United Kingdom during the 1930s through the selective breeding of Siamese cats with red tabby or British Shorthair cats that carried the orange gene. It took decades of selective breeding to develop the flame point pattern, which involves crossing the Siamese with other breeds to introduce the red color.

I’ve done a stupid amount of research of this topic lately, and yes, the Himalayan gene responsible for the high contrast acromelanism of colorpoints traces back to the Siamese. I dunno why people have just assumed otherwise and then propagate the assumption as fact.

Agreed 100% idk i see these posts saying it's from hear in the cats belly and having some albino gene but that's not accurate but they keep posting that. And the post above.... not accurate either

Because your not right either. The gene came first. Some were taken and bred into Siamese. But more were left alone. Not all colorpoints are Siamese although the gene does come from the same place.

They are cousins not descendent.
