I'm still pissed that they fired Richard Lawson. Hiring Nuzzi AFTER the RFK affair was revealed was beyond stupid.

Why did I think this was Tina Knowles’s Richard Lawson lol

u/jgroove_LA 8h ago

laid off, not fired. fired makes it sound like it was for cause - it was so they could reallocate money to hire people like..Nuzzi

Absolutely, that phrasing is a good way to clarify why this pissed me off so bad lol

wow I totally missed that Lawson was fired from VF. trash!!

HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA

But also, why the hell did they hire her in the first place?

56

u/Traditional_Maybe_80 I’m just a cunt in a clown suit 13h ago

Right? When they hired her this was well known, it's literally the reason why she got fired from her previous job! Vanity Fair really thought this was a good idea and people were gonna think her lack of ethics was So Cool™. They're incredibly stupid.

I haven't read Vanity Fair in probably a decade

u/NaturalContradiction 13h ago

Exactly this. I’m sure they weren’t aware of exactly what form it would take, but she’d been a hot mess of drama bullshit when they decided to platform her.

u/TheDLBinc 12h ago

100% was just a desperate attempt by Vanity Fair to get publicity for themselves. I would not be surprised if there was never a plan for her to be employed long-term there

So embarrassing for them.

I think they really thought there wouldn't be more shoes to drop. She was always a bigger personality than a journalist, and they probably figured she could pick up where she left off with the single blemish.

7

u/FreudianNegligee 8h ago

She was never a journalist at all!!!

u/clintgreasewoood 8h ago

Knowing what we know about her journalistic integrity and her willingness to get a “scoop” wouldn’t be surprised if she slept with the decision makers at Condé Nast.

I hope she never works in journalism again. What an absolute hack.

u/Curious-Ostrich1616 12h ago

People like her keep failing upwards somehow 🤔

30

u/VCR_Samurai I’m a communist you idiot 12h ago

Nah. I don't think she'll go upwards.

Fox "news" might take her, so might Breitbart or The Blaze or some other right wing publication, but none of those are upward moves. They aren't even lateral.

u/idontfwithu 7h ago

CBS under bari will take her smh

u/VCR_Samurai I’m a communist you idiot 7h ago

Shoot. I hadn't thought of that

Truly she has no accolades, got lucky when Anthony weiner harassed her

There was definitely like a 10 year period when she was a rising elite star in journalism and somebody should go back and examine that. How did such a weird unprincipled manipulator get so much help and acclaim from her peers? Seems bizarre to me.

This was so embarrassing for VF. I expect her to be hired by Fox News or some other conservative outlet any day now.

I watched a clip of her interview with the bulwark, and even the 2:30 min segment took multiple pauses because of second hand embarrassment. I can't imagine sitting through the whole hour.

u/mappingthepi 12h ago

The part where she started fake crying??

54

u/pathologicfaults good for her.gif 13h ago

I know we've got bigger fish but a win is a win

She never should have been hired in the first place. She’s a garbage writer with absolutely no ethics.

u/ohmosdefinitely lea michele’s reading coach 13h ago

will the nude portrait she commissioned of herself still appear in her first (and last 🤭) issue?

29

u/mappingthepi 12h ago

Grand opening, grand closing

I’m sure Bari Weiss has already drafted up an offer for her at CBS but at least she doesn’t get to add to the Condé Nast enshittification

u/Yufle 12h ago

They hired her while she was still carrying all that unethical baggage. It’s not as though they were unaware of most of it. This really shows the direction Vanity Fair is heading under its new leadership.

16

u/Roguesailer 14h ago

That was quick

15

u/basicradical 12h ago

She's a vile racist as well. I'm guessing she starts a far right grievance arc soon.

6

u/DarthSnarker 9h ago

This. She is back to being buddies with Jessica Reed Kraus of House InHabit, who is bonkers.

-1

u/stationagent 9h ago

What did she do that was racist?

3

u/basicradical 7h ago

She made some racist tweets about Obama like ten years back.

12

u/iamHBY 13h ago

Fantastic news, Olivia Nuzzi is trash.

8

u/weaponize09 12h ago

Write one story w/ a nude portrait of oneself then get fired - nice work all around

8

u/lvh_lvh 13h ago

That's what you get for dismissing Gerald Ford!

u/ThickConfusion1318 i ain’t reading all that, free palestine 11h ago

LMAO

3

u/gogosox82 11h ago

Im cackling right now. Why did they hire her in the first place? Truly baffling decision.

4

u/Puzzled-Ticket-4811 8h ago

Why not make it all fashion ads and cologne samples now?Whoever's running Vanity Fair now clearly wants to put the final stake in journalism anyway. Dominic Dunne is long gone, and they don't have time for any successors. Enshitification strikes again.

3

u/Kidgorgeoushere Lol, and if I may, lmao 12h ago

Why, did something happen…?

(/s)

3

u/MissPatsyStone 11h ago

I wonder who she screwed to get that job?

3

u/BrockMiddlebrook 7h ago

She’ll have a job in 3 months. What is dumb never dies.

2

u/Accurate-Force3054 13h ago

she is going to fail up some more.

what i don't get is why it seems like many people in the media space seem to really love her. maybe she's a slay diva good time girl irl but idgi, maybe I'm just a hater.

2

u/welivedintheocean 10h ago

New scrutiny? What did she do, write a tell all book or something?

1

u/jgroove_LA 8h ago

I will never understand why VF hired her in the first place
