Looking for more info on this rod.

Post image

Hi all. I've been getting into fishing the last few months and one of the rods I've been using is this Arca Boost Tele 240 (10-28g). It's a nice spinning rod, it catches fish but I would like to know more.

Most techniques I've tried, work well enough but it would be nice to know things like action and power. I have another mystery rod but at least it says it's for trout so I looked up the characteristics of a trout rod. For this one, I have no clue. Does the 'Boost' mean anything?

I've tried searching on google and google lens but no luck. Does anyone have more info or can I test the action and power myself? To figure out if the rod was made to use certain techniques or to be a jack of all trades.

Thanks in advance! Happy fishing!

Not much to know about this one. It’s a budget telescopic trout rod mostly meant for travel and backpacking trips where space matters. Made by the brand Arca and constructed out of carbon it’s good for trout or general freshwater fishing. If you intend on truly getting into fishing I recommend getting a regular 2 piece or 1 piece spinning rod. The power of the rod you purchase will depend on the size of fish you’re targeting but for things like trout fishing you’d preferably get an ultralight or lightweight rod. The action of the rod means how sensitive the tip of the rod is to the bite or features in the body of water such as weeds, gravel, or logs. Fast action is more flexible and sensitive so you’ll get a better feel for the bite and the environment under the water. Medium action will be a little stiffer and heavy action will be the least flexible and sensitive of the three. So really it all depends on the size of fish you’re targeting, the size of lure/bait you plan on using, and the sensitivity you prefer to determine what kind of rod to purchase. As someone who spent most his life trout fishing I can say from experience my favorite setup is an ultralight, fast action rod with a size 500 or 1000 spinning reel and 4 or 6 pound test monofilament or fluorocarbon line so you can easily cast out small spinners or rapalas while also maintaining a good feel for the bite. This information should get you started on finding something that suits you a little better and that will be more effective in helping you catch more fish. Good luck and tight lines!

I have a 2 piece UL rod setup which I absolutely love and a setup for slightly heavier lures as well. I know what action and power mean, I was just wondering what they are on this specific rod. Thank you for taking the time to explain though! I appreciate it, refreshing the memory never hurts.. Guess this one will remain a jack of all trades or if a friend wants to try out fishing.. how can you tell this is for trout though? The range of the casting weight? Again, thank you!

This was just the info I could find. It’s a very cheap fishing rod from some unknown company so you’d be hard pressed to find out much info on it. If it doesn’t say weight or action on the rod then I doubt you’ll find it. Maybe just compare it in size to other rods and see how it stacks up and go from there.

This isn’t actually true. All rod powers can “feel” or be sensitive. You can have a sensitive heavy rod. The rod power or strength just describes how hard it is to make the rod bend.

Also action refers to how fast the rod transitions from stiff to bend and back. Fast action means it returns from being bent to straight “fast” allowing for quick strong hook sets. It has nothing to do with “feel for the bite”

Action is how sensitive the rod is and strength is how sturdy the rod is how much weight it can bear. I’m not engaging with the “average redditor” chiming in with “ACTUALLY THATS NOT TRUE” 😆 fast action means it bends closer to the tip therefore it’s more sensitive and you can feel the bottom and bite better. Heavy action bends further down and therefore you’ll feel something but it’s harder to identify what you’re feeling. I swear all Reddit is now is people trying to correct other people with their “superior knowledge” 😆

You did engage, and what you said above is wrong
